Local station KTRK-TV in Houston caught an incredible and inspiring image today: recovering Rep. Gabrielle Giffords boarding a plane, under her own power, to attend the shuttle launch her husband will command on Friday:
KHOU-TV reports:
U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was seen publicly for the first time since a January shooting Wednesday when she boarded a NASA flight to Florida. She‘s headed to Cape Canaveral to watch Endeavour’s final launch.
Giffords’ husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, is commanding the mission.
Giffords arrived with a group of people – including a nurse from TIRR Memorial Hermann – in a dark-colored SUV around 9 a.m.
The vehicle drove right up to a waiting NASA plane, and Giffords – guided by a second person—walked up the stairs into the aircraft.
Giffords has been in an intensive rehabilitation program at TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston for months, recovering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was shot at a political event in Tucson on January 8. Six people were killed.
KHOU captured the arrival from a different angle:

______________
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo true. Amazing how the left, supported by the union thugs, new black panthers, Sharpton, Wright, etc. etc., call us the party of hate. That‘s like breaking into someone’s home and calling them the crook!
Just look objectively at the Beck rally, then at the lefts response and their union\communist backed response…it becomes very, very clear where the hate lies.

As much as I detest abortion, I’m glad that she is doing well, despite our political/social differences. While the information I’ve seen indicate it is unlikely she will regain her former capabilities, I wish her a quick and complete recovery. No one should have to go through what she has, nor the other shooting victims.

Posted on April 27, 2011 at 2:05pmDale, I respect your right to your opinion. People have differing levels of sympathies for various topics. You sound like a kind individual who honestly wishes everyone well. Nothing wrong with that. I on the other hand at times, try to be funny here, but other times I’m a real jerk, in many peoples eyes, if I feel strongly about something. I prefer to be brutally honest about matters, which comes off abrupt to many.
Report Post »For example, many very nice people here sincerely ask Our Lord to bless this woman. While I wouldn’t ask Him to do anything bad to her, I‘m kind of wondering how I can ask Him to bless someone who obviously doesn’t believe in Him, or doesn’t care, by her political support for a crime against humanity, that ranks right up there with the that done by Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, or Mao.
You see, to my way of thinking, it would be like asking Our Lord to bless Dr. Josef Mengele. In fact, he may be responsible for less deaths than her. I could ask Him to try and change her heart, but I find I simply cannot ask Him to bless someone who supports doing things to other people, far worse than her terrible ordeal.

You heartless psycho libs never quit, do you?
What’s important about this is, while you on the Left were looking for someone to blame–like Palin–many of us Conservatives were praying for this woman. We cared about HER, while you libs cared about politics and how to slander us as a whole.
This good news isn’t really for you heartless libs, and for you in particular according to your demented post. This has no political value to the Left, so I grasp how you see nothing here ‘worthy’ of your time or interest. Still, I can’t fathom how liberals like you feel need to try stealing smiles from people of better character than you could ever hope to hold.
For we who have prayed though–it’s a good and lovely thing.
What is it with you liberals–and you in particular–needing to find fault in every possible thing?

Posted on April 27, 2011 at 1:48pm@Cerealface – for the record I never cared about the whole birth certificate matter. But, there‘s a huge difference in the POTUS purposefully refusing to show his birth certificate and a woman recovering from near mortal wounds that she certainly didn’t ask for.
@UlyssesP – I agree it could be important. But only if or when that person chooses to share their personal recovery process. No, she wasn’t “rushed” with paparazzi, but the video was obviously filmed without her permission or cooperation. And I‘m sure the reporter’s motivation was a Scoop – not a humanitarian wish to show others they too can recover from severe head wounds.

Sorrowfully though, being from Arizona, I do not believe she is capable of fulfilling her duties as elected and a special election should be held to replace her. the people in her district are not being represented. Once she is recovered enough to once again fulfill her obligations as a U.S. Congresswoman she should run again and if the people in her district wish to vote her in again God bless her. I don’t want to come across as harsh, but if this were to happen to someone that works where I do they would replace the position and wish the former the best and welcome them back when they are recovered.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I looked this up and got a chill up my spine. Here’s my metaphorical summation about what I read [in brackets].
And I saw a beast coming out of the sea [coming out of the "C" for "congress"?]. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. [10 horns x 10 crowns = 100 senators?]. 2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard [a leopard has many spots / titles], but had feet [deciples] like those of a bear [Acorn...etc] and a mouth like that of a lion [verbally incisive]. The dragon [congress] gave the beast [Obama] his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound [Gabby Giffords], but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was astonished and followed the beast.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I admit it’s pretty far out…but generates some serious thought. For example, I’m not sure “the beast” is Obama…it could be the MSM as well. It’s definitely confusing.
In the end, it’ll all make sense. In the mean-time, we all need to try to be good to each other.
