Posted on August 23, 2012 at 1:05amIs he – or anyone – a Christian? Jesus tells us that we “will know (not guess) by their fruits.” Just compare (or in Obama’s case, contrast) someone’s life with the lives of 1st or 2nd century Christians, who “turned the world upside down” [Acts 17:6] for Jesus, and many of them willingly laid down their lives for Him. Is our leader lovingly serving Jesus with his whole heart? Is he following Christ, or one of the false Christs that Jesus warned would come? Is he remotely like the original disciples or is he far more like the millions of professing Christians, to whom Jesus is merely a concept with a philosophy?

I think all union members should quit their jobs and start their own businesses. Then they could hire union labor and see what its like to work with union labor. I’m guessing they would sour on unions REAL fast. Their perspective would change when they become employers.
You see, union wages are paid by the company, through the revenue paid by “we the people” who buy the goods and services the union labor provides to the company. Increase the costs of doing business, increase the cost of goods sold. So. When unions get more, everyone else has less, because they had to pay more than they otherwise would have for said goods and services.
And I just heard that building a successful business is a piece of cake, due to all the roads and bridges we now have.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 3:56pmThe United Church of Christ (UCC), the Christian denomination of 1.2 million members, made famous by Barack Obama and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, provides a clear illustration of a non-Biblical “Christian” group. The first denomination to ordain an openly gay minister and to call for recognition of homosexual marriages (in 1976), and currently some 200 openly homosexual UCC clergy serve in its various ministries or pastorates. A strong advocate of abortion, openly endorsing abortion-on-demand a full two years before the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973; and even oppose the ban on partial-birth abortions. Favors Palestinians and terrorists, above Jews. Doesn’t celebrate the God of the Bible but instead uses gender-neutral images of God that can be either “he,” “she,” or whatever the individual wants Him to be. Believing that “God speaks in new ways every day” and that “doctrine and the intent of the Bible are affected by culture and context,” the UCC does not embrace fixed absolutes from the Scriptures (especially on moral issues) but rewrites the Bible to match whatever position they embrace at that time. Officially, somehow, considered Christian, is certainly not Biblical, but many ‘Christians’ today, reject traditional Biblical truths and standards.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 5:45pmRAMJR ,I spent 60 weeks in The United Church of Christ. What you say is true. They teach that everyone is God but Jesus,he was only a good teacher,a man. If I’am a man and also God, why not Jesus if he’s just a man? They teach all paths,(religions) lead to God. Obama said this in a 2004 interview with the Chigago Sun times. They made jokes about Billy Graham, because he preached salvation though Jesus Christ. This is what is know as a New Age Church. It’s paganism, same old game brand new game. Everyone does whats right in their own mind. It’s a cult of ONE. It also paralles nazism in its beliefs. Google and find out for yourself. Oprah spent 10 years in Wrights church before leaving it. She knew it would have been bad for her business if those white women, that watch her show, found out she belonged to a white hating church. Obama did not leave, he didn’t see this as a problem?

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 2:37pm@ENCINOM: In Matthew 20: 1-16, Christ tells a parable of a vineyard-owner (a “one-percenter”) who is the protagonist, while the whiny, complaining ninety-niners are the antagonists. Find it and read it. It tells of an employer who hires people to work in his field for a day’s wage, but as the day goes on, he finds that he needs more workers, so hires people up until only a few hours are left in the day. The employer then gives the agreed-upon wage to ALL the people who worked that day; however, some workers complain that they deserve MORE than the people who only worked for a short time. Here is what Christ said the employer replied:
“Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave you. Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?”
This is ideologically a very CAPITALIST idea. It all boils down to the money belonging to the property-owner, his payment to the workers is based upon what they are willing to work for, and if he pays the same to those who work for less time, that is HIS prerogative. This is not “fair” in today’s collectivist ideology, but “fairness” is irrelevant in the real world, which is where the Bible is based.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 1:42pm1Cor 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous;love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Matt 20:6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing around; and he said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day long?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’..9 When those hired about the eleventh hour came, each one received a denarius. 10 When those hired first came, they thought that they would receive more; but each of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they grumbled at the landowner, 12 saying, ‘These last men have worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the scorching heat of the day.’ 13 But he answered and said to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is yours and go, but I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. 15 ***Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with what is my own? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?’
Jesus assumed freedom over finances, even under Roman occupation- no unions and you could give, hire, reward as you see fit.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 1:47pmReally, that is complete BS. Jesus was not an economist and did not preach economic theories. More than likely the man who taught against greed would have little problem with unions that seek to protect its members from the excesses of the owners.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 1:52pmI‘m thinking that Jesus’ parables and actions had more to do with what kind of rewards are given to a person’s soul (moreover building your little [ rods] sticking out of the ground – Isaiah), than it had to do with literal finance.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 2:33pmWatersarpeople,
I agree whole heartedly that Jesus was using the parable to describe heavenly rewards. But parables are a means of describing things that are otherwise difficult to describe, by using the things around us. It was His obvious assumption that one could pay a worker whatever one would like to, as long as he or she honors all individual agreements. (Not very pro-union.) Elsewhere, we see that Jesus believes that one should have the full freedom to give as they deem necessary, to hand out food or water without a licence. He said to give unto Caesar what is his, never expecting Caesar to push the church or individuals out of the giving business.
Jesus clearly teaches not to dwell on perceived “unfairness”, but to be generous in our own lives. Paul, also, teaches us not to be jealous, or to expect retribution. For by the grace of God, we have been forgiven so much. Hatred and jealousy are not of His Spirit.
Political platforms which encourage legalised theft, feed lower man’s desires. Political platforms which encourage generous giving, freedom for others (not just those in power), and working to enable the advancement of others and opportunity for all are more in line with the teachings of Jesus. By His examples, we understand that He values freedom, forgiveness, generosity and thankfulness- rather than enslavement, greed, and division among people. Assuming freedom over one’s own assets, Jesus teaches generosity and love.

Probably would have an issue with someone who is stupid enough to believe that nonsense too. If you think that’s what unions do, I have a bridge to sell you.

The religion’s traditions and ceremonies stay the same, but the understanding over 100‘s and even 1000’s of years changes, and fades away – that’s why Heaven and earth fades away, but the “Word” remains. Believe me this, when Jesus returns he will be able to do all the miracles people believe he did. Maybe he‘ll be coming on a ’cyborg-unicorn’ like that Texas boy so delightfully drew it.

For Beckerheads facts and truth are two different things. “Facts” are things to be discovered and shaped to confirm pre-existing answers. The truth, if it does not forward the narrative is to be ignored or attacked. Why do you think so many Beckerheads still believe the racist, debunked Birther claims.

Report Post »Beckerheads may talk about the bible, but they do not preach the lesson taught during the sermon on the mount or follow the one that said “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” No, Beckerheads truly preach the gospel of greed taught by Ayn Rand. The gospel that allows them to walk over the poor and praise the wealthy.
