WASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) — President Barack Obama says the budget he plans to send to Capitol Hill next month will trim spending with a scalpel, not a chain saw, and that it will save about $400 billion.
In an interview Thursday on YouTube, Obama also gave one example of a program that might be cut, citing community action grants for cities.
Said Obama: “Frankly, we’re just going to have to trim some of these programs.”
He said the administration wants to “cut with a scalpel, as opposed to a chain saw” and revealed that the budget will save about $400 billion.
Moments earlier he claimed the spending freeze he proposed in his State of the Union speech was essentially the same thing as a spending “cut” since America’s population is on the rise.
The White House has said the budget plan will be rolled out the week of Feb. 14.

(CNSNews.com) – First lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday said she was “thrilled” to announce a new program that asks U.S. businesses to allow employees to spend part of the work day volunteering with young people. The program will be run by the federal agency tasked with overseeing volunteerism in the United States.
“And that’s why today, I am thrilled to announce that the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) has teamed up with several major companies to establish a Corporate Mentoring Challenge,” Obama said at a summit held by CNCS and the National Mentoring Partnership MENTOR at the Library of Congress.
“This is a program calling on businesses of all sizes to allow their employees to mentor for short periods during the work day, giving kids positive role models and offering employees a way to give back,” Obama said. “And they’ve already received new commitments from leading companies who have agreed to harness their resources and help us make a difference on a very large scale.

This man gives $ 2 Billion for Brazil’s off-shore drilling and while he regulates our oil and gas industry out of existence. And since when is nuclear and natural gas NOT clean energy? We need jobs, and this guy refuses to allow us to create millions of jobs using our own resourses, which in turn would bring in trillions of dollars in needed revenue. WTF?

Posted on January 27, 2011 at 2:52pmAs a voting taxpayer and registered Republican I cannot find the words to truly express my utter disappointment and disgust for the current administration and congress. Both have failed the taxpayers and continue to fail. They do not deserve to be re-elected. Nor do they all deserve the “pay raises they voted for themselves”! In most job the “boss” gives employees an annual review of job performance which determines those who receive raises, salaries to be frozen, salaries to be cut by a percentage or termination to those who have not accomplished their promised goals. Here, we the people are the bosses and the administration and congress are our employees. And yet these career politicians select and approve their own raises without taxpayer approval? I am tired to the buzz word acronyms and incessant talk from both parties. I would like to see suitcases in all of their hands after the next election. Question: What part of curb the spending didn’t you hear?

My father used to say watch out for the pennies, the dollars will take care of themselves. Speaking of cents, stop the fancy dinners, it’s like salt in the wounds of the American people, you have people in this country that can’t even afford to eat, and you are there………….smoozing, listening to your music, eating the exotic foods, which really sir, makes it look like you don‘t give a rat’s rear about this country.
