Websites of Israel’s Main Security Branches Crash: Hacked or Malfunction?

Israeli media reported Sunday that the websites for the country’s three major security branches and some government ministries had crashed. This comes just two days after the hacker group “Anonymous” posted a threat to Israel on YouTube warning it not to block the efforts of pro-Palestinian activists trying to sail to Gaza. Israeli officials say the IDF, Mossad and Shin-Bet (General Security Service) websites experienced a “systems malfunction” not a cyber-attack.
As of this writing, the websites were still down. This is what the Shin Bet and Mossad websites showed:
Ynet reports:
Deputy Director of the government’s Information Technology Unit Ziv Slater claimed a serious technological malfunction on one of the servers caused some of the government websites to crash. “It has nothing to do with an attack, no threat and no hacking. It’s just a systems malfunction,” said Slater. “Our best minds are working to fix the problem. They were not hacked.”
The following websites have been taken off line: Shin Bet, Mossad, IDF, IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, Health Ministry, Justice Ministry, Construction and Housing Ministry, Science and Sport’s Ministry, the President’s Residence, Immigration Authority, the Israel Land Administration and Israel Atomic Energy Commission.
On Friday, Israeli Navy vessels peacefully stopped two yachts carrying 27 pro-Palestinian activists trying to challenge the naval blockade of Gaza and deliver supplies and letters of support. Israel offered to unload the cargo in Israel and transport it by land to Gaza, but the protesters wanted to make a statement. The Israeli Navy towed the ships to Israel and authorities are in the process of deporting the activists.
A video posted on YouTube Friday titled “An open letter from Anonymous to the Government of Israel” said in a computer-generated voice:
“We do not tolerate this kind of repeated offensive behavior against unarmed civilians… If you continue blocking humanitarian vessels to Gaza… then you will leave us no choice but to strike back. Again and again, until you stop.”
The Israeli website disruption comes just one week after internet servers across the Palestinian territories came under cyber-attack, prompting the Palestinian communications minister to point a finger at Israel.

2. I don’t believe for 1 second that these cyber-punks randomly selected this “floatilla” incident. They are TOO SELF AWARE of their “public image” to be consistent and police every percieved infraction. What IS the moral code of ANONYMOUS, anyway? Why aren’t they going after CHINA? RUSSIA?SAUDI ARABIA? Regimes in AFRICA? No, they have intentionally targeted ISRAEL, because ISRAEL is a popular target of power-hungry insane people (Hilter, every radical Muslim, Socialists, etc.). After listening to their videos, especially the one they sent out to the judge that beat his daughter with a belt, it leads me to believe that this is being orchestrated by a female. Such as its nuclear weapons capabilities, it would be out of character to admit to having any governmental breach of security. They are probably using all the resources at their disposal to locate and…….well let’s just say neutralize the threat. Anonymous should realize these people have a long memory and recognize that this could happen again, preceding a PHYSICAL attack on the Israeli people. That’s why it’s in their national security interests to treat this not as merely a malicious cyber prank, disrupting everyday low priority government business. If an avowed enemy of the state, seeking its destruction gets access to the know-how of performing the same attack, it could be used to disable or disrupt to some extent early warnings of a physical attack or responses to attacks. In short, if Anonymous was behind this, it would be wise to get out of Dodge and lay low….real low. Simply changing their system to beef up its resistance to cyber attacks is just one area they’ll work on.

I strongly suggest you go to http://www.palwatch.org and learn what the Palestinians truly believe (in their own words). Hamas and the PA are pure evil. Israel is not totally blameless, but her people–not just Jews–have put up with a LOT of bad stuff, including missile attacks and not being able to visit some of their Jewish and Christian holy sites. In fact, the Muslims are destroying the holy sites under their control. Israel has a right to exist, to defend her land and heritage, and to take out her enemies.

Hanin Zoabi made an impassioned speech laying out how Israel is an Apartheid country. I watched her live yesterday at 6:00 am and was inspired. Ahmed Tibi and Hanin are so hated in Israel that the Knesset cannot function. Because of her speech in Capetown Zoabi will be stripped of her citizenship in the Entity and banished or jailed.
