Wedding Crasher: Limo Bandit Carjacks Bridesmaids

A limousine carjacker ejected a Massachusetts wedding party Saturday as they arrived for the nuptials of one blushing bride, according to The Boston Herald.  The bandit forced five bridesmaids dressed in flowing blue gowns (and their flower bouquets) from the vehicle as he made his escape from a house break-in near a Dorchester church.

Not wanting to ruin the betrothed couple’s special day, none of the bridesmaids breathed a word of the incident until after they were happily married.

It all started shortly after 1:30 p.m. when a man who had just broken into a nearby home was chased down Columbia Road, police and witnesses said.

The man first tried to get into a mail truck parked outside the church and, finding it locked, moved on to the limo, witnesses said.

“He started fighting with the driver, and the girls got out and ran,” said Karl Kammann, a Buckingham Bus driver who had just dropped off 48 guests at the church. “It was chaos. Right out from under the wedding party! What a way to get married.”

Headed in the opposite direction on Columbia Road was Gerald Whelan, who was sitting in traffic when he spotted the man get into the limo.

“I saw the driver’s side open, and the driver struggling, half in and half out,” said Whelan, 61. “He started yelling, ‘Help me! Somebody help me!’ ”

The driver managed to get out, unharmed, and the limo disappeared down Columbia Road, only to be abandoned shortly afterward on West Fifth Street in South Boston as police searched for the wedding bandit.

Inside the church, meanwhile, the Rev. Jack Ahern heard someone say there was a fender-bender and poked his head outside to make sure no one was hurt.

“I went outside, and there were five cop cars,” said Ahern, who serves as pastor to Blessed Mother Teresa and two other parishes. “And this is the safest of my three parishes!”

As police cordoned off the front of the church with crime scene tape, inside, the ceremony went on as planned, and another limo was dispatched to take the wedding party to the reception.

I am so impressed the the bridesmaids were able to keep a lid on it so as not to ruin the bride’s day! They must have been traumatized. Having such faithful friends speaks well of the bride!

The northeast is a sewer pit, I know, I lived in the NE and got here as soon as I could and married a true Texan.

Almost as bad as crashing a “State dinner” at the White House! Let see if the “punishment” is handled the same way.

If this happened in Texas there is a good chance that the driver would have a concealed hand gun and the perp would be either held until the police came or would be in the hospital now.
Kind of harsh but it would send a message that it is not nice to interrupt a bunch of bridesmaids and it would make a drugged thief think twice about using some else’s car.
For my friends in Boston who think this is not the right approach, other than to protect ourselves from an out of control government, we do have a right to protect ourselves, our families and friends and our property.
Thank God that everyone got out unhurt.

All were very lucky to get out unharmed, thank God. This does beg to ask though: Was this his limo and he was just breaking in? Was it the bride’s fault the mail truck was locked? Are the policemen in the five police cars stupid? I think we need to get a comment from Obama since he knows the Boston police department so well – let’s give him a call……….

      @Grandmaof5

Glad as well no one was hurt, and for someone to try stealing a limo outside of a wedding? Hope any judge or jury these suspects come before are informed of that little bit of information. So if I get the gist of the story right they were trying to break into a mailtruck? Fed time indeed, though for this case as Mr Obama is so familiar with Boston Police, he will probably pardon them and add them to the other crooks on his staff.

What a way to start your life together, something you’ll be able to tell your grandchildren. As far as the thief goes, I‘m surprised he didn’t come back and try to steal their wedding gifts too! What a moron.

After doing an exhaustive investigation the police stated the suspect was a former MSNBC employee who had recently been suspended and was trying to find safe refuge in the home of Barney Frank.
