‘We Will Strive to Ensure a New World Order’: Vladimir Putin Outlines Plans for the EU

Here’s what many will not find the “feel good” story of the day:

In an article published just before Russia’s upcoming election, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin calls on eurozone leaders to consider the idea of creating what he calls a “Union of Europe.”

“That’s right,” writes Business Insider’s Adam Taylor, “a Union of Europe, not a European Union — a free trade zone (and perhaps more) stretching from ‘Lisbon to Vladivostok.’”

As Taylor notes, there’s a certain element of “schadenfreude” in Putin’s article, especially when he writes:

Russia is actively participating in the international effort to support the ailing European economies, and is consistently working with its partners to formulate collective decisions under the auspices of the IMF. Russia is not opposed in principle to direct financial assistance in some cases.

The Russian PM, “with a tone of a distant if kindly uncle,” as the New York Times put it, outlines his plans for both Russia and the EU [emphasis added]:

Russia is part of the greater world whether we are talking about the economy, the spread of information or the development of culture. We do not wish to and cannot isolate ourselves…

However, we intend to be consistent in proceeding from our own interests and goals rather than decisions dictated by someone else. Russia is only respected and has its interests considered when the country is strong and stands firmly on its own feet. Russia has generally enjoyed the privilege of conducting an independent foreign policy…I am convinced that global security can only be achieved through cooperation with Russia rather than by attempts to push it into the background, weaken its geopolitical position or compromise its defenses.
…
I do not doubt that we will continue on our constructive course to enhance global security, renounce confrontation, and counter challenges like the proliferation of nuclear weapons, regional conflict and crises…We will do everything we can to see that Russia enjoys the latest achievements in scientific and technical progress and to assist our entrepreneurs in occupying their rightful place in the world market.

We will strive to ensure a new world order, one that meets current geopolitical realities, and one that develops smoothly and without unnecessary upheaval.

Wait, what? We’re now striving for a “new world order”? That’s… well… that’s disconcerting.

His article continues:

…Russia proposes moving toward the creation of a common economic and human space from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean – a community referred by Russian experts to as “the Union of Europe,” which will strengthen Russia’s potential and position in its economic pivot toward the “new Asia.”
…
The crisis that has struck the eurozone cannot but affect Russia’s interests, especially if one considers that the EU is our major foreign economic and trade partner. Likewise, it is clear that the prospects of the entire global economic structure depend heavily on the state of affairs in Europe…We have a stake in ensuring a strong EU…It is in our interests to realize the enormous potential of the Russia-EU partnership.
…
I propose again that we work toward creating a harmonious community of economies from Lisbon to Vladivostok, which will, in the future, evolve into a free trade zone and even more advanced forms of economic integration.

He goes on to explain that “free trade zones” can be realized if, among other things, eurozone leaders consider easing visa rules and agree to more cooperation in certain industries (specifically gas).

    If you fail to see that Communism, Socialism, Fascism are mere forms of the same dictatorship, you will never understand the nature of the continuous struggle. There is no right or left difference in these offshoots of the same despotism. Their claim that the STATE is supreme, can only lead to tyranny. Their goal absolutism! And their method of rule is always based upon coercion, command and control.

    Today our country is a hollow shell of the Founding Father’s vision. What exists today is a tyranny unimaginable when our once proud nation was created. The New World Order is the antithesis of a republic. Divinely endowed natural rights for all citizens are now defined as arbitrary and subordinate to a contrived specter of an imaginary world community – governed by the few – so the many can serve, those who set the rules. The system, is the NWO. We, the people, are viewed as puppets to be managed or marginalized, at the whims of a master class. Their rules apply for us, but they are exempt from them and are accountable only to their own cabal.

      @ socialism.rocks You mean international bankers use their capital to fund revolutions and change the balance of power around the world. Yes they were New York bankers who funded the Bolshevik revolution, yes it was the NY bankers who funded all of WWI (both allies & axis powers), the third Reich during WWII, and the US’s modern day crusade against the middle east now.

      But don’t make the mistake of equating financial support to being behind any cause or nation. They are in the business of creating debt for all nations, mostly through war debt and entitlement spending.

      Because what inevitably happens when a nation has maxed out its credit and can’t make the debt payments, it must sign over its sovereignty (i.e. Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain, America), and agree to be part of the new financial order, or risk total collapse. The US is being primed for this right now. Believe on this, no matter what political ideology you hold, capitalism, liberalism, socialism, communism, etc., unless your an insider, you won’t come out on top when this is all said an done. .

      No question – I pray everyday thanking God that I stand on Earth during these Biblical times. I believe the times that we are in today come in a close second to those that lived in the times that witness the crucifixion of Christ.

      I am not the wisest among us, but I am smart enough to discern a false profit from a true profit. I will not support or vote for any candidate that doesn’t put God first in his/her life.     Russia is an odd country. Being White, you‘d think they’d be able to easily integrate with Europe after the collapse of the Soviet Union. But they haven’t because they have this hostile, paranoid and alien Asiatic culture.

    It’s a real tragedy because Russia has such a depressing history. They feel close and familiar yet distant and alien at the same time. They’re on the cusp of Westernization but for some reason instinctually reject it.

    There was so much hope that Russia would realize the error of their Soviet ways, admit their failings and join the modern Western world. And while they have grown economically, they’ve at the same time recoiled from the West and are going back to their old Soviet ways.

    They seem to be more interested in cozying up to the East Asians than they do their fellow Whites in Europe.

    I can’t help but think that we made a mistake by not trying to reach out to them more. Maybe if we would have made a larger effort to bring them into the Western fold rather than treat them like a suspicious dying enemy we could have prevented their Soviet relapse.

    Who knows…

      My Great Grandfather was in the Russian army and left there around 100 years ago and settles in Canada. He had a bad feeling about it then, and four generations later I’m feeling that too. Keep a watchful eye on that one.

      Well I’m very curious and fascinated about the topic myself. In my study of WW2 history on the Eastern Front I found it very interesting that the Ukrainians and many “White” Russians wanted to join Hitler in attacking and overthrowing the Marxist gov’t in Moscow but Hitler refused because he felt that the Slavic people were inferior to the Germans.. From my perspective I can’t hardly tell the difference between a Slav and a German and I don’t really understand what the issue was back then although I think I know a little about what the Nationalists were concerned about but by refusing their help it became almost impossible to win on the Eastern front.

      Furthermore you really can’t even have a conversation about Russia without addressing the Jewish question. Once again as Sir Winston Churchill stated “The Bolshevik movement was primarily a movement of atheistic Jews… “ and they pretty much controlled Russia from 1917-1953. People want to scream and shout when you mention the Jew but they played such a major role in the Marxist movement in that country in the early 20th century and now it appears that they are not so welcomed in Russia. Living in America, we can’t comprehend a Nation without Jewish rule.. Imagine America without Jewish rule? You can’t but I think that’s what you have in Russia today.

      Anyway it is an extremely fascinating topic. I think I understand it but it’s probably too taboo to talk about on the Blaze.

      Russia is the Appalachia of Eurasia. Most of the country is a rust belt, and life outside the biggest cities is medieval. It’s people have always been barbarians, and they always will be. The best way to deal with them is to avoid them and to stay strong in case they start to crawl out of their box.

      There’s certainly corruption and an element of lawlessness; however, I’ve seen on several occassions where Putin was recommending the teaching and instruction of Christianity in their public schools. They are inviting it and advocating it. Recall also in the last few decades they have sought out missionairies. Look they have a bad record. No question but now they seem to be trying to set up a free market system and they are promoting their interests. I support that.

      That is a far far cry from what is currently going on in America today.

      Well I’m often called a hater on this site but I believe that those are pretty strong words; however, that pretty much lines up with the way the Nationalist in Germany thought about them too as I wrote above. I don‘t know many Slavic people however I’d have to see a lot of evidence before I could make that claim.

      Anyway it is an interesting topic.

    It sounds to me like a plan to do what the Soviet Union kept doing to the west in the past. However, back then, under threat of attack, the west would give the Soviet Union technology and money to help them survive. At the moment, they can’t threaten with their armies and nukes. So Putin is trying to get a deal where Europe would be bound to helping them out financially like Greece, and also give them technology which they cannot develop now that they have moved back towards communism.

      I don’t understand that at all.

      I mean Russian does’t have the illegal drug problem, gang, white collar, thuggery, nor homocide issues that we have in the US. I just don’t know what in the world you are referring to. They have not invaded near the number of countries that we have the past two decades.. What gives?

      They are the number one purveyors of internet scams, hacking, drug trafficking, money laundering, prostitution, child pornography, arms trafficking, shall I go on? The KGB became the Russian mob and I am sure that Putin has his fingers in some, if not all, of it.
