We Handle it Internally: Another Possible Sexual Assault at Occupy Wall Street

The Occupy Wall Street encampment in New York City's Zuccotti Park.

There’s been another alleged sexual assault at an Occupy encampment, this time at Occupy Wall Street in Zuccotti Park.

According to the New York Post, the suspect entered a woman’s tent around 6 a.m. Saturday and sexually assaulted her. Protesters chased him out of the park, yelling “Pervert! Pervert! Get the f–k out!”

The police were not called, the paper reported.

“They were shining flashlights in his face and yelling at him to leave,” a woman who called herself Leslie told the Post, but refused to give her real name.

She said another woman was raped weeks earlier.

“We don’t tell anyone,” she said. “We handle it internally. I said too much already.”

The report is the latest allegation of sexual assault to come out of the Occupy movement. Earlier this month, police were investigating after a 19-year-old woman attending an Occupy Cleveland rally said she was raped in her tent. Days later, police were investigating the possible sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl at Occupy Dallas.

Occupy Baltimore recently revised its sexual assault reporting guidelines after distributing pamphlets that discouraged victims from coming forward to the police. The pamphlets instructed victims of assault to report incidents to the “Security Team” which would “supply the abuser with counseling resources.”

      That is the truth and I’m sure that it will be very beneficial to them. As soon as their “internal team” gets through counseling them on how to sneak in, rape the woman or child and then sneak back away without raising a ruckus (I‘m just afraid that they are going to start counseling them on how to murder the victim quietly so that there won’t be a ruckus raised), they will then feel like they were very well counseled.

      These people are living in a dream World. What they need is a good dose of reality. I never wish harm to anyone but I would not laugh or cry if some nasty street gangs came through these protests and just took every camera, iphone, laptop and wallet by force. This is the type of behavior they are promoting by letting rapist roam free to rape. Let the pillagers come through next. One Dark Age coming up with a side of humility.

      How many rapes/sexual assaults occurred at the TEA Party rallies? How many arrests were made? If there are any Progressives with any comparisons by numbers, I would like to know. Seems to be a stark contrast between the Progressive mentality of “give me what I want NOW!” and the TEA Party ideology of self-reliance. Perhaps the rapes/sexual assaults, the heroin, and poor hygiene are just a few of the differences between the pro-Marxist/Anarchist mob and the pro-Capitalist crowd.

    I HOPE she’s concerned that this news is going to spread among the sexual predator community (they have a community?) online and OWS are going to get a lot more of this. Imagine, a place a rapist can go, get a little, and all the “authorities” do is yell at him and shine lights in his face, telling him to leave.
    He’ll go home, have a meal, get some sleep, and come back to scout the next night’s tent.

      I rather wonder how many of them are there for that very reason, or something along the same lines. It‘s common knowledge that many guys go to radical events because it’s easy to pick up women there, who are very friendly to those “in the cause”. Want to get some action? Go to an Occupy event. These places are jungles, the favorite environment for predators.

    I wonder if Obama, Biden and Pelosi will continue their support of the OWS ‘movement’ amid these continuing reports of sexual assaults. Perhaps Biden will blame Republicans for not supporting the Jobs Bill. After all, if there had been a policeman in every tent at Zuccotti Park this assault would have been avoided.       My thought as well! First they came to rape women and nobody said anything. Who will they look the other way for next?

      The police should be investigating the people who are handling “rapes and sexual assaults” internally. Sounds like a very scary road for these folks to travel down. I feel for the women who are being victimized. Perhaps they are being bullied into remaining silent, which is more than sad.

      I can certainly see how the press is making a comparison between OWP and the Tea Party….oh wait,
      I don’t remember any rapes, sexual assaults, arrests, paint guns, tents, rubber bullets, swearing, tear gas, pepper spray, but I do remember reports of a lone “racists” sign which makes the two groups completely similar!
