Cain Willing to Take Lie Detector Test to Prove Sexual Assault Allegations False

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (The Blaze/AP) — A defiant Herman Cain declared Tuesday he would not drop his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in the face of allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior.

“Ain‘t gonna’ happen,” Cain said at a news conference a day after a fourth woman accused him of unwanted sexual advances.

“We will get through this,” he added, trying to steady a campaign that has been rocked by the controversy for the past 10 days.

Cain denied anew that he had ever behavior inappropriately and said the alleged incidents “they simply didn’t happen.” He said he would be willing to take a lie detector test if he had a good reason.

Earlier in the day, Cain sought to undercut the credibility of the latest woman whose accusations are threatening his Republican presidential campaign. His chief rival, Mitt Romney, weighed in for the first time, calling the allegations “particularly disturbing.”

Press conference part one:

Press conference part two:

Cain said he called the news conference because he wanted to speak directly to the public, accusing the media of distorting his response to the allegations. He said that had never seen Sharon Bialek until she called her news conference on Monday in New York, alongside attorney Gloria Allred.

“I don’t even know who this woman is,” he said of Bialek. “I tried to remember if I recognized her and I didn’t.”

Another name confronted Cain, as well, when one of his two original accusers was identified publicly by news organizations including The Associated Press as Karen Kraushaar, now a spokeswoman in the Treasury Department’s office of inspector general for tax administration.

When asked about Kraushaar, Cain said he recalled her accusation of sexual harassment but insisted “it was found to be baseless.”

Cain contended that “the Democratic machine” was pushing the allegations but said he could not point to anyone in particular. He also suggested his accusers were lying.

Earlier, Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who has been a GOP front-runner for months, told ABC News/Yahoo! the allegations were serious “and they’re going to have to be addressed seriously.” He called the latest accusations disturbing, and Cain didn’t disagree, both in an earlier interview and at the news conference.

“He’s right. They are disturbing to me,” Cain said. “They are serious. And I have taken them seriously.”

But they’re untrue, he declared.

“I reject all of those charges,” he said, adding that “I have never acted inappropriately with anyone” and didn’t even recognize Bialek.

Prominent Republicans pressed for a full accounting.

“Get all the facts in front of people, otherwise he’s going to have this continuing distraction,” Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a former Republican National Committee chairman with deep ties to the GOP establishment, told MSNBC.

Though recent polling shows Cain still doing well, party operatives suggested it was only a matter of time before his political standing could suffer.

“Herman’s base is going to stick with him,” said Republican strategist Rick Tyler, Newt Gingrich’s former spokesman. “But the average Republican voter who is not as engaged as intensely in the race, is sick of this and, for Cain, the concern is they will pass on it and pass on him.”

Cain looked to keep those supporters in his corner.

“We are not going to allow Washington or politics to deny me the opportunity to represent this great nation,” he said.

“As far as these accusations causing me to back off and maybe withdraw from this presidential primary race? Ain‘t gonna’ happen. Because I’m doing this for the American people, and the children and the grandchildren.”

Cain’s interview with Jonathan Karl from earlier in the day can be viewed here.

That is right he is innocent until proven guilty but that will not stop them from putting out more until they think he will fall apart and quit. Not likely to happen. Here is an anchor saying there is more to come: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/nov/anchor_cain_more.html

In the conference one of the reporters asked a question about an accuser they just talked to, and said what did she accuse you of. WAIT, she will come out in the next few hours or day.

I’ve already looked over the other Candidates. Do you think we just blindly decided to pick Cain because, what? We like his smile, the crease in his pants? Yeah…we didn’t bother to look at any other candidate. We just looked at Cain, and said that’s it.
I looked at ALL the candidates. I picked Cain out of them all because I felt he was best for the job. Who else do we got? Seriously…who else do we have? Most aren’t even in the top percentage. Gingrich is going up…the one who sucked up to Pelosi, and thought how global warming is great. We got Romney who’s getting really close. He’s someone that the heads of both parties love! Anyone who can‘t tell he’s a Rhino and part of the problem is never going to learn. Herman Cain is the CEO of a pizza place, and many other food chains.. You’re not going to get more down to earth and understanding of who we are than him. He’s been involved in the Navy…hell, he’s even survived stage 4 cancer! I feel he certainly has a lot more credentials for this job, then Obama ever had.

Then again, look who I’m talking to. If you’re actually accusing us of being racist, then I’m probably wasting my breath. You’re just another lib. You’re the racist. And you‘re spouting this cuz you’re scared to death that a black is going to possibly go up against another black.

Cain’s smoke and mirrors are going to burn him, Rush and Hannity. He is truly a “fake it until you make it” wanna be. Another egocentric liar that will say anything to get where or what he wants.
“He said that had never seen Sharon Bialek until she called her news conference on Monday in New York, alongside attorney Gloria Allred.”
“Jacobson described that at a Tea Party convention in October, the accuser, Sharon Bialek, rushed Herman Cain backstage. She held his attention for 2-3 minutes, and after what appeared to be an intense and in-depth discussion Bialek stormed off.
Amy said she doesn’t know what was said, but that it looked like she “has a point to make” and then left quickly.
Jacobson said she has no reason to doubt Bialek, and that the number of women coming forward leads her to believe that Cain has done something inappropriate. She did acknowledge that it was going to be a ‘he said/she said’ situation”

Psychosis . . . No one thinks he was born in Kenya? Really? how about Herb Cain?

GOP Presidential Candidate Herman Cain seems to be getting a wee bit Sarah Palin-like with his analysis. During a recent interview with Bloomberg’s Jeffrey Gooldberg, Cain stated that President Obama was raised in the African country, instead of Indonesia, where he spent his childhood.Sean Hannity not two weeks ago said, “He was raised in Kenya.”

      How about Huckabee?

“But then if you think about it, his perspective as growing up in Kenya with a Kenyan father and grandfather, their view of the Mau Mau Revolution in Kenya is very different than ours because he probably grew up hearing that the British were a bunch of imperialists who persecuted his grandfather.”

How about Sean Hannity . . .”He grew up in Kenya.”

You really don‘t know what you’re talking about. I’ve followed Herman Cain for over a year and thought he was a very good candidate for that whole time. At some point we have got to wake up and realize that accusation does not equal guilt! And just as a side note, while all this is going with Mr. Cain and these accusers, what’s happening with the Fast and Furious disaster? What’s happening with the Palestinian statehood movement in the UN? What’s going on with the Solyndra mess? Notice how no one is talking or thinking about these things? Watch the other hand, anyone?
Just because someone has an opinion of a candidate you do not perhaps agree with, hardly gives you cause to chastise those who perhaps know more about that candidate than you do. Also, the fact that a large number of people choose to remain loyal to the candidate, in spite of what is plainly a massive smear campaign, an effort to drum Mr. Cain out of the race, that loyalty might just be something for you to consider as you consider candidates. Consider also, perhaps loyal supporters feel they have already thoroughly vetted the candidate. I would suggest you open your mind a smidgen and not be so harsh. In theory, all we conservatives are on the same side.
Also, how dare you suggest that his supporters would only support him because he’s black, or because of guilt? That is a remark worthy of a leftist of say, Toure’s caliber. Shame on you! *Please*, lets toss out the race card once an

When he said he’d never met Bailek or talked to her…didn’t know who she was…he followed it up saying that unless later he somehow made some connection. Cain seems to give himself a possible “out” too easily and too often.

But he is black and if that makes you feel less guilty, than why don’t you just come out and say it.

Agree 100%. Sad that this always have to happen for political elections. So much dirty moves that it’s no wonder that the only ones who ever run are slime enough to hide their misgivings or pay the right enablers to dirty their opponents. What’s really sad is that Mr. Cain had to state that he would take a lie detector test in order to appease the press. We all deserve the garbage that is D.C. since we allowed it to happen. I say we, but I now have to remove myself from the fray since I’ve not limited myself to a just the Republican party; I have voted for independents in the past and hope to in the future. Again, I have to unfortunatley abO this time since it’s imperative to do so. I do hope the Republicans actually pick a candidate where I don’t have to hold my nose with both hands and pull the lever with my elbow though. The guy I still hold the highest regards to in this bunch is Mr. Cain, and I still believe him and trust him. I still have your back Mr. Cain. :)

I haven’t heard any of the talk radio/Fox News shows, etc. talk about the 2010 election where Gloria Allred suddenly appeared on the CA political seen to discredit Meg Whitman for hiring/firing an illegal who was working in Meg’s home. Until that point in time Meg looked to have a chance of being elected and then everything blew up when the allegation came out.

Maybe we should just force murder suspects to prove their innocence as well by taking a lie detector test. If they fail, then they’re guilty, right? There’s a reason these tests are inadmissible in a court of law. An innocent person could set the machine off just from the nerves of having the question asked, while a sociopath can fake out a lie detector because they can’t empathize and will give no response. That was a loaded question by the reporter. Cain is damned whatever he says. If he says yes, then there will be a spectacle of a presidential candidate going through the humiliation of taking a lie detector test. If he says no, then everyone assumes he’s hiding something. This media is DESPICABLE!

      RESTORED ONE

In 2007, I attended a global Human Resource meeting in Prague. I was in a group photo with several people. I knew two of the others in the group. We put our arms around each other’s waist to get closer to frame the shot. I did not know the woman next to me. We had a short conversation. I know we exchanged names. If I saw this person again, I most likely not recognize her. The only reason I recall it now is because of the issue of Herman Cain situation.

I can understand why it is possible that Cain may not have recognized Ms. Bialek.

The whole situation strikes me as fishy. If there‘s the equivalent of Monica’s Blue Dress in this situation I’ll happily drop Mr. Cain like a bad habit. Lie detectors prove nothing and it’s not THAT hard to fool one with a little training. I like his plan because I took my receipts from the past year and plugged in the numbers… 9-9-9 will reduce my outlay in taxes by $2800-3200 per year.

The odd connections between the accusers and Mr. Cain’s opponents are suspicious, but not proof either. The most recent accusations would be criminal, if true, and I’d like the accuser to explain why she chose not to file charges if she was so outraged. What little I’ve heard of the other accusations seem to indicate that Mr. Cain can be a bit of a jerk. Why do I care about that? Does anyone think the slick, polished, friendly image cultivated on TV is Obama’s REAL face (Or Clinton? Or Bush? Or Reagan?).

He might as well be walking down a hallway wearing a sign that says “Kick Me”. Why is guilt assumed when there is no evidence to support such a thing? Accusations are NOT evidence. It all boils down to he said-she said. The press should be demanding solid proof before they bandy this sort of slanderous, life-damaging gossip all over the airwaves. If it were a leftist or liberal of any stripe, they would demand hard-copy proof, or they would be tearing up the character of the women who came forward. But this juicy morsel is just too tempting to pass up!–A popular conservative accused of sexual harassment or assault, which is by it’s very nature the “Sacred Cow” of all accusations. It’s too perfect for a leftist press to let go! According to some, and apparently you, If he maintains his innocence, he‘s clearly lying and he’s saying that his accusers are lying, so that adds insult to injury–he dares to say women are lying about being sexually harassed. So innocent or not, what is he supposed to do here? Maintaining his innocence should not be counted as proof of his guilt; that is nothing less than ridiculous. Well your correct, she was ‘outed’. However she might to a presser so this is gonna get interesting. Of course you’ll deem her a plant because she works for the government so whats the point. Keep circling the wagon’s, Cain’s doing a great job destroying himself and draining all your funds in the process ;)

I believe Romney’s camp created this. Romney is not a businessman. Romney is a life politician who is born of a life politician. All Romney knows is politics. Romney is not pro business. Romney is big government. Romney will do whatever it takes, quietly, to eliminate rivals. It is his style. He will also say whatever needs to be said to be elected then once he is elected do whatever he wants. Romney is O light.

Really? Not trying to bash ya, but If they were true Mormons I find that hard to believe. That is one thing we (yup, mormon) usually do good at, being upright and trustworthy and what I usually hear non-mormons mention that really know us, you must not be dealing with good members or had some bad experiences.

I am not sure here, but want to give him the benefit of the doubt, I see way to many folks judge others without knowing all the facts (especially on these boards:), so I don’t like to start throwing stones.

I like Mr Cain, and lean believe him, but his statement that he does not know her is interesting as there is a witness of her talking to him backstage a month or so back.

Perhaps with all the stuff going on with the election, perhaps he really did not remember that meeting, and perhaps that is why she is so mad, she is mad he does not even remember her?

At this time in the campaign, to think it’s the Left throwing this at him is remarkable banal thinking for “Master Yoda.”

Obama and the Left aren’t concerned with him right now. Knocking down Republican front runners is something they’ll only concern themselves with *after* the GOP nominee is known… or at least whittled down to 2-3 candidates.

No, this isn’t the Dems. This is the GOP eating its own and killing the nation’s future.

Before this is all done, we’ll be stuck with Romneycare or Newt, who once supported Pelosi-style legislation in reaction to global warming bunk.

Does a minor indiscretion committed years ago, disqualify a presidential candidate? If this is true the only candidates qualified to be President are those that haven’t had that background investigated. The truth is that by the time a person is old enough to run for president he has to have done some things he is not proud of. Former indiscretions are irrelevant except as an indication of the character of the candidate, the older the indiscretions, especially those indiscretions that are not repeated, the less bearing it has on the candidates character. People change. One should not be crucified for mistakes made long ago and not repeated. The important thing about a candidate is:
    1. Is the candidate a “radical for Capitalism” or a RINO?
    2. Does the candidate have the knowledge and skill to execute the office of president?
    3. Will the candidate’s character flaws (we all have character flaws) affect the candidate’s execution of the office of President?

    The question is not:
    1. Did the candidate commit a minor indiscretion many years ago?
    2. Did the candidate misspeak and create a “gotcha moment”?
The media blitzes all embarrassing incidents and all “gotcha moments” involving a candidate that might be a “radical for Capitalism” yet ignores a $500 million crime ( Solyndragate) by a sitting President,
