Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:10pmYou know what?
Voting for conservatives, Tea Party members, and Republicans is not going to help any of this country’s problems one bit! Voting Republican in November won’t help one bit!
Politicians with conservative ideological commitment have historically been shown to make each and every single problem this country has and make them even WORSE!
I hate the individual mandate as well. But Obamacare is based on the Mitt Romney health care plan in Massachusetts, which was vetted by the right-wing Heritage Foundation!!! Obamacare is a CONSERVATIVE health care plan.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:16pmSo what’s your plan, oh great and enlightened one?
If we let the Dems have any more say we‘re on the same road Europe’s going down. Socialism, death panels, one half of the people paying for the other half of the people who don’t want to work, islamization. Sounds like a real treat to me.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:26pmResults of MassCare (reported in 2009):
1). Nearly a quarter of a million people in the state still don’t have health insurance
2). Health care spending has increased by 28%, health care premiums have increased 8-10% per year.
3). New regulations limit choices and increases costs
4). Longer waits due to a doctor shortage

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:27pmNVRFORGET, here’s my plan. simplify the health care system. Extend medicare to ALL United States citizens. This would actually cut costs and make the system more efficient. You could still have a private market for insurance too, but the shift of focus away from serving corporate insurance company interests to the American people instead makes all the difference.
For the record, contrary to stock conservative talking points, Europe is not some massive socialist bloc. The European model is actually a viable alternative for America because there’s more financial stability in Europe. I don’t know how you define socialism, but Freedom House ranks the United States as well as Europe as among the most free nations, in terms of economic freedom.
Europe’s problem with Islam lies in the fact that they do not know how to let ethnic minorities assimilate into their culture. It has nothing to do with their economic policy.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:31pmI can share your skepticism, but you cannot let the Progressive Movement succeed. If you keep dems this fall in power you will never stop this crazy road to socialistic everything. Keep the faith that if some of the conservatives change their stripes in Washington next year we can take them out too! One by one! Not by what they say but by what they do! This is just the beginning!

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:41pmWell, I could not disagree with you more PROGRESSIVES, I think voting for conservatives, Tea Party members, and Republicans is the only way to save our country, you progressives are about a heartbeat away from destroying it IMO.
Report Post »Considering that Democrats have historically and predominately held a supermajority in congress/senate, and enacted progressive policies that have been so destructive, we are still living with many fom earlier in the century today. About the only time Repubs/conservatives get control is when the electorate is so angry with progressive policies that they revolt.
No doubt in my mind that if we can take control in Nov. we will hold the houses for a long time, and it will improve our current situation and they will stay in power longer this time around, until they forget and start acting like Democrats again.
Please explain to me how Obama care, a national government run h/c plan was a conservative plan? The conservative plan was tort reform, national sales of insurance and fraud reform and recovery.
Nonsense like yours is why the average American always revolts when progressives seem to be achieving the “America” they so dream of and drool over. It is the opposite of the America that the average person enjoys, warts and all.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:46pmProgressives,
I’ve heard the argument that extending health care to all Americans would make it cheaper. You’ll probably agree that this sounds counterintuitive? Giving all the people who already cannot afford health care health care I and other tax payers have to pay for doesn’t really sound like it would make anything cheaper.
The problem I have with the European system is the state controls everything. Health care, unemployment benefits, banks etc. The tax payer has no choice but to pay for these things and, being state run, I cannot imagine them being in any way efficient. And taxes are what, 30%-40% of what you earn? I don’t see how I could afford something like that on top of everything else.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:04pmThe whole 9/12 Project was an exercise in exploitation of tragedy for the purposes of furthering a rather flawed political agenda.
the legacy of how The Bush Administration (including Republicans, conservatives, and independents who sypmathize with those actions) handled the tragedy on 9/11 speaks for itself:

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:08pmExactly. Gut the social spending, cut the handouts. Let those people work. Kill Medicare and Medicaid. People who didn‘t plan for their future shouldn’t get medical care that I have to pay for. It‘s this lack of foresight and personal responsibility that’s killing America.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:19pmI do believe it is the NineTwelvers who have take the most asinine side of the argument.
A country uniting behind a tragedy is a good thing in principle, it would seem. However, if a country unites behind a tragedy and starts to get led astray by the proposition of the horrendous policies and attitudes of the Bush Administration, then there’s a huge problem.
That’s when we get ourselves stuck in wars that are ostensibly to “fight terrorism,” even though truth is that we’re trying to make the Middle East & Central Asia more politically compatible with Western interests in a neoliberal context.
We also run into problems with civil liberties. Think about the PATRIOT act. There’s a major expansion of government right there
Then we also start stimulate our economy in the worst ways possible. We spend lavishly on the two major engines of economic growth in this country:
1. The Military Sector.
2. The Crime Control Sector.
We turn into a a police state

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 4:23pmThat‘s a reply I’d expect from a nine year old. As I said, good job.
What can I say? “No you”? “I am rubber, you are glue”?
No wait, I’d rather say this:
If you people would just ignore that idiot danglingbags there’d be no problem here. But what do we get? Dozens and dozens of responses for his moronic crap. He doesn’t even have to show up in a section to get people to talk about him. Just STOP IT. Swallow your reply. Ignore. It’s not hard not to do something.
