Was the U.N. Hacked Again? Security Vulnerabilities Revealed

Team Poison Hacks U.N. Server Again

The information appears to be coming from the hacking group Team Poison.

In a hack that security experts say could have been easily prevented by following the simplest of security measures, a hacker going by “Casi” has released what he claims are vulnerabilities in the United Nation’s system.

MyFoxNY reports that the firm Identity Finder said the U.N. was not following basic security procedures on the web, allowing it to be hacked by a SQL injection attack (SQLIA):

“It’s web security 101,” Aaron Titus, Chief Privacy Officer for Identity Finder says. “This breach seems to be a very simple attack. If this breach was real, they could have prevented this very easily and should have prevented it.”

He says Identity Finder is not able to independently verify the legitimacy of the information but the hack appears legitimate.

The data in the release included a list of vulnerable points and a detailed map of the inside of the UN’s database.

“It’s making the rounds in the hacker community and is spreading fast,” Titus says.

Casi, who appears to be involved with the hacking group TeaMp0isoN, posted the vulnerabilities on a Pastebin site because he is “fighting for Internet Freedom, equiality & rights for all.” MyFoxNY reports that Identity Finder reached out to the U.N. to inform them of the attack but has not head back.

In Nov. 2011, TeaMpoisoN (Team Poison) was credited with hacking the U.N.’s server, releasing email addresses and passwords. Passwords do not appear to be apart of this most recent hack.

When is [compleatly-isolated] computor for your ultra-secrate doc’s, such a hard thing to doo? When needed, just copy from it with a separate remoovable media and use only what you need…never interconnect it to anything else…toooooo simple. Donot even have an extra-isolated harddrive in your normal computor. each time you add to, completely-wipe the remoovable media before, and after. Ultra-delete the original from the master-computor immediately after..or just do all u-s work on the unconnected one…. .

TeaMp0isoN is affiliated with various Anti-US and Anti-Israel hacking teams, but it’s perfectly acceptable that they hacked the U.N., right?

U.N. is a bunch of commies. They deserve to be hacked to oblivion. I bet they could barely use a computer. I betcha they are so dumb they think if an icon on the desktop disappears the program isn’t there any more. People who can’t understand computers like that deserve it. Sorry if it’s harsh, but it’s going to happen.

SO if we disagree with someone then it’s acceptable to perform illegal actions against them? Great thinking! I’m sure the Obama administration will be in total agreement with you on this one!

lol people dont realize a simple firewall would stop most of these. They can get in to the info because of the governments incompetence

A firewall will not block an SQL injection attack. The only way to stop it is to not be a moron when you’re scripting. Don’t use the obvious target words.

I can’t stand these criminal hacker groups, but I’d love for the entire UN database to be hacked and for the information to be spread all over the Internet. If there is one organization on this planet that should have no secrets, it is the U.N.

No privacy for the UN, for as long as they assume the authority to be global social engineers.

They screwed up. They caused the UN no harm, and now the security hole is going to be closed. The one time they could have been useful, they’re useless.

Exactly …The only one who would care is some commie third world criminal who pocketed millions of U.S.Cash …I mean it would be funny to see how many millions we gave some of these buffoons so they would let in a box of rubbers .and so some commie like Obama can give a speech and proclaim he is single handed fighting the war on aids…lol …and is the savior of the world ….
