We Dare You Not to Cry: Boy With Palsy Greets His Soldier Father by Walking to Him for the First Time

If you could see me write this story, you would find me with tears in my eyes — and that’s after reading the video description one more time. Watching the video is even tougher.
That‘s because you’re about to watch a 6-year-old with palsy walk to his dad — a returning U.S. soldier — for the first time. I‘ll let the boy’s mother explain (via the Welcome Home blog):
When my husband left on his deployment, our 6-year-old son could not walk on his own. He has cerebral palsy. Doctors originally said that he would never walk or do much of anything. While daddy was away, he learned to walk. For his homecoming, we set it up for Michael to walk to his daddy for the first time ever! We kept the fact that he could walk a secret the whole time his dad was gone!
When Fox’s Gretchen Carlson saw the video this morning, she broke down and couldn’t even finish the segment. You‘ll see why that’s not an overreaction in a second:
It’s an incredibly happy story that makes stories like this one even more poignant.

Why in the world would anyone say that boy has no value?!
Report Post »I still can’t believe people want to kill kids like that before they even give them a shot at a good life or find out how much they enrich the lives of the people around them!
May God RICHLY bless that family!
I have worked with the handicapped my entire life (from kindergarten on… I am 32 now). I have seen the depth of love those people have to give. They amaze me! I have never heard them ask.. “why me?” They only give and love. Their value may not be in what they can produce with their hands. No. Their value is in what they produce IN US!

Posted on May 10, 2012 at 10:42amIn fact GONZO here‘s where Obama’s former health care rationing czar Don Berwick, agrees with you…
“The social budget is limited — we have a limited resource pool. It makes terribly good sense to at least know the price of an added benefit, and at some point we might say nationally, regionally, or locally that we wish we could afford it, but we can’t.” I love that one..“the social budget”.
Here’s my favourite…”society makes decisions about rationing all the time,“ and that the ”decision is not whether or not we will ration care — the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open. And right now, we are doing it blindly.”
So yes GONZO..in the lefties ideal world…this little boy would have been aborted and never been able to walk to his father. He just would have been too much of a burden on “the social budget”.

I’m all for that and wouldn’t that be nice? However, look where we are at and who is leading. It all happened because we took our eye off the ball.
We trusted our elected to do what they are paid to do without micro-managing the shop. And now we can’t fire them.
I drool for the time that we can just leave it at that and enjoy the story. BUT, if Obama gets his way, we may never see the little ‘Mikies’ of the future. They stories will be much different. Much sadder.

Report Post »We don’t have to wait, just look at our own history.
Last spring a Michigan court rejected, because the statute of limitations had expired, the suit of a man who had been sterilized at the age of 18, ostensibly on the grounds of feeble-mindedness. But the case cast light on a largely forgotten chapter of America’s past: the compulsory sterilization of tens of thousands of people for “eugenic” reasons. America’s eugenics laws served as a model for the racial laws passed by the Nazis in Germany.
Fred Aslin was 10 years old in 1936, when he was confined to the Lapeer State School, a closed psychiatric facility in the state of Michigan. His eight siblings were confined there as well. His father had died shortly before, and his mother was unable to care for the children on her own. Aslin, a former farmer in Indiana, had never understood exactly why he and his siblings were thrown into a psychiatric clinic, since neither he nor they were in any way mentally handicapped. “But we were poor, and we were Indians,” he notes. At the age of 18, he was sterilized against his will, as were four of his siblings.

Posted on May 10, 2012 at 4:43pmGonzo, you are absolutely correct. In fact if you really watch what Obamanation is doing right before our very eyes, it may come sooner than anyone thinks. The Great Divider has opened our top secret information to our enemies by appointing members of the Muslim Brotherhood to key positions in the Dept of Homeland Security and the Dept of Defense. Just research them and you can find all kind of info on their secretive evil tactics. The DoD has been purchasing millions of rounds of hollow point ammo – 450 million up till now. What is their reason for this massive purchase? People had better be prepared as the election gets closer. Obama fears that he will lose and his agenda of turning our countr into a Socialist State will not go “FORWARD”. His actions indicate that he possibly has a Plan B ready. By the way, “FORWARD” was Hitler’s motto for making “fundamental” changes in Germany. The German people fell for it back then. Will the American people fall for it now?
And as for Mikey – God Bless his loving and giving heart. He and his Mom had to work very hard so he could surprise his Dad. And a great big hand for his Mom for seeing his possibilies rather than his limitations.
God Bless This Whole family.

Posted on May 10, 2012 at 5:29pmGONZO and all the rest of you. You are completely wrong and uninformed. As this man is a soldier, hopefully the government is helping with this child.
Many Americans are uninsured. Do you think insurance companies are going to take somebody with palsy onto their registers if their parents are not already insured?? Only the government will insure such people.
Unfortunately, there is no insurance plan that can help you to grow a brain.

America is parishing under the new ever expanding immoral society that is not only accepted but embraced and celebrated by the populist, main stream media, and the democratic party.

What I loved was the father’s waiting for his son, allowing the child to do all he could before the father took that long step out to wrap his son in his arms and lift him up. Someday, JESUS will do that for each of us, too.
I‘m sure you all noticed as I did the father’s sweetness with each of his children. How safe we are with men /fathers and women / mothers as GOD ordained the family unit.
Wonderful video, no matter how many times I watch it. Thank YOU GOD, and thank you Blaze.
