On the heels of yet another painfully dismal jobs report, Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour made an official campaign video for the president, inviting Obama supporters to a glamorous New York dinner with her, Sex and the City‘s Sarah Jessica Parker, and the first couple.
“Hi, I’m Anna Wintour,” she begins in her peculiar accent, “And I’m so lucky in my work that I’m able to meet some of the most incredible women in the world– women like Sarah Jessica Parker and Michelle Obama.”
She continues:
These two wonderful women and I are hosting a dinner, along with the president, in New York City to benefit the Obama campaign on June the 14th.
It will be a fantastic evening, and you can join us. We’re saving the two best seats in the house for you, but you have to enter to win. You can enter right now by going to barackobama.com/NewYorkNight.
Sarah Jessica and I both have our own reasons for supporting President Obama, and we want to hear yours. So please join us.

Perhaps the video would not have been as newsworthy in better economic times, but conservative blogs are commenting that, when coupled with the president’s obvious hypocrisy when it comes to private wealth– Republicans should be content with their “fair share,” but democrats can seemingly attend $35,000 events in style– the video somehow smacks of self-declared elites inviting “commoners” to dinner.

That Wintour pitch, coming in the middle of tough economic times, seems to have the same feel as Marie Antoinette offering a couple of peasants a chance to hang out with King Louis XVI and the aristocrats just as the Bastille was being stormed.
The most amazing thing about this Wintour video was it was actually released to the public by the Obama campaign itself.
But, they concede: “perhaps [the Obama campaign] wanted to supply us with more comedy material.”

By the way Sara is doing a film version remake of Mr. Ed. She‘ll be Mr Ed’s The Talkin Horse’s @ss. Shell be sporting a pony tail to the side of her face (Ed’s rear end). Anna Wintour, ‘the Devil wears Prada,’ plays the steaming road apples which apparently talk too, in Anna’s peculiar accent. I’m to understand the movie, in 3D, will feature an accompanying scratch and sniff play bill to accentuate the authenticity of the film.

One: Anna Wintour is an incredibly powerful “power player” in a world that accepts pricing upwards of $5K for a low end “high end” hand bag, hand bags that easily top $20K and much much more. Let’s say, in insanity world, that the materials cost and labor costs are in the range of $1K, (mind you from everything I have seen the artisans responsible for actualizing the design are kept on a very short financial leash, and subject to dismissal for any reason) the mark up has nothing to do with anything but exposing disposable income. And that’s OK, I don’t really have a problem with that–if you have that sort of disposable income and you want to show it, I am not one of those that says you should surrender it to the collective. I’d say there are probably better investments, but that’s me. I’d buy land. Two: It seems odd to me that the newest effort in the fashion community is to promote a “healthy” adult female model, but that Michelle and Vogue seem stuck on thinness, and Vogue in particular on lithe tween physiques. OK, it’s beautiful, but when all is said and done, it really is a physique that is more consistent with drag queen‘s adulthood than an adult woman’s. This prejudice is relatively new–it used to be that being a size 8, or even a 10 could be beautiful. Anna Wintour, as great as she is, doesn’t seem to get this.

Posted on June 2, 2012 at 6:57pmObama had to break records in spending to win against a pair of the weakest GOP candidates in history, and the best he could do was one of the smallest win margins in presidential history…only 3.1% of the vote would’ve changed the story…so know that Obama is a known quality and his VP candidate has proven himself to be dumber than anyone ever accused Palin of being, there is little chance for Obama to win again.
And the very fact that his base has to pull stunts like the one above show that they are worried.

I don’t know if this is going to be condescending or irrelevant………….. the electoral vote was 365 to 173 in 2008 That would be 68% to 32% somehow that seems like a lot more than 3.1%. Oh! but maybe you did not know that in the United States we elect our president by the Electoral College. Yepper, it’s all in that little thing called the Constitution. Posted on June 4, 2012 at 12:22pmI’m well aware of the function of the Electoral College, but it appears that you are the one misunderstanding it’s operation. You make it appear as though we sit back and let the Electoral count do the work, but you fail to realize that the popular vote influences the Electoral distribution.
So, only 3.1% of the popular vote would need to change their mind to swing the Electoral count the opposite direction…get it now? I was actually going to point out that it would be possible to change the Electoral count with LESS than a 3% shift, but I thought that might be a bit much for you, and I was right.
Try and argue that the popular vote was NOT one of the smallest in electoral history, post the challenge here, and make the argument that a small swing in the popular vote won’t mean the dismissal of the worst president in history.
Of course you can include your limited knowledge of the Electoral College in your presentation.
