Editor’s note: this post originally contained a live video stream. That stream has now closed. We are keeping the story open for comments, however.

MSNBC has live video of the protesters clashing in Cairo. Gunshots have been heard in the background:

    MSNBC should have sent their opinion show hosts (can’t call them news) into the crowd. I would have loved to see Maddow and Matthews being drug behing chariots.

    They were chanting something MSNBC didn’t want the world to hear. So they turned down the sound

    I just can’t believe how many people on this post are making light of all of this. Don’t you guys understand how serious this is? GEAUXALREADY is a case in point. He must be a toothless redneck from Louisiana because that’s how idiots like him are perceived.
    To all you retired goofballs who don‘t have anything to do all day but act like bored adolescents keep your silliness to yourselves and don’t say anything unless it’s worth saying!

      @GDHUS

      My sentiments exactly. To make light of this is a very bad idea. This is huge, and I believe will effect us all in the short term as this violence spreads and increases in intensity. This is “The Event” that the Progressives have been waiting for and if Egypt falls (as it already has) and the Muslim Brotherhood takes over the majority leadership. We‘re in for major trouble on top of the coming inflation and other problems we’ve been experiencing.

    in a free country they wouldn’t be throwing rocks ,and presumably it would run it’s course at an accellerated pace.unfortunately both sides in this conflict seem to desire this long drawn out made for evening news publicity.

    Seems like a Van Jones plan, top down bottom up etc. What better way to get your party in power when there is anarchy?

      Anarchists and nihilists have used that plan much before there ever was a Van Jones. Some people thrive on chaos. Their leaders allow them to create chaos in order to take power and get the creators of chaos in line.

    Good grief. What a bunch of useful idiots, and the leadership on both sides waits to see which idiot side wins so they can lead the winning idiots down into more poverty….

    Some of the distance that those rocks are thrown are pretty impressive. I wonder if the Pittsburgh Pirates sent any scouts to Egypt looking for some possible pitching prospects

      The real questions are… What happens when the Muslim Brotherhood gets F16′s, Shoulder fired missles, tanks, and other advanced weapons that have been given to Eygpt??? What then and where do they go???

      One side or the other should stop throwing their rocks, wait til the other side runs out then go git ‘em some!
      I mean, why throw a rock? That only gives the other side more ammo!
      On a serious note, MSDNC just reported that allegedly, these “pro Mubarak’ folk are actually “paid thugs” by the Mubarak people.
      Don’t know if that is true, given the network, but it is worth noting.

      Hill Country Patriot? Would that be the Texas Hill Country? I spent alot of time down there in the early-mid 90′s, mostly in Luckenback, Comfort, Fredricksburg and Boerne. It truly is beautiful country.

      If all the protesters had guns there wouldn’t be any violence. Guns actually prevent violence.
