What started out as a calm, organized and private fundraiser descended into a brief fit of chaos last night when Occupy Nashville members infiltrated the occasion with the intent to disrupt.
The event, which was put on by the Heritage Foundation and held at a local Hilton Hotel, included a keynote address from former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Knowing beforehand that the controversial former George W. Bush administration employee would be there, the protesters acquired tickets and plotted their occupation.
Once inside, they became confrontational, accusing Rumsfeld of war crimes in a showing that the Tennessean described as “a scene.” According to a release that was put out by the group, they yelled, “I call upon you to surrender yourself as a war criminal!” A press release on the Occupy Nashville web site reads:
Several minutes into Rumsfeld’s speech, an Occupy Nashville protester stood up and shouted that one of the primary architects of the Iraq war misled the American public and said, “Citizens are waiting outside to receive you and render you to the custody of the authorities.”
Rumsfeld was accused of authorizing torture, causing the deaths of more than 6,000 American servicemen and woman and lying about the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
An anonymous donor apparently paid for the four Occupiers to attend, as the cost per plate was $125. After the group stood up and interrupted the speech, security promptly escorted the members out. Outside of the building, 40 protesters were chanting, “Hey Donald, you can’t hide! We charge you with genocide!,” passing out fliers and waiting for their covert heroes to emerge.
Once they came out of the hotel, the protesters were greeted with cheers. Then, they passionately described the “sacrifices” they made by attending the event and they, of course, self-congratulated themselves.
Watch the Occupiers’ statements, below:
This, according to the members, was Nashville’s contribution to the national “Day of Action,” which commemorated the two-month anniversary of the Occupy movement.

Bravo to those at the dinner who discribed her and her ilk as socialists and communists because thats exactly what they are. They don‘t give a crap about of service members and this is just a front cause to get their voices heard and to try an bring more people to their sides because who does’nt support the troops. Just like in the 60s to fought against the War only because they could be drafted. They could care less about what happened to the people once we left because they are the same people who got us into Vietnam in the first place. The Left has more blood on their hands for the things they have done in this country and are the ones who need to be locked up for supporting genocide of the Cambodians and Vietnamese peoples who were slaughter wholesale after we were forced to pull out at their insistance. The Left is insidious at all turns.

There is a definite split between the left and the right; and it will turn into a mass conflict. i would rather be armed now and capable than allowing these louts to keep running rampant. We need to have our own military-esque police that does its job protecting the innocents in NYC who are victims of the Occupy protests by theft, assault, rape, murder, etc. this is a thug driven organization and should be treated as such… 1st amendment rights? yeah right. 1st amendment rights is peaceful demonstration (like the tea party) not forced hostile takeovers of city parks and other public areas. We need to stand up and actually stand for something. The time for using our words is past; and now its on to the real conflict before it is too late to fight back. If the occupy groups can attack police officers and destroy property, its about time some real time vigilantes get together and start busting some heads.

Before the surge I sat in on low level meetings about the Iraqi contribution to the Iraq war. They said the Iraqis control this small area. It looks insignificant, but over time it will grow. & it did! This was the “exit strategy” well before the surge. It didn’t have a date carved into stone to give aid & comfort to the enemy. But it did have an end state where the Iraqis were 100% in control.
The Iraqis held auction to see, who would pay the highest price for their oil.

Our military is falling apart at the seams , our soldiers can’t support their families any more and are looking for a way out . Posted on November 18, 2011 at 11:11amfriscokid1 All wrong, the group popping out kids they can’t afford are welfare moms. The government sets the poverty levels not the military. I was a military wife from 1970 to 1997. I assure you I was never living in poverty and never popping out kids. Of all the families I met during those 27 years, very few had money issues and most had two kids or none.
Generally, it was the single guys who had all this new found money and they would end up buying new $30,000 cars and boy toys then getting into hot water when the payments arrived. Of the families that did have three or more kids, some did get into financial issues only because they abused credit cards and also bought the latest toys and cars; not because they could not afford the kids.
You must remember that many military live in base housing; the cost is taken out of their paycheck. This is usually less than what the cost would be if they lived off base. When they move off base now they have electric and/or gas, water, sewer, rent or mortgage or other fees if they live in a covenant community, which is quite a bit more money than they are use to paying. They get themselves over extended in finances due to bad choices not too many children.
Until you know a subject, you may want to quite make wild accusations.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 11:23amI love your support of the US military but you are incorrect on your understanding of what a war machine is supposed to be. It is not the people in the US military as much as it is supposed to be private companies making money off of war. Personally, if it were not for private companies having the potential of profit for building war equipment then the USA would have lost all of it’s wars. So I am not only thankful for our US military people and their great sacrifice but I am also thankful for the war machine itself, providing the best technology on earth. So a military service member is suppose to be a martyr & not have 2 or 3 kids? The are suppose to be celibate & sacrifice themselves for society? That is moronic.
Pay raises of 1.4% or in that neighborhood are just keeping up with inflation, gas & food.
Pay raises come out of the Military personnel portion of the budget. That is less than 23% of the total defense budget. Just because it is growing does not mean the the overall budget is growing.
the defense department accounts for 20% of Federal outlays. It used to be higher. By saying it use to be higher I am not saying that it should be. I would look at the Quadrennial Defense review to figure out how how high it should be.
I would also point out that we are at war whether you realize it or not. It is a world wide warm that will decide if we live in a a liberal society or not. I take it that you are going Amish on us & reaping the benefits of the safety the defense department provides while not pitching in but instead going continually out of your way to tear it down.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 3:48pmOK first, the “war machine” they are talking about refers to the “Military-Industrial Complex” which Eisenhower warned us about in his last speech. Also, Defense budget and spending has GROWN every year for the past 3 years, NOT cut, nor will it be, no matter what happens with the sham of a “super committee”.
Report Post »My brother called a few minutes after I read these comments-so I got his take, (Considering he recently retired after 35 years as a Navy officer, has always lived on bases, and was over hundreds of men under his command over those years-he also has 5 children, but 3 were born while he was still enlisted. ) He told me now, (and in past conversations), that one of the biggest expenses & reasons for the drastic increases since 2001, are the Defense Contractors. They’re also one of his biggest pet peeves. He stated that many of his men who were discharged for drugs, abuse, or other nefarious reasons, were immediately employed by KBR, XE, (formerly blackwater), or smaller firms. They’ve caused huge problems in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and seem to go through DoD money like M &M’s. Apparently, “Rummy” had insisted on a huge payment to Blackwater, which “disappeared”, (it was supposed to be accounted for, never was). This was “BILLIONS” that COULD have gone to much needed things in our actual military. “Rummy” isn’t exactly well-liked by the Officers who worked back then BECAUSE of his constant mismanagement.

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 6:18pmDefense spending as % Outlays FY 1950–2007 Show that the defense budget isn’t really gaining as a percentage of the federal budget.
Some people count FBI counter-terrorism, Homeland Security, VA, & Veterans pensions as part of the defense budget. Do you want to cut those?
China hides its’ defense budget. China is a problem. Proof? Well if we station 2,500 Mariens in Australia & it bugs them, then they are up to no good. It is hard to be a hegemon when someone stands up to you. Also china doesn’t have to spend as much on R &D. they stile the W88 nuke secrets during the Clinton era. Plus Bernie Shwartz (may he live in shame) of Loral space & Clinton gave the Chinese missile guidance tech. On top0 of that GE gave china jet engine technology. So no China doesn’t have to pay full freight on R & D. Politicians, CEOs & fair minded people (spies & leftists) give it to them.
Did you forget about the GE jet tech transfer, the W88 scandal of the 90s & Loral Space missile tech transfer?
So if the defense budget increase because we are at war with dozens if not scores of Jihadi groups & have a potential enemy in China & others, what is the next move. Slash defense? Keep it the same & ignore inflation?
Jihadi groups are Abu Sayaf. they came to us we didn’t go to them. The ones in Algeria, Somalia & many others. Al Qaeda isn’t the end all be all of terrorist groups. Nor are they the oldest. The Algerian jihadis are far older.

Now…leftist ‘occupy’ protesters come along. They are dirty, slimey, drug-filled, hate-filled, rapist. They are communist inspired. They are filthy and profane. They make racist statements. Posted on November 18, 2011 at 10:26amPlease learn your history. Plans for, and attacks on Iraq meant to provoke war with the excuse of “WMD” began in the Clinton administration. I reference you to Clinton’s massive missile/bombing attack on Baghdad of December, 1998. Also, read Gen. Hugh Shelton’s book (Chairman JCS appointed by Clinton) where he details his first “unofficial Cabinet breakfast at the White House in 1997 (Clinton). He was asked about the viability of sending a U2 “low and slow” over Baghdad to have it shot down in order to provoke war. Why do you think Hillary was behind and endorsed the Iraq war resolution?
The “WMD” characterization was already set up by the Clinton administration. Compare the speech Clinton gave after is 1998 attack with Bush’s WMD speech. Match up the paragraphs and the verbiage throughout. What you’ll find is that the Iraq war had its origins during the Clinton administration, in 1995 in fact. There was a reason. Perhaps you should consider the fact that there are things that go on in government that can’t be told because they would “telegraph” intentions to the “other side”. This was one of those things. A BIG one.
Obama is also involved in a continuation of this same situation; and what you don’t know about that should be of considerably more concern that anything you “think” you know about what Bush did or did not do, or Clinton did or did not do. But for the same reasons, can’t be told.

Perhaps you missed a few things from 20 odd years ago. i was following desert shield and storm as it happened and i followed the inspection routine through the 90′s
You seem to forget that there was on ongoing state of war with Iraq when we invaded in 03‘ the ceasefire signed at the end of desert storm didn’t end the war and we were constantly shooting at each other in a low intensity way. then there is that whole 9/11 thing. that you seem to forget how it changed the game. we went after terrorist organisations and those governments who supported them like iraq who we were already at war with. the idiocy in your statemnet is best described by what clinton said when he authorised operation desert fox in 98′

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 10:48am“war where they intentionally killed several hundred thousand innocent men, women, and children…” Umm, can you prove that? You know, the muslim radicals that pump up the naive youth to radicalize them say it was actually 1 Million. It’s easy to prove them wrong when you look at the census numbers of Iraq. There are actually several hundred thousand MORE people in Iraq ten years after the war had started than the population growth percentage of .02% attributed from 2001 thru 2011. As I say to those LIARS: “Did Iraq become some place to retire now, because your propagated numbers just don’t add up!”
Islamists are wrong about the “1,000,000″ dead and you’re wrong about the “hundreds of thousands dead.” You provocateurs need to make up your minds. Especially, when you try to add in the “innocent women and children” part. Do you even know the precise capabilities of our military? The collateral damage is kept to a minimum.
Islamists and leftist dhimmis are nothing but LIARS! You all forget that their is empirical evidence that can prove your LIES! “hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children” is a LEFTIST LIE! Look up the census stats yourself, do the math of rate growth per year times 10 (calculating from 2001 to 2011) and see how IGNORANT you look!

As many or more people are dying in Syria as in Iran. So Obama’s stated guide as to why he would intervene R2P (responsibility to protect) is crap. He intervened because France (Sarkozy) & Italy want to ensure their oil supplies from Libya. That & Obama wants to tiptoe around the regional trouble maker of Iran.
Why are we in Uganda? Soros has oil interests in Uganda now. When there were no oil interests in a neighboring nation (Rwanda), Clinton did not intervene in the Rwanda genocide. He did cry crocodile tears & rub his hands about the loss of life & that the U.S. should have intervened. It would have been easy to. We could have stopped it. But who was president? CLINTON.

Pretty pathetic on your part. It is called self deprecating humor. After being beaten all day long by the Lame stream press & Democrats that he still can laugh is amazing. The weapons are in Syria.
To believe you & would have to disbelieve my fellow soldiers who took surveys & found traces of WMDs chemicals in the environment. I believe them & not you. I will also believe the newscasts I watched on the nightly news in the late 90s of the Iraqis breaking the armistice by interfering with U.N. arms inspections (that itself is casus belli). The Iraqis regime invaded Kuwait & started a war. They lost it & singed an armistice. They violated the armistice repeatedly. That is a cause for war.
Plus the WMDs are in Syria. How much did Saddam Hussein pay Tted Kennedy to stop or slow down the Iraqi war Resolution so Saddam had time to ship WMDs, bury WMDS & prepare for guerilla warfare? Or did dear old drunken, womanizing ,sexual harassing TED do it merely, cuz he is a dumb a$$?

And after we took out the government that they WERE ALREADY REBELLING AGAINST, they didn‘t start making ied’s, and blowing up themselves and our troops. And, of course, the public would also love to
