Was Obama’s Illegal Immigrant Uncle Arrested for DUI?

President Barack Obama’s alleged “illegal” immigrant uncle was arrested in Massachusetts last week for allegedly driving under the influence after nearly ramming a police car, the Washington Times reported Sunday.

According to some digging by the Times’s Kerry Picket, Onyango Obama, 67, is the “Uncle Omar” mentioned in the president’s book, “Dreams From My Father.” He is apparently an illegal immigrant from Kenya and the brother of Obama’s aunt Zeituni Oyango, who has been granted asylum to stay in the U.S.

The Metrowest Daily News reported Obama failed a field sobriety test after almost running his SUV into a police car in Framingham, Mass, near Boston. According to a police report, he rolled through a stop sign and then made a quick left turn, requiring the squad car and another vehicle to slam on their breaks to avoid hitting him.

According to the Washington Times, Framingham Public Information Officer Lieutenant Delaney said when Onyango Obama was asked at the station if he wanted to make a telephone call to arrange for bail, he replied: “I think I will call the White House.”

The Times of London referenced an Onyango Obama in a 2008 article about then-presidential candidate Obama’s family:

“Dreams of My Father” was first published in 1995, and the story of how Mr Obama returned to Kenya in 1988 to trace his roots has become the cornerstone of his political biography. Yet the US media appears to have overlooked the passage indicating that at least one relative of Mr Obama’s had moved to America and might still be there.

Two thirds of the way through the book Mr Obama’s half-sister talked about Africans who had emigrated to the West and were never heard of again, “like our Uncle Omar, in Boston . . . They’ve been lost, you see”.

A few pages later Mr Obama meets his step-grandmother, Sarah, for the first time in the village of Kogelo. On the walls of her hut are photographs of Omar, “the uncle who had left for America 25 years ago and never came back”. Touchingly, she asks the future presidential candidate if he has any news of Omar, her son and Mr Obama’s half-uncle.

Oyango Obama pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence and other charges.

According to the Daily News, Obama has a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement warrant for his arrest, which he is being held on. ICE has previously ordered his deportation back to Kenya.

      I’m with you but wonder how many of those illegals will be voting too?! Hey, if the DOJ doesn’t enforce Visa/ immigration rules, why should we expect them to enforce voting requirements??       you left one thing out. The reason for asylum was, her life was threatened if she went back to Kenya. That is the token excuse they all give. I think she wanted all the freebies and didn’t want to work she is on Supplemental Social Security. That works for people who never own a home or don’t have more than $2000 and don’t have any quarters payed into the system. She also says she thanks God not the taxpayers! because she deserves it. These are facts that were quoted on a local station in Boston last year when they did an interview with her.

    What happened to “vetting” ignored by every news outlet maybe with the exception of hannity, Beck and a few others. Perry on the other hand as stated by msnlsd will spend every last penny checking his background. Bill Ayers, Normadine, underground wether etc. Most people can’t get a regular job without a substantial background check even psychological testing at my local water district, even credit check, but not for such an unimportant job like President of the USA.     This should be good!

    This is a test to see if:
    a) he’s prosecuted for DUI (not likely);
    b) he’s deported (even less likely);
    c) some fancy legal maneuver gets him off & lets him stay in the country (very likely);
    or d) this all just disappears (the most likely outcome)

      Think this is why the New York Times constantly runs articles about the Citizen’s United decision. This opens the door to endless comments about the radical right wing/capitalist Robert’s Supreme Court . The president slammed the Court in his 2009 State of the Union speech and the NYT has carried the anti-Supreme Court banner ever since. Now that we see these Executive Orders, think there is a definite agenda going on here! Disrespect for the judicial branch and the rule of law has a purpose. ( Actually Obama has been slamming congress too! ) Mean anything?? Hmmmm

      There have been several incidents in my state of illegals ( Mexico ) who have killed American citizens in car crashes . But, hey, no problem with that Open Border. (Just whom do our elected officials actually work to protect??) This is outrageous. Is a DUI a “felony?” Let me guess.

      Barber2 they only trump up charges citizens to DUI felonies. Then the city / district attorney acts nice and drop the charge to a misdemeanor and hit you with a heavy fine.

      Uncle Omar get a full pass, plus he gets increase welfare, cell phone, internet, housing, medical and food stamps benefits from the fines we pay!

      Too be clear this was not signed into law because it didn’t originate in the House. This is simply an Executive Order. Presidential fiat.

      Not sure if this type of order is legal as far as executive orders go. I haven’t heard anybody challenge it yet though.

      Sure he does, but when your hand picked Attorney General Eric Holder isn’t going to enforce the rules, well don’t blame us when black mobs accross America start beating up white people without reprocussions or not being charged with hate crimes. They have been sent the signal from the highest authority that it’s okay.

      Obama sets the example for them that voted for him (white, black, brown etc).

      We are just getting what we wholly deserve.

      As for me and my house, we will be just fine without .gov help or approval.
