(Update: Ad Pulled) See Romney‘s Response Attack Ad Set to the Tune of Obama Singing ’Let‘s Stay Together’

The Obama campaign released on Saturday another ad attacking Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for his business record at Bain Capital.

However, unlike previous attack ads, this one goes one step further and takes a dig at the former Massachusetts governor for his off-key singing of “America the Beautiful”:

But seeing as how this isn’t the 2008 McCain campaign, Romney’s people have already punched back with an ad of their own, blasting the president for worrying more about his crony buddies than the American people.

The video is appropriately set to the audio of President Obama singing Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together”:

“Middle class families are struggling in the Obama economy. Instead of working to restore their economic security, President Obama is too busy rewarding his biggest donors,” the video’s YouTube page reads.

“The Obama record is one of political payoffs and middle class layoffs,” it adds.

As mentioned in the above, the Romney campaign isn’t taking the “America the Beautiful” ad lightly.

The president was “mocking” the patriotic song, said Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul.

But more than just a tit-for-tat counterattack to Team Obama’s “highbrow” “America the Beautiful” ad, the Romney campaign’s new “Obama Crony” ad is part of a larger strategy to take on the president’s handling of the economy.

“There is no question but that when billions upon billions of dollars are given by the Obama Administration to the businesses of campaign contributors, that is a real problem particularly at a time when the middle class is really suffering in this country,” Romney told Fox News on Monday morning.

“I think it stinks to high heaven,” he added.

Romney adviser Ed Gillepsie told reporters in a conference call that the president was practicing “Chicago-style politics and Chicago-style economics,” according to the Washington Post.

“[Gillepsie] said that reporting on Obama’s donors had been ‘kind of scattershot’ and the campaign goal was to ‘lay them all out and say this is a pattern,’” the report adds.

“Close to $4 billion in stimulus dollars did go to firms with connections to Obama staffers and advisers. Some were run by top Obama donors. The department says those connections played no role in funding decisions.”

And if you believe that, we have some land we’d like to sell you.

  Actually we probably had similar experiences when we were younger, but I don’t toot my horn to disparage others, but in this case I’d wipe you so far off the map re: accomplishments and personal wealth. But I would never display facts and figures on a public site to attack someone. Immature.
  
  What I was referring to was DURING school. The brain functions differently on pot, and critical thinking, and learning, is somewhat imparred. When I read others posts I look at the flow of their thoughts and appreciate the logic of their process. In your post all I saw was a giant leap to irrelevence and an attack on conservatives.
  
  I liken it those that swear when they can’t make a rebuttal. Lack of preparedness. Either that, or just making immature remarks as a troll.

  MICMAC..he will. Romney is outraising Obama. Obama has spent around $100 million on ads for battleground states like Ohio and Florida and it’s yielded next to nothing for him. Romney will be flush with money after the convention while Obama has launched his attacks on Bain, Romney and success and loses money and gains almost nothing. I‘m betting this is Romney’s game plan for now..let Obama keep shooting himself in the foot for hundreds of millions of dollars then saturate the battleground states in Romney ads while Obama goes begging Hollywood elites for money.
  If Obama, Axelrod and Plouffe aren’t beginning to panic…they will soon.

by doing a spin-off of Obama’s commercial, he’s playing into Obama’s hand, he’s letting Obama control the narrative, not to mention that Obama can croone better than Romney can sing. But then I heard that Satan has a golden voice, -anyway, who ever is the ad think tank for Romney needs to be entirely original and control their own narrative.
Breitbart said that the left was always so much better at capturing the media and I think that’s true but there’s no reason why this should be.
There are many clever, creative, conservative hep cats around. Romney needs some of them on his ad team.

What has this writer been smoking? This is a typical response ad, by definition one step behind the opposition. It is still allowing Obama to define the GOP candidate and set the whole tone. It‘s no different than McCain’s tactics and the end result will be the same in 2012 as it was in 2008 if they don’t get original and take the helm, putting Obama on the defense. When the Romney camp has to resort to a “me too” strategy of political advertising, you know Obama and Co. have to be giggling themselves silly.

That’s good, but he needs to hit harder and bigger. Romney can do it, there’s plenty of material he can use, and he needs to beat Obama about the head with these ads, and he needs to hit back hard!
