A carrier whose mission was accomplished put up a banner saying just that as they arrived at their home port! What is the big deal? Bush visited the carrier to welcome them home. His “people” did not insist they take the banner down so it stayed. And he was proud to welcome them home as they HAD accomplished their mission! I am proud of our troops – each one of them can proclaim from the rooftops, as far as I am concerned “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” when they come home. They each in their turn HAS accomplished what they were sent to do. And thank you to those whose Mission was also Accomplished but they did not make it home.

Being unable to locate the order of march for this particular Dog and Pony show, please accept the following as speculation based on experience.
The soldiers present were likely not volunteers. I dare say they were selected. Dog and Pony shows are never volunteered for… why in hell would anyone volunteer to go through all that hassle? A grunt’s job is too fast-paced and mission oriented, the last thing he wants to do is spend valuable garrison time polishing brass.
A unit got tapped, no-way is a colonel turning down an op for His battalion to be represented, so he selects his best company. “Best” is often arbitrarily based upon the Col in question’s judgement of course. The Colonel -rightfully so- feels he is doing a favor for that Company Commander, this is Name Recognition for an officer’s future career, or to pad the chances for a Star.
Joe on the Line likely doesn‘t give a rat’s backside and would rather be having a cold one, but he’s going to follow a lawful order regardless.
Over 2000 people present. It’s unlikely two battalions were fully represented, I haven‘t seen a ’guest‘ list for this particular rodeo but I’d guess there were single companies from several units.
So please, stop making an utter fool of yourself with these snide potshots.

The ideas of most of the people on this website are colored. And that color prevents you from viewing any action of the President objectively.

I have actually noticed that, as well.
Now, I understand that the strategy is to show the difference between what Constitutional responsibilities and powers come with the office of the Presidency and what Obama is doing – honoring Obama when he conforms to the Constitution, and outrage when he doesn’t;
But this strategy is only consistent with the belief that Obama means well. Which is why it is so bizarre to hear people like Glenn Beck and certain posters here, who know Obama is an enemy of the United States, to expect him to want to conform to the Constitution.
