A flight from Newark, New Jersey, carrying 230 passengers was forced to make an emergency landing on its belly in Warsaw, Poland, because of problems with the Boeing 767′s landing gear. And while all the passengers were unharmed, the landing did produce some dramatic video.
Fox News Insider reports:
The pilot circled the airport for an hour because the landing gear did not come down. Remarkably, all 230 passengers survived the emergency landing.
The former FAA chief spokesman Scott Brenner watched the miraculous landing with Hemmer. Brenner described it, saying, “Its almost like a Polish Captain Sully who landed in the Hudson a while ago. We could not have asked for a more picture perfect landing.”
You can watch the dramatic footage below:
ITN News has the video along with audio, where the roar of the engines and some faint scraping can be heard:

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 3:04pmNotice flaps and no spoilers, to keep the weight off the contact structures, just let it float as long as possible! Masterful flying! These passengers got the service they paid for!!! Kudos to flight crew, cabin crew and ground crew–and passengers, for keeping it together! Oh, and, thank God!

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 1:35pmGod’s miracles come in many forms. This one came in the combination of a well engineered Boeing product and a very skilled flight crew. A lesser aircraft and a lesser crew could have resulted in 230 people killed. Wonder if anyone will come out of this a changed person for the better.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 1:33pmThe skill of the pilot is incredible here – at that slow speed, keeping the nose up is very difficult. But you want to do that to prevent losing control of the skid. He did an amazing job keeping the front half of the plane off the ground until the last second.

Report Post »Yeah, thank god for not being there for all those other plane crashes, for the children that were tortured and raped to death, and tsunamis that have claimed so many lives… Yup, god sure is on the ball. I’m so glad my daily life is so dependent on such an incompetent god that finally got off his rear and did something for this ONE PLANE. I mean if you’re gonna credit god for this one action, be sure to credit the Supreme Cupcake of the universe for his inaction’s as well.

Galatians 6:7-8
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction.
To lay the evil ,of this world,at the feet of the lord.
Are words of a fool.
God does answer prayer……
Somtime the answer is …yes.
Sometimes the answer is …. no.
This was a specific incedent,
not a catasstrophic event.
I am also not as vain to think,
I know why God ,allows shuch things to happen.?
Romans 11 : 33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom andi knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?
“Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?”
For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.
And soon like it or not.
YOU…. will bow and your tounge confess.
To the same..“ God ”.. you now mock,
that he is Lord.
Phillippians 2 : 9 -11
Report Post »Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Phantom II
Posted on November 1, 2011 at 12:25pmThe central hydraulic system failed.
The aircraft, registered as SP-LPC, was built in 1997 and delivered to LOT on lease from Aircastle on 15 May, 1997 according to Flightglobal’s Ascend database. It is powered by General Electric CF6-80C2 engines which require initiating shut down procedures prior to a gear up landing.
As of 1 September, the aircraft had flown 59,327h with 7,354 cycles.
Report Post »Pilot did a nice job landing. Note full flaps were not deployed. Gear up allows the wing to be closer to the ground which increases lift efficiency and less pitch. Touch down would occur at about 160mph.
KickinBack
Posted on November 1, 2011 at 12:36pmI’m not familiar with aircraft, but couldn’t they have installed a manual hand-crank for the gear in case of failure?
Report Post »Phantom II
Posted on November 1, 2011 at 5:27pmThe load would be to much for human power. They should have a blow down facility. The 767 has three redundant hydraulic systems for operation of control surfaces, landing gear, and other equipment. Each engine powers a separate hydraulic system, and the third system uses electric pumps. A ram air turbine is fitted to provide emergency power in the event of hydraulic failure. A fly-by-wire system is employed for spoiler operation, utilizing electric signaling instead of traditional control cables for weight savings. All the redundant systems use the central hydraulic sender unit which is almost fail proof. I suspect a forging failure in the valve body. I said before that the flaps were not deployed. I meant full flaps. Lets hope a 767 pilot will brief us on gear up landing procedures and systems analysis. This is an old plane near it’s service limit.

Sully is also glider pilot (USAir into the Hudson)
Youngest 767 of the fleet, 13 years old.
Wrona means crow in Polish.
Over the Polish internet a new saying is circulating:
“Lataj jak orzeł, ląduj jak Wrona”
“Fly like an eagle, land like a Crow

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 8:44pmHOWNOW63,
No unfortunately it won’t stop the subhuman intelligence jokes against Polish people since there will always be insecure Polish-haters out there that need a group of people they can put down so that they can feel better about themselves.
Also since the 1960‘s and 1970’s the Hollywood/TV network establishment has pumped out hundreds if not thousands of anti-Polish “jokes” and sound bites that were meant to condition the American public to see Polish people as having subhuman intelligence.
However anti-Polish jokes/slurs were on the decline from mainstream media when Polish Americans spoke out against them and against the anti-Polish media/Hollywood elements that pushed racist Polish jokes.
Its ironic the 1960′s-1970′s anti-Polish Leftist media/Hollywood establishment introduced Polish jokes into America since the “Polish joke origin” is Nazi German propaganda. The Nazis saw the Polish people as having suhhuman intelligence and ironically, so did parts of Hollywood and the Leftist media in the 1970s.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 12:17pmActually a group from my church was on a plane landing in Poland today. I don’t know if it was that one, but if it was I know who was responsible for the beautiful landing. We always joke that on Mary Ann’s tomb we are going to carve, “With God all things are possible!” There are a lot of amazing prayer warriors in that group. Like I said, I don’t know if it was their plane, but they left from Newark and were supposed to land today. Let me tell you my heart did a major clinch when I heard there was a crash landing. Praise God, no one even injured.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 12:11pmI know this is off topic so you don’t need to post, “What does this have to do with the article?” as if to marginalize what I’m saying. Because I know your malice.
It’s pathetic just how infatuated people are with the earth acreage of the world around them. Satan knows that the acreage of the Nation of Israel isn’t the land God gave Israel, and Satan also knows that if the Nation of Israel is destroyed that it doesn‘t mean God didn’t keep his promise. However, if the destruction of the Nation of Israel causes many men to believe God has broke his promise, then people will not believe in God anymore. I would think people would notice that direction of thought, even through science discovering small crustaceans in their drinking water, which caused many Jews to say, “What kind of a cruel God would tell us not to eat these things and then put them in our water whereby we do not know they are in the water?” That’s why Jesus said all things are food for you except the flesh thereof.
