Washington Post, NY Times Invite You to Help Dig Through Sarah Palin’s E-mails

Washington Post, NY Times Invite You to Help Dig Through Sarah Palins E mailsWant to find dirt on Sarah Palin? If you answered affirmatively, you may want to turn to The Washington Post or The New York Times for help.

Last week, we reported on the impending release of more than 24,000 pages of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s e-mails. We also told you about the archive that Mother Jones, MSNBC.com and ProPublica are creating so that the public can more easily sift through the messages. Now, the Post and the Times are also jumping into the Palin e-mail drama.

In an article published earlier today, the Post announced a bizarre contest of sorts that asks readers to assist the newspaper in “digging through” the highly-anticipated electronic messages:

We are looking for 100 organized and diligent readers who will work alongside Post reporters to analyze, contextualize, and research the e-mails. Think of it as spending some time in our newsroom.

Our hope is that working together, we can efficiently find interesting information and extract new stories that will lead to further investigation. We don’t know what we’ll find, but we want you to be ready and open for the challenge.

You will communicate with us virtually and work in small teams to make light work of reviewing the e-mail threads. Notice the patterns. Identify recipients and senders. Connect specific e-mails to larger themes and events. We’ll give you a sense of what to look out for, but the hope is that your team can tackle the challenge together in a collaborative way that our journalists alone cannot.

The Times is looking to engage readers in a major e-mail initiative as well:

Times reporters will be in Juneau, the state capital, to begin the process of reviewing the e-mails, which we will be posting on nytimes.com starting on Friday afternoon E.D.T.

We’re asking readers to help us identify interesting and newsworthy e-mails, people and events that we may want to highlight. Interested users can fill out a simple form to describe the nature of the e-mail, and provide a name and e-mail address so we’ll know who should get the credit. Join us here on Friday afternoon and into the weekend to participate.

What‘s your take on the media spending so much time and energy vetting Palin’s e-mails? The Post has even setup a Twitter feed devoted to “headlines and details about Sarah Palin’s e-mails.” Watch below for more about tomorrow’s public release:

We should all stand for anyone this brave and willing to go tell the machine to suck it! I have your six Sarah, anytime, anywhere. They, the left, will go to any length to be rid of her I am afraid. Just as I am afraid they will go to any lenght, killing hundreds of thousands, to stay in power. Communists never give up power without blood! Ever in recorded history.

Where are any of our existing reps standing up for this women. Not to mention the little (unt, Bachman, condeming her. Our right is as bad and as afraid as the our left. For their little gravy train will end too.

“Not to mention the little ****, Bachman, condeming her.”

You’re a fool. People need to take Sarah Palin off of the pedestal they have placed her on. The left demonizes her and half of the right deifies her. It’s absurd in both extremes. She’s just an averagely intelligent, conservative woman who happens to have a bigger megaphone than most. Enough of this nonsense!

Beck is right when he said that the Media is dead and I will go one step farther and say; that the medis today (so-called) is the propaganda wing of the Democrat Party. How can these people even hold a journalism degree when someone like Andrew Brightbart scoops these idiots everytime. He digs for the facts, sorts through the crap then releases the story and lo-and-behold, you have a story. Why Sara Palin, why??? Why are the marxist so affraid of her? They call her names like stupid and yet she still gets the crowds. When the left starts slamming someone, I take notice and do my best to see what this person is all about.

John McCain was the wrong candidate for the GOP in 2008. Sarah Palin was a shot in the arm for his campaign because she espoused the philosophy of what most conservatives wished the GOP to be and what was lacking in McCain himself. However, she alone is not enough to win the presidency. She will not run and will not be nominated for the GOP candidate. The email scrounging and the time wasted by the liberals in the process will be fun to watch.

Of course this is a left right issue. They hate her, so they’re going after her hard. I‘m not saying she hasn’t done anything worth investigating, I’m saying she should be so low on the list of people to investigate that it would be 2099 before they ever got around to looking at those emails.

Let’s stop with the stupid semantic games, why don’t we? This is so transparent its almost unbelievable: the Washington Post is trying to assemble an electronic posse to hunt down dirt on Sarah. Enough of this bullcrap about it being publicly accessible; even though it is, this type of thing seems quite unprecedented, does it not? Asking private individuals to try and “find interesting information and extract new stories that will lead to further investigation”? They are trying to drum up opposition against her because they think she will run for president, and they are trying to keep their grubby fingers as clean as possible (should, through this, they do something truly egregious) by passing the sourcing onto others. So blatant, so childish, so unethical…and so unbelievably biased.

This is laughable if it wasn’t so tragic. Here we have the most corrupt, fraudulent, lying President & Admin. in history that they won’t let anyone see his school records, etc., not to mention the birth certificate fiasco (which I still believe is a forgery & was sent to the FBI last week I think w/irrefutable proofs)……what about e-mails concerning him & his evil minions?!
Sarah said on her interview w/Fox that there‘s nothing there but they’ll probably try to use some out of context and do the best job they can to make her look bad but she’s not worried about it. I don’t think we have to worry about the media destroying her — they’ve done everything they can do in these last few years bc they knew she might run and be a danger. She knows them inside out and I doubt if she’d stay in the public eye like she does if she knew she had bad stuff they could dig up.

Hope that doesn’t mean we have to correct the spelling and check accuracy on such esoteric things as Paul Revere using lights instead of bells and warning the colonists and not the British. Other than that I’m sure they are pack full of intelligent and insightful observations.

Well, so much for journalistic integrity.

And why just Palin’s emails? There are other GOP contenders.

For some reason Palin scares them silly.

Petitions are powerful things I guess. Palin’s emails were made public because of a petition. Click my name to sign one to ask the House of Reps to start impeachment process…

Unbelievable. They won’t hold Congress accountable for crap, but will go through her e-mails and employ the public at large to do so. They have proven again and again that they are not a news organization, but an arm of the progressives and shills for Obama. Pathetic.

Could you imagine the stink that would arise if the name Sarah Palin were substituted with Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, or just about any other liberal woman on the planet?

It is both humorous and at the same time sad that the irony of a media obsessed with every detail of the life of a woman who holds no office and is not running for one (as of yet) is completely uninterested in exploring the glaring red flags concerning our president who has the power to do very bad things.

Let all the useLESS idiots sift through Sarah Palin’s emails and keep themselves in suspense. It’ll keep them occupied and out of our hair for a while.

As a matter of fact, all they have to do is let me know when they’re finished, and I’ll let them sift through my forthcoming, used toilet tissues so that they can read them like some people read tea leaves.

And Weiner.????..well, that goes without saying. There will be law suits over these emails from Palin’s private and public sources

If liberals were not so scared of her, we would not have this going on. They are scared senseless of this woman…She will upset their “apple” cart….

It‘ll be sad if it’s found out that Palin sent personal emails on her government email account, and people complain about that and try to use that against her. I doubt there’s a person in any government position, and I many any, including police, firefighters, mayors whomever who hasn’t done that. Everybody does that. I’ll ignore anything like that.

But Troupergate? Communication with subordinates? Explanations of why she fired people? That will be interesting.

Don‘t pretend that Sarah Palin is being picked on in a way Democrats aren’t. This is hardball politics. But I think it’s pathetic. Frankly I hate it no matter who is the target unless there is legitimate reason to believe they’ve committed a felony which in the case of Palin is, in my view, ridiculous.

Politics in America! I don’t like this kind of politics anymore than anyone here, probably even less.

@seasonofreason, what‘s transparent government got to do with Sarah Palin’s emails? She’s a private citizen, she hasn‘t even declared whether or not she’s running for president. If you want to harp on transparent government, you might want to ask that guy in the White House a few questions.

Let’s take down their mail servers. They want emails, lets give them some!!! Remember, they asked for this…Email them both, if you know how to make batch files, send them that way.
