Watch Sarah Palin Make Her ‘Today’ Show Debut: ‘Failed Socialist Policies’

NEW YORK (The Blaze/AP) — During her debut on NBC’s “today” show, Sarah Palin didn’t sound too gung-ho about Mitt Romney as the GOP presidential candidate, but she insists that anyone is better than Barack Obama in the White House. And NBC‘s Matt Lauer didn’t mind making her feel welcome in his own special way.

Anybody “would be infinitely better than what we have today,” Palin said Tuesday during an interview during the show’s first hour before she co-hosted the second hour.

The 2008 vice presidential candidate was responding, sort of, to host Matt Lauer asking if she is happy with Romney as the presumptive Republican nominee.

When Lauer asked her why voters should put Obama out of office when recent signs suggest things are improving under his economic policies, Palin replied: “They aren’t getting better fast enough.”

She also made sure to repeat the mantra “failed socialist policies.” And Lauer made sure to remind her that as co-host she’s now part of the “lamestream media.” In fact, he even asked if the GOP nominee should pick a VP that has more experience than she had when she was “plucked from obscurity.”

We‘ll update the story with more video from Palin’s debut as it becomes available.

UPDATE:

Today has posted additional Palin clips. There’s a compilation, which features Palin having some fun at her own expense:

And there’s also video of her joining in on a discussion about parenting:

When asked how she thought it went, Palin responded, “Organized chaos.”

“I’ve always said if everything is under control, you’re going too slow, as Mario Andretti says too. It’s been a great morning.”

I respect Palin for her capitalistic sense. She couldn’t finish her term as governor, couldn’t get elected as VP, raised money for a presidential run this season and then quit and pocketed it, and now has joined NBC which nets her both more exposure and money. She’s made out like a bandit, and a lot of people lap it up. I wouldn’t want it in an elected official, but it‘s great as a pundit and I respect that she’ll be a very rich woman for the rest of her life.

      @Avengerk

I’m not sure that @Rangerp was doing anything of the sort. Palin had her talking points; as did Lauer (who, it should be pointed out, said it was Boehner saying the economy is doing better now). She’s a pundit now; I won’t be watching her, just like I don‘t watch O’Reilly, Beck, Olbermann, Matthews, or Maddow. Frankly, talking heads bore me as much as the after-game sports reviewers. People who don’t have to answer to anything but ratings… no thanks.

Again – I respect Palin for her success in the world of talking heads. She has a terrible track record as a politician – but talking about politicians? She can do that with the best of them and many people lap it up. She’s a great pundit, and I think she’ll enjoy a good career as such.

If you think she has had a failed career as a politician, you don’t follow politics. She went from the PTA to the governorship and then nearly the first female VP in U.S history in a very short time. She is now considered the matriarch of the modern conservative movement. She is a political king-maker and gets more media attention than Hillary Clinton. Everyone covets her endorsement. If that’s a failure, sign me up!

“She went from the PTA to the governorship and then nearly the first female VP in U.S history in a very short time.”

She left her governorship early and failed to become VP (arguably, she could be called one of the key reasons McCain failed to win in ‘08; revving up the conservative base was great, but alienating the middle was not). That’s about as successful in politics as a “Thanks for participating” ribbon is in a race.

She has had a lot of success (as I’ve said multiple times). Just not as a politician.

What lies? She left her office early; her stated reason were the ethics lawsuits although she also said in her speech that she wanted to pursue a “higher purpose.” She was investigated and found guilty in some, such as Troopergate (by the Alaska Legislative Council; then found non-guilty after by the Personnel Board). She couldn’t handle the legal trolling from running for national office. I condemn the frivolous lawsuits by the way; doesn’t change the fact that she left office instead of facing them down (and exaggerated how much Alaska had to pay by including the pay her legal team would have received anyway).

“So you’re accusing Palin of illegally keeping money raised from campaigns? ”

Illegally? Not at all; she never officially ran for office. If you tour the country in a bus, hitting all the states and making noise but never officially declare, it’s not illegal for people to send you money.

It’s perfectly legal to fake a presidential run as long as you never call it that. Again, I respect her ability to make money from the political process without actually being -in- politics. She’s done so since 2008, and amazingly well. That‘s why I said she’s perfect as a politician commentator (aka, a talking head); she can stay involved with politics, make money off it, and she doesn’t need to answer to voters… just ratings. It’s the perfect job for her.

I respect that she knows how to play the game and get as much cash from the Liberal lame stream media as she can. I would never vote for her as a politician because she is too interested in looking good in the public eye. A true patriot would be more like Ron Paul who no one gives the proper recognition. Even Beck follows the progressive agenda on that. He would rather vote for a progressive than for someone who will minimize our government. Romney and Santorum both are big government guys. Sorry but that is unacceptable to me. He doesn‘t have to worry tho his progressive will get elected anyways because the machine wouldn’t allow a real constitutionalists in office anyways…at least when I vote for Ron Paul I do so with a clear conscience.

When BHO takes his second term and he will folks, it will become ever more apparent to the lame stream media that this country is in serious economic straights. It will continue to get worse. QE3 is upon us and we are trying to print our way out of the crisis we’ve been in for many years and since 08. Our boom and bust economy, our sending jobs overseas, our subsidies for oil companies not to mention individuals, college system and housing is breaking this country. About a 1/4 of this country would be in the streets if it were not for the continued entitlement programs that have left them dependent and desperate. Pulling the plug will expose all who carry debts they should not have taken on and they will be cast into the lot with those on welfare. When this happens it will be the great equalization of Americans. The minorities who hate anyone doing better than them will revel in this revelation. The hate growing in this country courtesy of BHO WH is astounding to say the least. Of course he and his supporters are trying to drive this country into the poor house, its to make everyones house equal and the same. This is their socialist goal! Then we’ll have nothing to fight over…right?

Can you really not remember back a few months, when all the talking heads were going “Will she run? Will she not!?” while she toured the country refusing to announce and raking in donations?

Donations? Sure she can. Even better, her PACs can and can spend them however they choose. As for running for office, she most definitely was. It’s a dual ticket. Why do you think there’s such a fervor over who Romney will choose as a VP? McCain picked Palin and in the end it was a liability (as he himself admitted). Obviously she wasn’t the only issue with his campaign, but she was one of them.

I just thought to mention the reason she didn’t win as VP is McCain didn’t win, however the close race was due to her presence and common sense. The reason she left the Governors’ office was a simple economic fact, when the liberal progressives attacked her bringing lawsuit after lawsuit against her, she quit saving millions of tax payers dollars in court defense funds, on a bunch of bogus lawsuits, that’s courage!

Governor took over for her and completed what Sarah had started as best he could. Sarah Plain did not lose the race for VP, that John McCain did, even back then if the republican higher arc-key would of had Sarah as the front runner she may have been able to beat obama. Sarah Palin resigned because she recognized the cost that the frivolous ethics complaints were having on her state , and she saw how much of her staff’s time and her own time were forced to deal with those issues.

Upon her return to Alaska to resume her duties as Governor, Palin was plagued with one trumped up ethics charge after another which cost her staff dearly.
That entire campaign of BS lawsuits was meant to do nothing but hamstring the governor’s office and bankrupt Sarah Palin.

She saw that if she stayed on as Governor it would continue to cost the state millions of dollars in wasted time and resources to defend against false and maliciously ethics complaints and doom it to gridlock.
Those frivolous lawsuits had already cost the state of AK close to $2 million; Sarah Palin had over $500,000 dollars in legal fees.

Did you read the newly released Palin e-mails ?The emails shows how her political opponents were trying to destroy her and her family. They also wanted to destroy her Governing Alaska.
These e-mails show once and for all the fact, just as she stated, that these ethics complaints were driving her to personal bankruptcy, and wasting a ton of the states money a resources.

I believe Sarah did , is doing well on the show..she is down to earth, and did read some “newspapers”..they were far from professional in the beginning of the show..
Pick a VP that had more experience then Sarah did when she was plucked from obsurity????

The GOP establishment, the “lame-stream” media and obama all agree that they want Romney to be the nominee … What could go wrong? It is amazing that so many voters are willing to surrender this fight and accept Romney as the nominee. Would Republicans and conservatives vote for Romney over obama? Yes. Would Romney garner enthusiasm, passion or excitement as the nominee? No.

Sarah understands that Romney is better than obama, but, she also knows that he is just ‘good enough’. It remains to be seen if ‘good enough’ will be ‘good enough’. Clearly, one reason that team obama wants Romney to be GOP nominee (RomneyCare being another major reason) is that they know that obama has an enthusiastic base and Romney does not. In this election, enthusiasm may very well be the deciding factor.

this is exactly my point about the election in nov…Republicans best put their differences behind them and go forward as a group..and they are doing them selves a disservice if they do not get out and support and vote for the Republican candidate.
This election is going to be more about “color”..racism at every point.. republicans are wieners and don’t know how to fight back..and don’t want to learn..

And if you as POTUS announced you are approving the full pipeline to Canada, opening up Alaska and new gulf drilling permits the price of gas would drop overnight.

Even Palin can‘t save NBC fromm it’s dishonesty over the last, well, 50 years. It was staged so that Lauer could go off in his pussified way and she was ridiculed whether she realizes it or not. I have to agree that she shouldn’t have given NBC the credibility boost. They need to go under as they are headed for and we shouldn’t help them.

Conservatives want a person who will WORK, not someone who will create mob-mentality. I am as enthusiastic about Romney as I have EVER been about any candidate in my lifetime!

Reviewed in my mind all of the democrat/liberal/progressive ladies that are “paraded”.march to the same tune of their male comrades…march, march, march…mindless & shrill-sounding. In my opinion, as a woman, most “liberal-women” are restless & unhappy. It is painting with a broad-brush to say that, but it seems to have a constant pattern. Actually “their-like-minded-men” really don’t listen to their liberal women but “Johnny-on-the-spot” if their women get-out-of-line.
There is, in my opinion, a “big-problem“ for the ”OLD-GUARD-OF-THE-GOP” if these smart conservative women would have a show. Liberals keep “their-women” in line & on a choker-chain to keep them in line. The “old-guard-of-the-GOP“ respect ”their-women” but REALLY have a problem with conservative women who are VERY SUCCESSFUL. Young GOP embrace & approve “their-women” & their opinions. I myself was not ready for a VP or Pres./woman until S Palin & M Bachmann. My “old-guard-opinion” has changed because of these powerful ladies.

There were many voters who pulled that lever for Sarah Palin and that white haired guy. Obama was elected because he was a novelty, the first African-American president. McCain lost because he was the wrong person to be the nominee, just like Bob Dole. Republicans have this knack of pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. Romney will get a lot of votes because he is not Obama, not because he is the best candidate.

Also, Sarah still insists a brokered convention is ok and we would not have a nominee till 9/1?
