NYC Marks Anniversary of 9/11

NEW YORK (AP) – Bells have tolled throughout New York City and mourners have observed a moment of silence to mark the time terrorists began their attack on America nine years ago.
Politics threatened to overshadow Saturday’s day of mourning for nearly 3,000 Sept. 11 victims amid a polarizing national debate over a mosque planned blocks from the World Trade Center site.
The first plane hijacked by Islamic extremists hit the center’s north tower at 8:46 a.m. in 2001. Within hours, both towers were rubble and thousands were dead there, at the Pentagon and at a crash site in Shanksville, Pa.
Thousands of demonstrators for and against the planned Islamic center were expected after—and perhaps during—the typically somber anniversary ceremony.

According to several recent mainstream newspaper articles, the following people/groups support building the mosque at Ground Zero: U.S. President Obama, N.Y. Mayor Bloomberg, Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan, Hamas Terrorists Groups, N.Y. Imam Rauf. My Mom ask me to ask Why the President of the United States would align himself with people who ALL have ‘Interests’ other than the Sovereignty/Safety of the U.S.A.?

Second, why did President Obama defend the right of the muslims to build a mosque and he refused to answer if it was sensible to build that close to Ground Zero? But with Pastor Jones he did not defend his right to burn the Koran and he told him it was insensible? What’s the difference? They were both practicing their rights but sensibility wise their both wrong! Mr. President you can denounce something when it is morally wrong, even if it thier right to do it. You have no problem doing it with certain groups of people.
You have to treat both sides the same on this issue.

I was in the kitchen making coffee, the spoon gently clanged the sides of the cup, as I walked into the living room & grabbed the remote, sat down and clicked on channel six to watch Good Morning America. As I did, a red band flashed on the TV, as a news reporter was reporting, that a small plane had hit one of the Twin Towers in New York. The video of the burning tower rolled behind the reporter, as I watched intently, Suddenly, from out of no where, another plane entered the picture, in what looked like slow motion, struck the second tower! I sat stunned as t took a moment for me to gather my thoughts, but then, I knew, I knew, we were under attack. I quickly ran & woke up my daughter, I shook her a few times, but ended up shouting to her ” Get Up, Were Under Attack”! I said, “Two Planes Just Hit The Twin Towers in New York”! My hands shook, as I dialed the phone number where my husband worked. My mind drifted, as I whispered to my self, “I ‘ve Got to Call, My Son” but the phone lines were already jammed. When I finally reached him, I didn’t even say hello, the only words I could muster was ” My God, Two Planes Just Hit the Twin Towers in New York”, Were Under Attack”! Try as he might to calm me down, I paced the floor, while he was still on the phone, I walked out onto the back deck, and looked up to the sky. In confusion, I was shaking like a child in PA, as New York burned. My mind was adrift, as I spoke to my husband, & silently wondered, were there more planes coming?, Where would they hit next?, I looked morbidly at the nuclear power plant not far away. I hung up the phone & tried to call our son, 25 minutes had passed, still no contact. I couldn’t even speak, my daughter & I sobbed, watching in horror, people holding hands & jumping off the twin towers to their deaths below, It was either burn to death or jump. Sniveling like a child, I finally reached our son at work and could only blurt out, that “New York’s Been Attacked”_Just then, a Silence fell_as my daughter and I watched in disbelief, the first of the Twin Towers collapse under the late morning skies, the AMERICA WE KNEW, WOULD NEVER BE THE SAME.
Our Heads are Bowed in Thought and Prayer, as we Remember those who’s Lives were Lost & Forever Changed, on 9/11___MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 12:56pmI was starting to do the typical chores of the day, dishes after breakfast, vacumming, etc, .. my soon to be husband was already at work …. (Corrections Officer in the State of NJ) …the TV was on, but I cannot tell you what was playing on it … the Phone Rang …. My dear friend, Pam who is typically a bubbly person asked “Are YOU Watching the TV?”…. at that point I said, “NO” but quickly turned up the volume to see on FOX News …. they were showing the first airplane that hit the World Trade Center …. I asked her “what the heck is going on ……. ” … she answered like most,”we don;t know but I just wanted to tell you …. I have to go .. more people to call” ….
Even before the second plane hit, I had a HORRIBLE feeling that …. this is another day, that I will remember … like the day, as a child, when my teacher came in and said ….. “The President of the United States has been killed ….. ” as we all burst into tears …..
When that thought was done …… I was snapped back to reality by a voice on Fox News, Exclaiming that “another plane has hit the twin towers ….. this is not an accident …. I think we are being attacked” …..
Almost on que … my husband to be called me from work … he asked “if I was OK … and to stay put where I am …… and that he might have to stay in NJ because they didn’t know what else was going on .. but not to worry” ….. That feeling in the pit of my stomach just got bigger and more intense …. I kept looking outside the window ….. thinking …. HOW can this be happening ….. while looking at beautiful blue skies and perfectly white clouds just floating by as if nothing had happened ….. I went out to the deck …. looked up at several white lines in the sky …. that would be the trails of airplanes … but liveing between Philadelphia – Boston – Washington, DC area ….. were they Jet Fighters …..
what was REALLY surprising …. was how quiet it was ….. nothing …. even though we live out in the country …. it was AMAZINGLY Quiet …..
I, like many, were glued to the TV …. watching in HORROR … at the attacks …. the buildings collapsing …. the SHOCK of it alll ….. the only normal part of that day … was the doggies … that wanted to do what doggies wanted to do … …. the rest of the day was a blur of TV reporters … cameras showing ….. until finally my Steven came home from work ….. NOT much sleep that night … how could this be happening ….
Here we are .. 9 years later …. different people in the White House ….. not feeling secure again …. the feeling in the pit of my stomach is starting to feel ….. that something BIG is going to happen again … but when … and where ….
I will always Remember ….. this is NOT A DAY OF SERVICE … as some people want to make it … IT IS A DAY TO REMEMBER ….. We must Pray for our Great Country … and we MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER 9/11 and the people who caused it!!

We have phone calls phone calls to loved ones saying that a plane they ARE ON has been hijacked Middle Eastern men. We have cockpit voice recorders detailing fights, screams. We have the entire Muslim world cheering. Osama happy to take credit for the attack, and people still try to blame the whole attack on President Bush. It is insanity. One has to be insane to deny reality.

Amazing how the country (with the exception of a day of remembrance today) really has forgotten.
Less than 1 year ago there was the attempt on Christmas Day in Detroit and of course Fort Hood here in Texas.
They‘re not done and we’re fools if we believe these attacks are going to stop.

I have taught my kids the meaning of 9-11, funny how our babysitters (15-17) haven;t the foggiest notion about 9-11. They have originals of the 9-11 documentary by the French brothers for a modern history lesson.
