Watch Chris Christie Call a Reporter an ‘Idiot’ During a Press Conference

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie lived up to his brash reputation once more on Saturday, calling a reporter an “idiot” for asking an off-topic question during a press conference.

The New Jersey Star-Ledger reported:

Although reporters were told that Christie would only be answering questions about Friday’s collapse of three large water pipes at NJ American Water’s treatment plant at Swimming River Reservoir and the subsequent boil water alert in 22 towns, one journalist tried to ask about the special joint session of the Legislature that the governor has called for Monday.

When the reporter said, “Governor, on Monday are you going to be addressing the legislature,” Christie interrupted and replied, “Did I say on topic? Are you stupid? On topic, on topic. Next question.”

The same reporter then said “Yes” and “No, I’m not stupid” to Christie’s questions and then began to ask, “How many days will you have them come back” before he was again cut off by the governor.

Christie said, “Thank you all very much and I’m sorry for the idiot over there. Take care.” before walking away.

Watch below:

The Republican governor called a former Navy SEAL an “idiot” and told him to “shut up” during a town hall back in March, later saying he had “no regrets at all” about the exchange.

I was at the town hall meeting when the Navy Seal made a complete ass of himself, forever reminding me that not everyone with the title Navy Seal is a great person. 99.9% of the time they are. I was ther when the .1 percent showed up. Completely rude. That said…Christie lost me when he refused to join the litigation against Bamstercare. Rino for sure. Don’t be fooled..

Oh yeah, Christie is a major change for NJ, and I hope that he stays there and continues to make improvements. But, I certainly don’t want his hat ever in the ring for a presidential run, nor for his to get on a ticket as the Veep. Places like NJ will not change over night, and their so called conservative politicians are anything but down here where I live. The nation needs some true conservatives in my opinion.

@JZS.. The words class and Obama don’t even belong in the same sentence. Was it classy when the “White House” invited rapper “Common” to a poetry event? In one poem he called for the metaphorical burning of President Bush … “a burning Bush”, and in a song he praised convicted cop killer Black Panther Assata Shakur. Or perhaps you prefer the collection of homosexuals who posed in front of President Reagans’ white house portrait flipping him off and subsequently posting them on facebook with the usual vulgarities expected from such low lifes. I particulary liked the “white house” excuse.

@ JZS… The words Obama and “class” don’t even belong in the same sentence. The collection of gay activists and their antics at a recent W.H. reception and the 2011 “poetry reading” that included the poems and songs of invited guest “Common” are but two examples of just how devoid of class the slug-in-chief is. Christie is perfect for the state. No, I dont agree with everything he does, but he is a conservative Governor, in my liberal state. He has over a 50% approval rating, did what he could with property taxes, tolls, bullet train, and the state has a much better feeling about business. And the last Governor who raised over 100 taxes, some that started after he left, belongs in jail. Christie hasnt raised taxes, and in NJ that is unheard of. I think conservatives are unfair to republican governors in liberal states (Romney) you cant just do what you want. The unions in this state make Wisconsin seem like the boy scouts.
That said I wouldnt move my business to Jersey because when a liberal is eventuallly voted back in all bets are off.

It is one thing to not suffer fools, but Christie has been reading to much of his own press, and has turned into a caricature of his former self. The longer he has been in office the ruder and cruder he has become. Some may find it entertaining, and that is his biggest problem. This is no longer righteous indignation, but political theater that plays well in New Jersey. I only hope that any thoughts of Christie as VP are a figment of his own imagination. If not and Romney should win, we will replace Biden (the Buffoon in Chief) with Christie (The Bully in Chief.)

Tom Woods, Peter Schiff, Addam Kokesh, Judge Napalatano, Stossel, Lew Rockwell, and his contributors, all our new delegates, etc. Rand and Demint are close and we like them too. Heck we loved Beck before he showed his hand. What we don‘t like are Republicans who LIE and say they’re for freedom while voting our Bill of Rights away. We don‘t like Republicans who say they’re for limited government, but expand it. We don’t like Republicans bought and paid for by the Military Industrial Complex and/or international community. Ron Paul was the only one running for president that didn’t fit into any of these categories.

Yeah, that is right, if they are liberals, they do not have the right to free speech. Only conservatives have that right. I was always told that there is no such thing as a bad question. I say let all questions be asked, then give an appropriate answer, if the questioner is shown to be wrong, then they are wrong. Do you think Obama should look at every conservative reporter and sidestep the question by calling the reporter stupid? I say, let’s hear the question, then hear the answer. We can then make an informed decision on that question and answer.

Umm, maybe I’m the only one catching this, but WHY DID HE CALL A SPECIAL SESSION????

God, to have a state with the political leanings of NJ standing up for states’ powers would be terrific. IF that is what they’re doing.

Maybe the press corps will understand “on topic” means “on topic”, and thus refrain from changing the topic to meet their leftist agenda. Way to go big guy.

Normally I’m OK with Gov. Christie, but I really feel that his response to the reporter who was “off topic” was uncalled for. I know he’s brash but he should have some some respect for the office that he holds and not demean it. If you can’t show respect, then he doesn’t deserve respect. I’m really disappointed – I thought he had brains in that fat head. Hope he’s not on the list for VP – talk about a “bully” pulpit. UGH!

@Marie Henry: “I know he’s brash but he should have some some respect for the office that he holds and not demean it.”
      ———————————————————————————————————–
Excuse me? That reporter should show some respect for the office of the Governorship as much or more so than what you’re asking Governor Christie to show. He takes these kind of off-topic questions all the time, even though he repeatedly asks reporters to stay on topic. This idiot was just the straw that broke the camel’s back. If reporters are trying to push a politician into accountability, I’m all for it, as that’s their job. But when the press conference is about a single line item, and there isn’t some big “dig for the truth” thing going on, pushing the questions out into another realm is unnecessary and rude. The reporter got what he deserved.

@Singer: Christie didn’t have to call him an idiot. He could’ve simply responded politely and said “I’m only answering questions related to this topic right now. Anyone else?”. That would’ve made him not only better than Obama, but a lot more respectful.

He didn’t have to call the guy an idiot. Conservatives like to get mad when a reporter on their side isn’t allowed to ask a question (Daily Caller Rose Garden anyone?), but when it’s a Progressive/Liberal reporter asking a question of “their guy”, then it’s a different story. We should be fully capable of listening to both sides (as long as they’re telling the truth about what they believe) and making up our own mind. That last sentence is exactly why I’ve stopped watching Fox News for the most part. The “liberal” side is almost always lying through their teeth.

If you don’t trust Christie, then please tell me that you don’t trust Obama, I would rather have a truthful and to the point man like Christie call me an idiot then some Kenyan War Lord lying whenever he opens his mouth, or the same Kenyan War Lord use Executive Privilege where not applicable just to save his own arse.
If you think Obama used Executive Privilege to save his homie Holder then you are blind, deaf and dumb, Obama would sell his own mother to protect himself just like any other criminal that snitches out his partner in crime to stay out of jail.

Idiot – Reporter = same word. The irritating useless dummies in school were the ‘reporter type’. The extent of their approach to investigative methods is the smelling bicycle seats and reporting what someone had for lunch. That is the depth of their thinking capacity.

I think he is perfect for us here in NJ. He’s conservative for issues that actually affect us, such as fiscally, but does not get caught up in social or religious issues which most people here don’t care about as much. Republicans should put more people like him in office.

Baddoggy, I agree that Christie is not conservative enough but I admire that he has that Italian, “In Your Face” style, and I bet he could back his style up by laying a beatin’ on anybody that thinks it is phoney.
I don‘t think he is the right man to run on Romney’s ticket as VP, but would love to hear him tell all the arseholes in the UN what to go do with themselves, and also get down and dirty with the black caucus when they show their racist attitudes in session.
In life we have those that talk the talk but Christie could also walk the walk, and with all of his liberal leanings, he is showing that he is conservative as the Governor of NJ, he is taking on the union thugs, not increasing taxes like every liberal Democrat before him, doesn‘t get fudge packed like McGreevy and doesn’t take shyte from the liberal media. NJ is heading in the right direction financially and that means allot during the last 3 and a half years while our Country is falling into the abyss of Marxism and hurting financially like a broke d.ck dog.
