    Obama just made a statement concerning 9/11 truthers.
    He said it was a plot by Israeli Intelligence to involve (use) America in a plan to secure Israel’s neighbors from attacking Israel.
    The FBI has arrested 5 Israelis and have turned them over to the Justice Department for questioning.

      Groundbreaking for the World Trade Center took place on August 5, 1966. The North Tower (1) was completed in December 1972 and the South Tower (2) was finished in July 1973.

      So, it took less than SEVEN years to build two 110 story buildings back then, but now it takes TEN years to get to ground level?!?

      GO UNIONS!

      @for-what-its-worth

      Unions were around in the 60s also so I don’t see your point.

      You should also remember that in these 7 years there weren’t just building to ground level, they were removing all the debris from the original buildings. And as everyone knows it’s a lot easier to make a mess than to clean it up.

      Kudos to the Unions!

      Unions are the life blood the working class. If you revert back to a time without labor unions you revert back to the 19th century. We want to move FORWARD not back.

      ~

      Then:
      In March 1965, the Port Authority began acquiring property at the WTC site. Demolition work began on March 21, 1966 to clear thirteen square blocks of low rise buildings in Radio Row for construction of the WTC. Groundbreaking for the construction of the WTC took place on August 5, 1966. Construction started August 1968 and was completed July 19, 1971.

      Now:
      On March 13, 2006, workers arrived at the WTC site to remove remaining debris and start surveying work. This marked the official start of construction of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

      So it took less than six years to buy and clear land, and construct two 110 story buildings, but it took five years to build two pools and plant a bunch of trees?

      I know unions were around when the original WTC’s were built, but something has definitely changed over time. Being a union member back then was about taking pride in your specialized skill/craft, and making an honest living for your family. Today’s unions seem to be focused on getting more “entitlements” for less work and supporting their leaders agendas for organizing against “the man”.

      When they’re done right right, they can be of great assistance in preventing the worker from being over worked and under paid. When they’re done wrong, you get what we see happening now. Massive protests that will only benefit the union leaders…NOT the workers.

      If you haven’t, it is used to “clean up” radioactivity, was dumped in the ocean off Fukushima and used at Chernobyl.
      And what does the dust data show, oh thats right a heavy spike in aluminasilicate.
      What is granite composed of? 72% Si2O2 15% Al2O3
      And what happens when they are exposed to fission temps? Oh, they form aluminasilicate ZEOLITE.

      Seem I am dealing w/ ignorants who don’t understand physics or basic chemistry. Care to debate?

      Radio transmissions are not credible in a court for good reason, there is no way to account from where they were transmitted. The FBI won’t even use them against KSM, as they are well aware of the fakery.

NOW, we can’t even call the building “Freedom Tower” out of concern that Freedom Tower would become too tempting a target for terrorism. @Alexeg and a few others….I have these same issues (building times, hoover dam, empire state, etc., etc.) AND, I have a good friend who is a union carpenter on the site…AND I have a husband who runs heavy equipment (not on that job)….I get their sides….I know it’s not ALL union. Most of it is politics and regulations (i.e. they didn’t have OSHA when the Empire State Building was built). I don’t like to stick up for the unions, especially those in the metropolitan area…HOWEVER, in looking at the video, I don’t believe it is up to date….I know that many floors have gone up, the building is growing, the glass windows are going in….so take heart, the video is not current. I agree, it’s a mess and has taken too long, BUT it is far more than just the Unions. And to those who have besmearched a worker, I know plenty of men who bust their @sses EVERY DAY …the ones I know are, however, company men and have been with the company many years. In order for the “company” to be considered when bidding for such a job, they are REQUIRED to hire union workers. Who makes those deals? Unions and politicians.

      No! We cannot have two replicas of the Twin Towers!!!
      Because then, 75 years from now, no one will remember the significance of 9/11. We will forget how all those lives were lost on that day, as well as all the lives we have lost fighting the War against Terrorism.
      All of our historical battlefields were frozen in time and left in way representing the actual battle scene so that we will not forget the significance of each battle of each war.
      The National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) and many other non-profit organizations work hard preserving and protecting America’s historical sites and battlefields from today’s modern developers and activities. They spend a lot of time, energy, and money ensuring that we do not lose or bury our American heritage. Decades from now, they will be fighting to protect and preserve this memorial.
      I feel the two fountains are appropriate for signifying the loss of the two towers and the human lives within. However, I am disappointed with the amount of time spent constructing so little. And, it had to be extremely costly, especially during the Great Recession, for the tax payers to keep a workforce and the equipment an additional five years for a project that could have been completed in only TWO YEARS!!!

      @PATRIOT
      Great idea! I would add a battery of rail guns on the roof, as well. Or maybe a gravity generator to sling any new attackers on a trajectory into the sun.

      @SPIRAL
      I would like to see more effort put into saving America, as opposed to preserving its history. If we are not here in 75 years, our history will be irrelevant.

      Honest, hard-working Americans have become organized labor’s worst nightmare. Ironically, they are the only ones that can ultimately save it.

      Also, let‘s not forget unions aren’t the only ones with corruption issues.

    I don’t know what the best memorial would be but my gut reaction is that there should be two new, higher twin towers in that space.

      Yep, one story higher would have done it. This thing is a waste of high priced real estate.

      They should rebuild the towers and go on with life. i know it’s hard, but it’s something you have to do. Everyone will remember where they were when it happened, and leaving “ground zero” looking like it did only lengthens the healing process.

    7 Years ? It took less than a 7 years for our country to build the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Hoover Dam, Combined. I know what you are going to say, Those Giant projects Pale in comparison to this wonderful and artsy hole in the ground.

    This is how You build a Memorial to the American Heros who died on this spot. BUILD TWIN TOWERS THE SAME SIZE AND SHAPE AS BEFORE IN THEIR PLACE, PUT THE MEMORIAL ON THE TOP FLOOR, AND HAVE A SIGN DARING THE CAMEL JOCKY , SHEET WEARING, NON DEODORANT USING, STINKY BASTARD’S TO KNOCK IT DOWN AGAIN. Its time for our country to grow a pair, and stand up in defiance of these BOZO’S.

      yes… a fraction of them believe that way. Just as a tiny fraction of Christians bomb abortion clinics, or a tiny fraction of Blaze members say anything enlightening in their comments.

      …I’m usually not so snide, but it’s really beginning to get embarrassing. I am a conservative, but I would NOT want to be associated by the vitriol and ignorance that I have seen spewed on this site.

      sad…

      We don’t build anything anymore, remember? Our great leaders believe their job is to put as many obstacles in the way as possible. We must necessarily bankrupt the energy industry. It is heating up the planet. We must stop using resources. It may be 4000 miles to the center of the earth and, while it is true that the deepest hole we have ever dug is only seven miles deep, we must acknowledge that our resources are running out. Growth is killing us. It must be stopped. People must stop consuming. We must understand that we can’t eat all that we want. Litigation. Regulation. Bureaucracy. Welcome to the new America.

      Exactly what I was thinking. It took a year to build the Empire Stae Building and 7 years for this? It shows what unions have done to productivity in the last 80 years.
