Just-released footage from the deadly tornado in Henryville, Ind. captures the moment the twister ripped through a school bus and sent it smashing into a building.

A video camera aboard the school bus was rolling when the tornado hit, just moments after the bus driver and 11 elementary students fled to safety, according to Indiana’s NewsCenter.
The video begins with a still-intact bus as wind and debris quickly swirl. Audio of the bus driver reveals her giving directions to students.
“A tornado is on the ground guys. Quiet! The tornado is on the ground,” driver Angel Perry is heard saying. “Everybody stay together, all our group together, right now, go, go, go!”
According to Indianapolis ABC affiliate WRTV-TV, Perry was three miles from the school with the students on board when reports of a funnel cloud came in over the radio.
“I stopped the bus for a second, put my hands down and said, ‘Dear Lord, what do I do?’” Perry told the station. She turned the bus around and headed back for the school, where she’s heard counting students as they run into the building.
About three minutes later, the 36,000-pound bus was blown away, first slamming into a car and then lifted and carried across the road, where it crashed into a diner, WRTV reported.

Posted on April 1, 2012 at 7:03amGee wiz, the tornado was so talented and tricky that it opened the back door of the bus and then slammed it shut!

I hope you received a nice raise for your performance. All the parents of those children should be inviting you over for a big BBQ.

God always has the right answer, if we just ask, and listen.

Posted on March 31, 2012 at 12:10pmHaving lived in Indiana for 16 years, my heart goes out to all the people who were affected by this horrific storm. We used to have warnings a couple of times every Summer and I lived in the Northwest corner of the state. But I also spent my youth in central Illinois where we had horrific tornados all the time—-just happy to be out of the Midwest but now have to worry about hurricanes and have been thru two of those! Tornados are over in minutes while hurricanes can last for a couple of days—with tornados as well!

Posted on March 31, 2012 at 12:06pmI am not sure about your analysis. Tornados are not very wide. A school bus might easily just drive at right angles to its path and easily be somewhere else. I am told that if it appears to be not moving you are in trouble. If it is going from right to left or vice versa then you are reasonably safe. Did she just put all the kids into its path? Again I can‘t tell from what we have and nobody is going to criticize her ’cuz she saved the kids. But I for one would not drive towards the thing.

Posted on March 31, 2012 at 10:17amThank God for her listening to the prompting and doing what she was inspired to do. She did a wonderfull job, and was the best protector those kids could have. There are eleven families whose hearts weren’t broken and her family too. I am sure she has been trained well, that and heeding a prompting saved them all. Good is always welcome.
