Watch a Man Shoot Himself in the Leg During Fake Duel With a Silhouette

Back in February, we brought you the viral video of a DEA agent shooting himself in the leg while giving a gun safety demonstration. Today, we bring you the video of a man shooting himself in the leg while having a duel with a fake silhouette.

The video, it should be noted, contains some graphic language. After all, the man does shoot himself in the leg. So for those who do not want to play the raw footage, the Daily Mail offers a non-vulgar play-by-play:

Standing not six-inches from the target, its was a surprising shot to miss.

Sporting a cowboy hat, he pulls the gun from his pocket* at some speed.

Pulling it out, it goes off and he shoots himself in the leg.

He hollers: ‘I just f***ing shot myself,’ cowering in pain.

Hobbling away for the target, he wails: ‘Ahh son of a b****, I just shot myself.’

[Content WARNING: graphic language]

According to Business Insider, the shooter/victim is gun enthusiast is Tex Grebner. He posted the video of the incident online in order to show people what not to do.

In an explanation, Grebner said the incident was in part due to practicing with a different holster than the one he used in the video. Still, he wants this to be a lesson.

“Negligent discharges happen,” Grebner says, “and I don’t want them to happen to anybody else. Gun safety is everybody’s business.”

[Content WARNING: Video contains graphic language]

And just in case you don’t remember the 2004 incident with the DEA agent, we’ve included it below:

*We realize it’s a holster and not a pocket. However, the Daily Mail has it listed as the former rather than the latter.

Rule #2 from the four primary rules, established by the late Col. Jeff Cooper, for handling a weapon was violated here.

Never let your finger inside the trigger guard until your sights are on the target

Wow, I’m glad he blames himself, he’s right on there. Keep your finger out of the trigger guard until you‘ve pointing at something you don’t mind shooting! Also glad thing it was a .45 FMJ rather than a hollow point, or there‘d be lots more wrong with his leg and he might’ve had a challenge stopping the bleeding before the paramedics showed up!

I can see his point regarding training with different holsters. To become proficient in the draw, you drill until you develop muscle memory to the point that you do not have to think about it as it becomes instinctual. What this video illustrates to me is the danger of trying to adapt to multiple pistol/holster combos. You have to choose one or the other and not both because of this danger.

That guy shouldn’t pull a gun that close to any target, living or dead. You are supposed to push whatever it is passed your body length, then raise your gun with the finger always off the trigger, and then fire. That’s in an emergency situation. But this idiot wasn’t pushing the target away. I don’t know what he was doing. Normally, it’s the 21 foot rule. Anything or anyone that gets closer than that and you are toast. You start shooting outside of that bubble. Once inside, you run or pull a knife and defend yourself.

The second ATF agent is self-explanatory. He works for an illegal organization within our government that run by the Communist Eric Holder. You should be grateful he didn’t start shooting the kids that laughed at him. Get used to hearing High Treason when seeing the ATF/DOJ in future new articles.

I bet $10 that he was carrying the gun in a Blackhawk SERPA holster. That holster is the reason that many firearms instructors ban them in their classes as it requires the use of the trigger finger to engage an unlocking mechanism very close to where the trigger is on a gun.

There is now a second video where the guy says that negligent discharges just happen… Only if you are NEGLIGENT. A true marksman always maintains control of his weapon and is verifiably aware of the weapon’s condition, direction of muzzle, and his trigger finger placement at all times. A negligent discharge is nye but impossible when these things are always in check by a propperly trained and practiced shooter.
