Weiner Could Still Collect Up to $1.28 Million in Pension Benefits

Here’s a quick did you know. Did you know that even despite resigning yesterday, former Rep. Anthony Weiner could still collect up to $1.28 million in pension benefits?

Roll Call reports on the numbers:

According to an analysis of his available benefits by the National Taxpayers Union, the New York Democrat’s pension and a savings plan lawmakers have access to similar to a 401(k) could be worth $1.12 million to $1.28 million.

At 46, Weiner will not be eligible for his pension for another decade, at which point he could begin drawing a reduced rate of $32,357 a year, according to NTU. If he waits until age 62 to begin drawing his pension, he will receive his full benefits, or $46,224, according to NTU’s calculations.

Additionally, if Weiner aggressively invested in the Thrift Savings Plan, his balance would be roughly $216,000, the organization said.

It seems even though he’s gone, Weiner will continue to haunt the American people for years to come.

      Weiner’s mother-in-law and bro-in-law are Muslim Brotherhood card carriers. Weiner’s wife Huma is a practicing Muslim as is her mother/brother. How much more can Weiner, a Jewish man with his obscenities, degrade himself before Islam and Islamic in-laws?? And he STILL gets to have his pension?

    First they are all OVERPAID in Government, secondly when you are no longer in the office you should no longer get any benefits, NOTHING! You were either voted out which means in the real world you were FIRED and if you resign then it probably means that in the real world you were going to be FIRED! This whole system has become a joke!     They collect great healthcare benefits and retirement $’s for phpissing away the taxpayers $’s while they were serving (?, ahem,themselves) the public.

      I spent my working years in the private sector I got paid for performance.
      I am now semi-retired. I still get paid for my performance.
      If the US Congress got paid for performance, they would not be paid.But the congress also gets raises for taking US into the toilet.And they don’t have to ask the boss for their raises.
      I mean, when a company runs out of $$, there is no “munny” to pay anyone. It goes out of bidniz.
      And anyway, who would lend a company more $’s when it keeps borrowing more than it can ever repay. Bankrupt. Liquidate what assets are left , if any, and pay off the debtors a nickle on the $ . Mebbe less

      Weiner and others in congress/government get millions in pensions, for the rest of their lives, at our expense while our men and women in UNIFORM who serve SACRIFICIALLY for our FREEDOM get kicked to the curb when they quit the armed services after serving their term, HONORABLY.

      What’s wrong with this picture? Our military men and women should be the ones collecting the pensions. They (enlisted) are out there on enmy lines defending our right to vote for dirt bags like this, coming home at the end of their tour of duty and being shown the door without any financial assistance, it’s appalling.

      No, Weiner does NOT deserve his pension. You dishonor AMERICA while in office you should be shown the door. I’ll borrow a phrase from DT – Your’e FIRED! No benefits package here! See ya! Adios!       Yes, ALL PENSIONS have to be ended or we’re all really fooling ourselves about the future.

      Pensions, unlike normal pay, cannot be budgeted correctly because bureaucrats always assume unreasonable rates of return on pension investments. My favorite happens to be Wisconsin, where the genius administrators assume (try not to laugh) an 8% rate of return; even with all that’s gone wrong with investments over the last 5 years – it’s amazing.

      ALL WORKERS in this country should be paid today, for what they are worth today. Whatever the market determines the pay should be, is what it should be; not whatever our hearts “want” us to pay. There’s always a sob story to be heard, but no bigger sob story will ever be told than the destruction of this nation financially.

      Me too. If someone is in Congress for one term, they STILL get a pension and benefits? That whole system needs to be overhauled. These days, Congress is just a way for people to make money. We need more common public servants with a soul and a conscience, not more greedy lawyer/ambulance chasers.

      Like him or hate him, His behavior is not a crime (that we know of). Be careful that we remain a people of law not mob rule. What ‘The Weiner’ did was reprehensible and showed very poor judgment and disgraced the office that he held. But no criminal act was proven or even charges made. Before you advocate mob rule denying him his right remember your, a rumor, a gossip, or a wrong number from a under age child sexing to a friend way from mob rule destroying your life, deserved or not. Be better and remember Democracy comes in many forms. Mob rule is a Democracy of the majority crushing (or stealing the rights of) a minority or one.

      You do bring up a good point about mob rule. However, he is a REPRESENTATIVE and his constituents have a right to have him recalled or removed. A Republic has people that represent a group of people and if this REP continually goes against their wishes he/she should be removed by HIS/HER Constituents. Mob rule would mean anyone coming into his meeting (outsiders) and removing him…at some point each locale can recall their rep or at least write, call and express their disapproval.

      This is preposterous – it’s worth it only if he lives long enough to collect that amount. and then there is the wife – who could get alimony and half, and don’t forget child support.       Really getting tired of the misinformation or slant regarding government pensions as though federal or state workers are not deserving of a pension and it is somehow a waste of government funds. But when the DOD over spends $ billions with military contractors who funds their CEOs, management 4 million bonuses and employees great benefits and pensions from virtually 100 federal money that is somehow different. Absolutely cut spending, but cut all sections of the budget equally.
