Watch Clips of ‘The Simpsons’ Spoofing Beck…That Glenn Loves

The Simpsons Spoofs Glenn Beck & Fox News | Homer Simpson

Last night, “The Simpsons” spoofed cable news programming and a few well-known personalities — including Glenn Beck. The famed (and often infamous), animated show portrayed Homer Simpson as the host of a political show called “Gut Check.”

While no official names were used during the episode, Mediaite’s James Crugnale claims that the show tweaked “Glenn Beck’s over-the-top persona.” And BuzzFeed’s Whitney Jefferson called the depiction “the best Glenn Beck impression I’ve ever seen.”

The Simpsons Spoofs Glenn Beck & Fox News | Homer Simpson

Crugnale delved into the episode’s background in detail:

The premise of the episode is that Homer has become a viral internet video sensation after Bart uploads footage of him having an Alec Baldwin-esque airplane meltdown.

His YouTube stardom earns him a spot as a commentator on cable news show HeadButt, with commentary from Adriatica Veljohnson (a not-too-subtle jab at Arianna Huffington). Homer goes off script, and claims to speak for “those real people out there who buy their coffee from the mini-mart and grab enough sugar packs for a week. Honest, hardworking, sugar-stealing Americans!”

The Simpsons Spoofs Glenn Beck & Fox News | Homer Simpson

Following Homer’s on-air rant, executives decided to give him his own show — “Gut Check.” “I’m a loudmouth who says things you’re afraid to say, but not racist things!,” he boldly says on the program. Later, Homer cries on-air, as he rails on about a Nebraska high school’s choice to replace football with soccer.

Below, watch Beck discuss his take on World Cup soccer back in May 2011 (around 3:00):

The Huffington Post covered the episode as well, though the outlet failed to mention the potential spoof on its founder:

Homer becomes the voice of the people, earning his own talk show on a network very similar to Fox News. There, he can spout his opinions and say what the common man is thinking, never mind that he’s incredibly ill-informed and ignorant on politics.

Here’s part one of the Simpsons spoof. Pay attention to the news ticker, which displays, “Gingrich looks forward to win, fourth Wife,“ ”Rick Perry mistakingly signs order to execute himself“ and ”Europe puts Greece on eBay,“ among other ”headlines”:

Here’s the second part:

On his radio show Monday, Beck found humor in the clips and said that he enjoyed watching them, as he knows that “The Simpsons” takes aim at both liberals and conservatives.

More liberal tricks. Beck I’m a fan. But why would the Simpsons ridicule you ? Aren’t you putting together a comedy made by the simpsons on GBTV ?

I would be on my way to canceling that. I know you might not feel that way. But what would a liberal do ? answer the question then do the same. They will never feel the pain for their ill humor if we just keep shrugging it off. It was funny the first few times, but when they choice to run over conservatives with a bus then back over them again. It just shows how unfair it is. I would not play their game, because it is obvious they do not play by fair rules. You could make a season of infinite episodes ridiculing democrats on FACTS, but they fail to take advantage of that. Seems to me they are not worth doing business with.

    Put your foot down Beck.

I think the more libbytards attack Conservatives … the more it exposes their agaenda. It makes it real easy for me … If they’re for it … I’m against it. We will know them by their actions. The simpsons has been around since the Tracy Ullman Show … who still watches it ? It’s like watching Married with Children.

Your point might be valid if you are one of the ******** that actually get their news from cartoons and John Stewart. The rest of us enjoy comedy, it keeps us from screaming our heads off in sheer helplessness. I rather enjoyed the begining of the clip where Mr Beck was “more like Ron Paul” than Sarah Palin! We may win Glenn over yet.

Truest clip, however, was the one with Glenn talking to Bill about that most horrible of all sports…soccer! Keep your soccer Europe and the rest! It is lame like the rest of your crappy nations! The more who hear, the more who look into it. I started watching beck by accident one day and was just like YEAH,YEAH, YEAH!!! So I am now a Becktard. Life has a way of pushing what needs to be pushed even if it comes out as negative at first. Also I am sure Beck will get some commercial time on the simpsons for their new show.

@FoeHammer865… Beck’s name and face is all-over theBlaze! He makes money off it! Then he must be held responsible for every propaganda piece written by his writers! GB must be held responsible for the views of every single employee and every single article written for the tabloid, theBlitzkrieg. He must also promote an extremely bias, “Truth Agenda!” GB must be judged by the Beckbots whom pledge their loyalty to him. Right!?! Hmm… Seems he can dish it, but can NOT take it.

GB allegdes/claims that RP wrote the newsletters and should be held accountable! GB should be held responsible in the SAME manner over HIS propaganda machine, TheBlitz. GB is a clown rodeo that sold out for $$$ and the power of influence over your mind.

How did GB like being called names when he was @fox news???? Yet, he joins the same people who called him an Anti-semitic racist, to bash Paul? Interesting.

I’ve always thought the Simpsons was a show full of 6th grade potty humor, disrespect and ignorance; and well below my paygrade. There are a lot more classy and clever cartoons to watch, and none of them are on FOX. I like Phineas and Ferb pretty well, but the classics were Looney Toons ( not the lame remake on today). Those cartoons united the nation in so many ways, not the least of which was during WWII.

Today’s entertainment is mostly Bread and Circuses while the Republic decays around us. “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Read Psalm 11 to find out!

so now simpson‘s give the liberals more amunition that conservatives are just nut job’s and that they are the only smart and sane people. i do not know about the rest of america, but i am tired of the fighting and playground name calling. lets let facts show for themselves. everyone that thinks obama and all his people our the answer move to certain part of this country. then the rest of us conservatives have the other part. then we have two separate countries and then we can see who will succeed and which one will fall. some problems are very simple to solve, like healthcare, allow doctors and medical groups to provide different plans and eliminate insurance companies. change the election of poloticians from advertising and name calling to you travel america and tell americans what you will do and then on a certain day we use the phone and internet to cast a vote. why keep spending billions of dollars on campaigns for what. i do think we need to change how america operates and eliminate some of this goverment regulation.

The best part of te skit is in part one where the guy shows Homer the liberal saying “We want raise your taxes and make your children gay”. That should have been the highlight of the skit in my opinion. The message they were trying to send was they believe Beck is stirring people up with his style. I actually went to a Jesuit high school. I understand the bible probably better than most of you. It is a text that contains relevant lessons but belongs in the context of its time. For instance, the Book of Revelation is a hopeful message about the destruction of the Roman Empire.

I‘m not saying Jesus wasn’t a good man, although there is only one other text that says he even existed; many of his lessons are valid, even if he was merely a myth.

Imperial persecutions of Christians began and/or really intensified under Nero, so the destruction of the Roman Empire would have been a hopeful message.

All the monotheistic religions have much in common. That’s not a coincidence. Christianity espoused many of the seemingly barbaric ideas of Islam until it was reformed during the Council of Trent and other reformations.

Islam is simply less EVOLVED than Christianity.

Well, I am pretty hilarious. I admit that. But, hateful? I don’t hate you. Why would I hate you? I understand you. I don’t hate anyone. I try to understand people, but I don’t hate them. There’s no reason to hate.

If my comparison of you to Ned Flanders offended you, rather than enlightened you, I apologize. I understand you have to think you’re right. I live under no delusion that I can shake your very foundation of being.

      @thereisnogd
Your views of the bible and your understanding of the book of revelation is based upon catholicism which is a denomination of christianity that has far different beliefs and customs than most other forms of christianity. I have met many ex-catholics who were disillusioned with the catholic church so I am not surprised at all by your attitude. If you really know so much about Christ’s teachings then you know the worst sin is losing faith. Now if you really are done with us then go away and dont come back, you wont be missed.

      THEREISNOGOD,
I do not think that you have learned much.
Your posts here show your ignorance for all to see.
I do think that you confuse your distaste for ORGANIZED RELIGION with the existance of GOD.
You went to a Jesuit schoool. Big la la freaking deal.
Your hatred of organized religion does not make you a person who can make the idiotic cavalier statements that you have posted.

ISLAM is less evolved than CHRISTIANITY?
That statement alone shows that you have no knowledge of History or truth.

Symbolism … Was that why the Obama Camp hired so many artist for the purpose of dreaming up new and progressive art work for more and more images. Especially, given that most of his supporters can hardly read if at all. Yes, images (no one does them better than Obama) are the inspiration for all new ideas and replacing the ideas and beliefs of the past.

Did anyone notice that in Part 2 the map that Homer ended up looked like the donkey? I don’t watch the Simpsons, but have seen clips here and there. My friend, that watches it religiously, even went out and bought all the VHS episodes. I guess I just don’t appreciate the Simpson humor, because I don’t find it funny. I find any Liberals put out is not funny. Now Glenn is funny; I have laughed more watching him than I have any Liberal based show.

I recently went and watched all the Simpsons episodes.. yes 23 seasons. Fantastic, people always claim they were no longer funny after season 8 but wrong. Through season 15 are hysterical, and season 21 on has been a great time :D Far better than copy cat Family Guy. South Park is great too, gotta give them credit for being fair in slaying everyone, every religion, every group, anything lol :)

Actually, I am entertained by fools like you that cannot understand the slippery slope…and trust me – we make our own soap from a beef fat we rendered, just made our own beer, as well as raise and butcher our own poultry. The Amish do not need an idiot box to be entertained.
Now, you just keep watching useless crap and use the tv as a babysitter for your kids while pushing off their exercise to the likes of a video game. EVER SEEN A FAT AMISH KID???? I certainly have not…try picking up a book to learn about charcuterie for real entertainment and personal growth.

Haven’t watched the Simpsons in years never will again. There was time when political comedy was fine but years of one sidedness ands refusal to adress the Liberal policies that collapsed the system have left me jaded to left-wing comedy. I now see it for the liberal socialist propaganda which it always was. It just didn’t matter when I thought our core conservative americanism was stronger.
Today they are the Tokyo Rose,Axis Sally or Hanio Hannah hiden by a supposed tie to America.
