Website‘s 75 ’Morning Faces’ Showing What People Really Look Like When They Wake Up

Would you have the courage to go au naturel with your morning face for all the Internet world to see? We’re talking no make up, no photoshop, perhaps even pre-morning cup of coffee and — if you’re really brave — pre-mouthwash.

XO Jane, a lifestyle website for women, collected images of 75 morning faces from women and a few men showing both the chipper and the cranky.,

The participants were asked to provide information about what they did the night before — it could be telling of their morning condition — and how long it usually takes to make themselves presentable each morning.

Here are a few of the shots:

Shirley from the San Francisco Bay area went to see a taping of The Nerdist Podcast the night before and didn't get home till after 1 a.m. It usually takes her anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes to get ready each day.

Marisa from New York cooked dinner with her husband and watched a television show. She says it takes her exactly 16 minutes to get ready.

Julie, mother of two, went to dinner with friends and then fell asleep watching SNL. She can get ready in as little as 15 minutes in the morning.

Carly admits that she had quite a bit of wine the night before. It usually takes her a half hour to get ready for work.

David from London had a relaxing evening that included reading Virginia Wolfe. It takes him 30-45 minutes to get ready each day.

Kari states she loves this project because she hates it when in the movies the "girl wakes up looking like she's in a photo shoot." It takes Kari about 40 minutes to get ready in the morning.

Dusty from Texas looks fresh faced because she gave herself a peel-off mask the night before. She prefers to take an hour to get ready in the morning but can doit in 45 minutes.

Julia from Atlanta actually took her shot after an afternoon nap -- after a very long day.

Sinnae from Austin, Texas, went to bed early -- without showering -- after a long day working as a glassblower. It takes Sinnae 45 minutes to get ready.

The Daily Mail reports that the photographs are part of the “Show Us Your Morning Faces” project led by Jane Pratt, who was the former editor of Jane magazine, to get a look at what really is the “natural look”, a phrase commonly mistaken for wearing effortless looking makeup and therefore still looking flawless.

      I couldn’t agree with you more! I am seriously considering eliminating the website from my “go to” options for the latest news. I honestly thought The Blaze would be a cut above all the rest but am very disappointed!

      Go! I think a break from all things political is good once in a while. You always have the option to skip the story but if it bothers you that much, go to MSNBC. I’m sure the high intellect there may suit you.

      Go to huffington post ,if you want entertainment.You will be slandered ,blocked ,your post will be deleted ,while getting a nasty reply from the deleter,that you won’t be able to reply to.Most of their storys are about conserve,all negative .plus you will be able to get all the latest on celebs ,up to and including hourly reports on whats bothering the Kardashian sisters.Go ahead try it ,you won’t like it but try it any ways .We will see you back here in a couple of days.

    And then the OTHER 15 minutes are behind the wheel of a vehicle,with the mirror/visor down,putting on makeup and ******* the people off behind her at risk of traffic injury accidents.

    With all the bar hoping I did in the service, the gals I picked up looked pretty good late at night;the following morning well let me put it this way……..I would have rather run home and kissed my dog…..oh, I forgot, same difference…..

    The ladies should get a lot of respect. They have to perform miracles in the morning, to get out the door looking presentable. Guys hardly ever look like crap in the morning. Most guys have it made.

      Thank you! Nice to know there’s one or two civilzed men in the world, as opposed to most of the Neanderthals posting. You can bet if we didn’t go through these torturous routines to look nice for our men, and just went natural, they’d have something snarky to say. And when we do “pretty up,” they don’t pay any attention. The world would be a better place with more men like you.

    i know i’m no supermodel, but this bunch of women make me look good. wow! they should of put their done-up faces side by side. eh! not to mention it would be pretty hard to bang those female dogs if you no what i mean.or you could say those look like the faces of liberals.

    wow I SOOO don’t want to have anyone with a camera on me first thing in the morning!!! Christmas morning pics with the kids opening presents and me in the shot are bad enough. These people are definitely brave souls. Kudos to you for being willing.

      Doesn’t Beck realize that his audience probably has one of the highest percentages of thinking people who want to understand the truth so we can be more effective in making a positive difference for our fellow beings?       We don’t care, really- but some times our brains just need a rest, and a good laugh! I like the comments. :) And I sure wouldn’t want a camera filming me in the morning.

      I do like a dose of reality, preferring this article to the latest Hollywood plastic surgery or other stupid stuff. The Blaze only has a little puff pastry in the menu mix. Just as a little sugar in the coffee (or fluff in the news) seems to make it taste better, it’s hard to think about the serious stuff all the time…

      For me it helps to see this kind of article because it reminds me of my humanity. The fact is, the majority of us are not beauty queens, in the dark or the daylight.

      I enjoy human interest, inspiring, unusual, scientific, and fun stories.
      For many years, from age 11, I always read Ann Landers first.
      As a matter of fact, I think The Blaze should have a daily political
      cartoon. Why not? We are all multidimensional.
      About this story, I think we should have seen the girls all dolled up too.

    The young man and Dusty from Texas looked the best. The ladies need to start a basic beauty ritual at night. At least wash off the eyeliner. Its bad for you and skin. Invest in some cold cream or just bar soap at this point. Yikes.

      And also because he’s gay, well rested, and had already been up with his cup of coffee before he took that shot. The ugliest cusses on the planet are men in the morning. At least women wear make-up, so they are only 15 minutes from beauty, whereas men assault the eyeballs of everyone around them all day long.
