WaPo Columnist Wonders: Are White Republicans ‘Afraid to Criticize’ Cain Because He’s Black?’

Are White Republicans Afraid to Criticize Cain Because Hes Black?Jonathan Capehart isn’t afraid to publicly slam the GOP. In fact, the Blaze has documented his anti-Republican viewpoints before.

Thursday morning, Capehart appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” where he spoke about the GOP’s reaction to Herman Cain. During the dialogue, the commentator suggested that white Republicans may be holding back their critiques of Cain because he’s black.

“Why is it that Herman Cain is not being criticized? I have to tell you, I wonder if there are Republicans, white Republicans, who are just afraid to criticize a black candidate for president,” he said. “And I have to say, and I say it with a hand grenade, I have to say, we’re talking about President of the United States! We’re not talking about some piddly position. He needs to be held accountable.”

If these comments hold truth, though, one wonders why Republicans of all shapes and stripes have been so willing to criticize President Barack Obama. If, indeed, race is holding back commentary and critique, wouldn‘t this negate some of the allegations of racism that have been waged against the GOP when it comes to the party’s treatment of the president?

Watch Capehart address his theories on race, below:

In a recent column, Capehart also makes it clear that he doesn’t believe Cain is anywhere near prepared to assume the American presidency. He writes:

On a near-daily basis, Herman Cain, the front runner for the Republican nomination for president of the United States, denigrates the high level of expectation and preparation demanded by my mother and mothers everywhere. And with each ill-fated utterance he has me saying, “C’mon, man!” A phrase that drips with a you-should-know-better disappointment, because he is profoundly unprepared for the stage upon which he struts (and sings).

During his MSNBC appearance, Capehart went on to cite Cain‘s recent comments about China’s nuclear capability as evidence that he may not be very knowledgeable about international affairs. Then, he compared these purported blunders to Sarah Palin’s 2008 interviews with Katie Couric — which were widely regarded as harming the vice-presidential candidate’s image.

Below, watch Cain discuss China and nuclear capabilities on PBS’s “NewsHour” (around 11:00):

During this election cycle, race has continued to be a theme in the political and media realms. Cain, himself, recently said, “This many white people can’t pretend that they like me.” And others, like Thomas Sowell, have also weighed in on race as it pertains to the presidential contender.

It seems that this topic isn’t going away anytime soon.

I think my head is ready to explode! So, let’s see:

    1. We don‘t criticize Cain because he’s black, but we criticize Obama because he is (and we’re racist).

    2. Touche (or whatever his name is) tells Lawrence O’Donnell that Liberals can criticize Cain and it is “political speech” (not racism)…..but then again, oh… yeah…. wait, the conservatives have been called racist for the last three years for the same polical speech against Obama.

The blood is shooting out of my eyes, I can’t see the screen anymore!

Let’s end the race card, both sides. Cain is getting pinned because he is the front runner, no other reason. The fact that he is black is why MSNBC may be attacking him but this ‘scandal’ came out because he is the front runner. Period.

Well maybe Mr.Capehart can explain a resent speech by the First Lady while she was in Davis Island, Fl stump for her husband.
“Yes, Republicans hope to regain the White House so they can install Supreme Court justices who will trample Americans’ privacy, ignore the nation’s security, crush free speech and persecute the religious.

Oh, and they’re rich and racist to boot. “Will we be a country where opportunity is limited to just the few at the top? Who are we? Or will we give every child a chance to succeed no matter where they’re from, or what they look like or how much money their parents have. Who are we?”

That’s right, rich people (white, of course) certainly don’t want black people to succeed. They want to squelch success based on what people look like, how much money they have. “Are we going to let them succeed?” the first lady yelled. “Nooo!” the rich white people screamed.”

Heres one for ya if we are racists for criticizing Obama are they racist for NEVER mentioning his white side? Lets all remember he was raised by his WHITE mother and grandparents while being ABANDONED by is BLACK father! Yet His black half is embraced…. so it is safe to assume they are all racists!

How come NO ONE ever calls this out? Why is he referred to as the first BLACK president? He is the first multi-racial potus, he is NOT the first black potus! So kids when the left pulls this race card simply turn it around on them they are being racists against whites because THEY ARE!!

      BINGO!

You see, all we conservatives can see is a person’s race, so anything we do must be because of his race. It can’t be due to any judgment we make about content of character or because of political agreement or disagreement. That simply is impossible, because we racists. And BECAUSE we’re racists we treat blacks only as blacks, which is proof that we’re racists.

      It’s that simple (minded).

I don’t have any trouble attacking Obama because of his race… he’s just a damned Honkey… at least part of him is. We can’t call him anything else, the “word police” won’t post our comments. Which brings to mind, if people know what “N-Word” stands for then what’s the difference? What are they going to do about the dictionarys? How are they going to explain what N-Word means without using the word itsself? Sigh…. nothing but problems….

Well, no, Cain is being attacked for two main reasons. One, liberals attack him because he is a black conservative and that scares them. Two, he is a frontrunner so liberals will attack him and other conservative candidates and their followers will attack him.

Obviously they didn’t watch the Gretta Van interview where she literally ran him across the coals. Some of those questions she nailed him with where quite risque.
While I do like Cain and would certainly support him, he really isn‘t prepared for this office and I don’t understand why. It is not him alone, many of the candidates seem as if they just don’t have a complete broad knowledge of the affairs. However, neither do the Dem’s as they run. The difference is, the media never nails the Dems down on ridiculous hypothetical questions. Everybody should learn from the Donald and just have one statement for every main topic and repeat it no matter what they say. IF the interviewer does off topic and you don’t have an answer, just go back to the statement you have that is most closely related and repeat it again. This is the only way somebody can make it through this mess of the media. Otherwise, you will be called a “flip-flopper“ if you try to articulate yourself through the ”double bind” questions. haha , they say that schizophrenics are created by mothers who constantly use “double binds” when raising their children. This causes them to have split personalities because there is never a correct answer. This is called abuse. Seems the media has a sick compulsion to impose mentally sickening scenarios on those whom they wish to destroy. RD Lange explains this well.

Like I’ve been saying….they put Obama up for President because they knew if he succeeded, they could say he only succeeded because he’s half white. If he failed, which he has, they can say it’s because the racist white republicans made him fail because he was black. You remember when Obama claimed he was a clean articulate black man? No one says that about Cain. Either way, they can claim that republicans are racist. They don’t have that option with Cain. He’s all black, and he’s leading in the polls (or among the top).

Cain seems like an intelligent American with a business sense. He is not afraid to speak his mind and does not come across like an attorney prostitute career politician…that is refreshing. He calls himself a black American, not an african American…how refreshing, he wants to keep the wet backes out of our country and secure our borders, he wants to balance the budget and make the tax code fair, he is a legitimate American who seems to love this country. In short, nobama wastes our air, Cain is a refreshing….Go Cain…Go Tea Party.

Herman Cain acquired his CEO positions, because corporate America needed black faces to counter complaints that the corporate world was too white and it was due to discrimination….never mind that there wasn’t even one black prospect on the scene who excelled enough academically to qualify as CEO. And further, he did absolutely nothing to turn any company “around” as is claimed about Godfather’s Pizza. As is the case with MOST corporations it is the lower level management personnel who determine whether a business loses or fails.

Cain was NOT a mathematics whiz either as some people lyingly claim about him. However, it is remarkable he received a degree in mathematics, because there are very, very few blacks who can understand higher mathematics; however, Cain was an average student. There is nothing remarkable in his grades or background to indicate otherwise.

Outside of math he exhibits a lack of wisdom and understanding about issues that are of a complicated nature regarding foreign policy and general domestic matters.

Herman Cain was hired by the elites, who live in the shadows, as a CEO in order to present a black face to the world to stave off charges of racism in the corporate world, and it is these same shadow figures who derive untold wealth from such manipulations.

Most whites who support him now subconsciously desire to be thought of as “non-prejuduced,” because they have been brainwashed into feeling guilty if they do not.

Perry hired campaign managers who may have or may not have the intel to create the open scandel. Verdict is out but if it looks like a fish, and smells like a fish, it is a fish. Perry still has Democratic roots and been schooled in using tthose tactics and he‘s a Bilderberg symphathizer if not a Bilderberg outright so he’s already lost any support that I would have given this guy. I won’t support a RiNO or Neocon anymore; will I vote for one that happens to win the nod for the GOP? If no viable 3rd party candidate exists (viable meaning has a good chance to beat BO), then reluctantly yes, but that is all I will do for that candidate; no signs; no bumper stickers; not even a good word of mouth gester. ‘Nough said. :)

Maybe people…white, black, Hispanic, purple with pink spots, aliens from outer space, or just plain humans who are republicans don’t complain about Cain, because he is a human who would make an excellent President for the USA. Of course if we were to complain that Obama is an incompetent idiot, who had no place in the White House as Pres. of the US, we would all be deemed racist. Arguing with idiot lefties is purely wasted time; either they admit the truth to themselves someday, or they suffer the consequences that libs suffer eventually. You see, conservatives are much more in tune with reality than locust-like libs that follow the broadway rather than the narrow way. Now, MSNBC is where the howling can be heard from the wolves of unAmerican sentiment.

Well here is a Republican who is not afraid to criticize Cain, “He is handling the sexual harassment accusations correctly”. There I said it!

Frankly, these women are throwing out these charges anonymously; how cowardly of you. Anyone can make false accusations as well as true accusations, but if you remain anonymous you are telling me that you can’t stand behind your convictions. I am more inclined to think you are lying even if you may be telling the truth. Frankly, I think you are lying and looking for a payout. My next statement, why now? If he was so bad too you, then why not two years ago, three years ago. Your motives are suspect and unbelievable.

If these are false, in the sense you lost your case because your charges were unfounded and you are doing this now only to sling mud at Cain, I hope Cain sues you for everything you have.

Now don’t get me wrong, if he made sexual advances then yes he should be held accountable and if you received compensation, then you were justly rewarded. The case should be closed. Would you like a mistake you made several years ago be thrown up into your face?

Lawrence O‘Dumb’ll has already offered to pay their legal fees should they get fined for speaking out, since it may have been part of their settlement agreement. Frankly, they should go straight to jail for three years for breaking the contract and Cain has the right to sue for them breaking the settlement agreement.

100% agree with you. How do you defend against an anonymous accuser? You do your best and bumble your way through this and Cain’s done a good job defending himself imo. Cain’s the only non-politician out their so he may not exactly know how to maneuver around these type of attacks, but I smell a scam job and see through this and so do most folk and they won’t buy this one this time. Our nation‘s future is at stake and we don’t need a RiNO wet finger in the air GOP candidate to win the nomination for the Republican Party. You go Mr. Cain; still have your back and so do Millions of other Americans. :)

    What a twit!
Johnny, just when have you ever criticized Barry? A POTUS that has spent over 4 Trillion with the most of it going to pay back his supporters!
A man that attacks anyone that wont go along with his socialist policies, calling anyone that isn’t firmly in the progressive camp a racist and idiot!
Complains of his opponents clinging to their guns and bibles!

As a white conservative, that is also a member of that Senior voting block, I have yet to find something to complain about with Herman.
He hasn’t lied to me, like Barry does in every speech. Herman has never attempted to take away my health care like Barry has done.

I wonder are these leftist like this Jonathan Capehart, so brain washed from their socialist education that they are blind to anything other then their own talking points? So far removed from the truth they wouldn’t know the truth if walked up and bit them!

Don’t you remember Ricky when we were at that club and you tried to grope me. I threaten to file charges if you did again. See how that works – I made an accusation and I am hiding behind my forum name anonymously. You and I know it is untrue, but I made the accusation public and for all those on this forum are concerned, some will believe me and some will outright say I am lying.

Personally, I don‘t think these attacks are because he’s black, they are because he is the Republican front runner. Everyone gets it when they are conservative, Republican, and the front runner. Bachmann, Perry, Romney all got it. This one was most likely from Rick Perry who is edging on third with his flat tax and needs an added bost. He is already throwing all he has, accusations at Romney now he is going after Cain. It comes with the territory.

If you are confused with the whole situation, Fox News put up a great summary video about this matter: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/nov/cain_harassment_summary.html

Herman Cain has taken playing the race card to an entirely new level.

    Ok, you’re black…next?

You’re a Federal Reserve former employee and agent, said it doesn’t need to be audited, pandered to bigots against muslims saying “I won’t appoint muslims”, pandered to the religious right saying “Jesus was a conservative convicted by a liberal court”, accused of sexual harrassment by multiple women, don‘t have a clue about China’s nukes, has a horribly gimmicky 9-9-9 tax plan based on arbitrary garbage, etc.

    So what, you’re black.

Does the left want to destroy him because he is black? This is not about race on the conservative side .. this is about conservativism and what is BEST for the country. I now hear that the leak came from Rahm Emaunel (Mayor and Obama “friend”) in Chicago’s office to the Perry Campaign .. progressives helping to TRY to bring down Cain. I will NOT let the Marxists determine OUR candidate.
