Watch Kids Go ‘Skylarking’ Alongside Fast-Moving Train

Holding onto the outside door of a train and letting it drag you is called skylarking — at least that’s according to the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority. Urban Dictionary defines it as engaging in “tom foolery or shanaghins.” To others, what you’ll see below is probably just called being stupid.
Watch as these kids go “skylarking” and then proceed to take on other dangerous, monkey-like moves on a fast-moving train:
A Blaze editor also noted that he recently saw an anti-skylarking ad — though he noted it wasn’t referred to as skylarking — on the New York City subway system. Is it on the rise in New York too?

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 6:57amThe NY Transit Authority is STUPID enough to spend money to tell these STUPID people that this is dangerous? WHY SPEND THE MONEY? If they hurt themselves and/or die, that’s their problem because THEY ARE SO FLIPPING STUPID.

Report Post »Yes, I agree with other posts…a perfect example for those who believe in evolution. This is the true ‘evolution’ question.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 3:43amWTF does this kid care?
In India’s caste society, if he loses an arm or his legs it won’t change his life situation and standing one bit there.
All it will affect is his ability to do stupid stuff like that.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 2:01amLooks like video from India, with an electric train powered by overhead lines.
I seem to recall other footage from such shenanigans around an Indian electric train. I don’t know whether the guy was insane, pissed off, or just stupid, but he climbed up on top of the train, and then thought reaching up to grab the overhead cable to steady himself was a good idea.
*ZORCH!* *ZOR*ZORCH!*
His corpse laying on the roof was not just smoking, not just smoldering, but there were visible flames coming off of it.
Take away: These people do not have a long history of rational behaviour around trains.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 1:16amSome of those Indians have the most incredible balance. Check out the video below of the India Monkey King climber, especially the move he makes a little over 30 seconds into the video. Also search youtube for india pole gymnastics, incredible stuff, and, ahem, ladies you can check out the size of the pole pretty easily with the skimpy shorts these guys wear.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 1:09amWhy do they need ads saying not to do this? This is just natural selection at its finest. If some idiot does this and gets wacked of the train by a tunnel entrance or something, scrape him/her off the tracks with a shovel, hose down the impact point, and go about the rest of the day. Think of all the money we would save on welfare if all the stupid people tried doing this.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 9:18pmI agree. Skip the warnings. If some idiot does it, clean up the mess and keep going. They won’t do that of course. Our wonderful nanny state will do the warnings because some idiot’s mommy is going to scream otherwise. I raised 7 kids of my own and half the neighborhood. If any of them had tried that, their backside would have been difficult to sit on. One of mine simply walked on the train tracks, I was told by a neighbor. He never tried it again. Neither did any of the others. They are all responsible decent adults now too, not a single democrat among them, and they all have good jobs.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 12:44amThis reminds me of an article a few years back when some POS rag of a newspaper ran the headline “Navy Attacks Pirates in Indian Ocean” Apparently the “Navy” was the Indian Navy as in India, Country of. But any country’s navy is the “Navy” in a global village blah blah blah. I hate this sort of one world BS. These aren’t “kids”; these are poor b@st@rds trapped in some 3rd world h3LL hole. Hey Liz, stop trying to make the global village thing happen (and this is coming from a man who liked “Slum Dog Millionaire”).

Report Post »mossbrain
Posted on August 31, 2011 at 1:07amYeah women are so smart they breed a bunch of brats, then spend their live long days listening to them fight and yell while they clean house and cook the meals, and if they’re real smart they do all that and hold down a job too. What a wonderful smart life they lead. Of all the fun stuff they could be doing, that is what they end up doing.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 12:33amActually, you Darwin disciples you, the kid will probably father 15 before he’s through with this sojourn. As for you, my fellow computer gawking friends, I suppose your progeny won’t be quite so numerous. Who‘s Darwin’s favored child now????
And as for your claims that this is an activity for stupid people, looks like run of the mill thrill-seeking, stunt-pulling to me. Is every stunt man stupid? Is every thrill-seeker stupid. There’s probably a lower fatality rate for kids engaged in skylarking than for kids engaged in a million other “non-stupid” activities, like driving cars, riding bicycles, swimming, surfing, mountain climbing, hiking, etc. Is everyone that engages in those activities stupid too? Or only the ones that die?
