Were Dog’s Ears Cut Off to Make Her ‘Pit Bait?’

Animal rescuers in Tipton County say a dog found walking down a road with its ears cut off is one of the worst cases of animal abuse they’ve ever seen.

In cell phone video taken just after 7-month-old Emma was rescued, you can still hear her crying and begging for attention.

“It was terrible,” said Ellen Weedman with Covington Animal Rescue. “I wanted to cry. I wanted to throw up…you could hardly look at her, but you wanted to take care of her.”

Animal rescuers found Emma walking up a country road. One ear had been completely cut off, and she was stepping on the other ear, which was only partially cut.

    Animal rights laws–need more and better–and ENFORCEMENT-maximum penalties.

    People who abuse animals often do the same to humans–they are toxic to society and the environment–prison is the only answer.

    Or, feed them to the hungry dogs (lions, bears, etc).

    My fellow blazers your love for the dog is admirable. You should extend your life to all living creatures including turkeys, chickens, pigs and cattle which we humans are abusing daily in our pursuit of food meat which is unhealthy for us anyway. Think about the poor farm creatures.

      No one should be mean to an animal. Dog is food in most parts of the world. Learn before you talk. A lot of meat is bad for anyone. You eat thing with meat products in it everyday and you don‘t even know it because you’re a No-It-All Libterd.

      Just because a person doesn’t believe in eating animal products does not make them a “*******,” whatever that is. And yes, vegans are aware of what is in food, are you? Do you know that you eat crushed up beetles from Mexico, called carmine. How about ISP in your low-fat ice cream? It’s fish blood. The list goes on and on. So please do not criticize those who have made a more humane choice. We all aren’t members of PETA, most of us know that PETA would like to outlaw household pets.

    Whoever did this SICK fkg thing needs to have his ears cut off. Maybe if these sickos knew if they were caught they would have whatever they did to their victims (whether the victims are people or animals) done to them they might think twice. People need to be treated the exact same evil way they treat others. We also need to re-open the “nut” houses so we have a place to put them where they can no longer do harm to innocents.

    On Nov. 22nd, outside of San Diego, a 4 wk old puppy was rescued from a dumpster outside a Target Store…his ears had been cut off! What is going on here? Google…puppy w/ ears cut off…it’s shocking. The consequences for such actions are minimal, to say the least, and it’s time the justice system in this country started enacting serious consequences for these monsters. These people are psychopathic sadists who enjoy inflicting pain, anywhere, anytime. For now, we fine them, they may get a few months in jail, and then they’re released…so, what’s the recidivism rate? Probably close to 100%. Their anger and rage knows no boundaries. How can we stop this insanity and keep these psychos off the streets?

    Furious anger and rage is what i feel now. God help me if i should ever encounter a person who treats animals this way in my presence. I remember my dad throwing my uncle down the same stairs that he had just kicked his dog down. My mother grabbing the dog. We didn’t see that side for ten years. That dog drove my dad insane. Painted the front entry window so he couldn’t bark at pedestrians. Would sit in the garage every day after work drinking beer, Letting the dog out to roam freely. Then would tell the dog to stay put. While the little bugger would scratch his butt to the corner of the house, my dad still immobilized in his chair with his beer. Saying don’t you think about it and watch and scream as the dog ran away again. Like yesterday and the day before that. But he always came back. To do it all over again.

    As I was reading through the commentary, I began to get the distinct impression that this mutts seems to be more important than human life. Thank you, Burnteye86 for bringing in some reason.
    The only things that should happen to the walking human garbage that crippled this dog are as follows;
    After prosecuting to the fullest extent of current law and handing down the maximum allowable sentence… 1. Excessive fines, 2. No dog license, ever. 3. And because of the heinous nature of the crime, put on a list for the ASPCA to ‘check in’ on regularly to make sure #2 is being followed, 4. And possibly most importantly, start a list similar to the sex offender registry that keeps track of the kind of people who would behave in such a manor. If a perfunctory background check used by many employers can tell the employer that they have a sadistic, possibly psychotic individual sitting in front of them. Then their fate is sealed.

    I think it’s cruel to do this to an animal but I have to wonder where the outrage is when America shreds babies in their mothers wombs. After what I’ve read at what some of you would like to do to the person responsible for this animal cruelty I have to wonder what you would like to do to an abortion Doctor.

      Usually I enjoy reading the comments on this sight, but on this page, it’s easy to see even common sense people as a whole, can be very irrational. Dog fighting should be condemned by everyone, but never should we pick a dog over a man/woman. I’d also be willing to bet most of the people on this page know someone who has had an abortion. Did you hold them down and cut their uterus out? Did you even mention that? You need to pray for yourselves, and learn to forgive these attrocities, even animal abuse.

      Clearly, people do to babies what cannot be done to animals – all in the name of “having control over their bodies.” It’s an AWFUL thing we allow to happen to babies. The only time a baby should be aborted is when it is a PHYSICAL threat to the mother’s life – and then it should be her choice. Not all women would abort then. Babies should have at least the same protection that a person has when he/she comes onto one’s property to commit a crime; they do not.

      You may not consider an animal‘s life as important as man’s but God created them first. In the case of abortion the woman chooses to have this done. My husband and I agree that a woman who chooses to have this procedure done for birth control reason should be steralized. When people abuse animals it is just as bad as when they abuse a human. Abuse is abuse. Any pyschiatrist will tell you that a “fellow human being” who will abuse an animal is just one step away from abusing humans. If someone did this to one of my animals they had better hope the lenient justice system got hold of them before I did. And, yes, I would do the same to them if they abuse any other friend or family member. And then I would forgive them.

      Yes, I have seen protests outside abortion clinics. But your answer illustrates what we were talking about. You said you protest the murder of babies, BUT you could do an ‘earectomy’ or ‘collectomy’ to the people that hurt animals. Could you suck the brains out of a late-term abortion doctor? I do not advocate that, but I am trying to understand why it SEEMS that with many, cruelty to animals elicits a more savage response than the murder of human babies, and why many, including people who quote scripture, would justify the destruction of a fellow human being, who is made in God’s image, for a soulless animal. And no, I don’t condone the crap these people do, and yes, there should be a punishment, for instance, 15-20 lashes. But all this talk of murder, castration, disfigurement, etc. is ridiculous. Sorry if that offends you. But if it does, ask yourself why.

    I wonder where Michael Vick was? My husband and i did not have children so we raised dogs and cats as children, I can not for the life of me understand why any one would hurt and domesticated animal.that poses no harm. I believe it takes a sick sick human if you can call them that to hurt defenseless animals. There has to be a special place in HELL for fools like that. I hope the little baby gets well soon and does not have fear of someone doing that again..May they ROT in HELL for all eternity.

    My dog I had for over 12 yrs just died and I am so heart broken. I loved my dog just like a child. How anyone can do this to a dog is beyond me. Sick, cruel, mean. I hope and pray this dog finds a loving home and the evil scum that did this needs to have his ears and balls cut off and stuffed down his throat or shoved up his a@@!

    Actually I work for a vet. The ears are cut back because if biten or torn they bleed excessively.This dog could have been bait or a potential fighting dog in training. Either way it is disgusting and unacceptable.

      Thank goodness this poor animal was rescued and will have a loving home. I guess Michael Vick’s stay in jail did not impress enough idiots so hopefully whomever did this horrible act will be caught and put away, regardless of age.

      Fighting labs really don’t do so well against pits.
      In my old neighborhood, a clipped the ears of a Great Dane, to this day, I do not know why.
      The rubber band around one ear makes it seems as if some god damned hick was clipping the ear for aesthetic reasons and got too close.
      People like that never seem to recognize their own intellectual limitations, they think they know and can do everything.

    These cases make me sick. These poor animals being sacrificed for greed and corruption.() Sounds alot like what the progressives have in mind for us. The laws for animal cruelty should be more strict with higher fines and jail time.Only an evil mind could be responsible for this type of behavior.

      This is beyond sickening! The people who did this are truely EVIL and need to be found and put away for the rest of their lives, after they have the same thing done to them that is. What the heck is happening to our society today. This is what happens when we don’t spank our kids when they need it. May God Bless Us and all the animals out there that are suffering at the hands of EVIL people. Take the people like this to an island somewhere and drop them all off together so they can kill eachother and save us all the trouble of dealing with preditors like them.

      My old hometown had people reporting that a lot of (dogs) pets were missing out of their yards .. no one even suggested that they we probably taken as “pit bait” until I did … it is outside of Detroit …these people are the scum of the Earth .. I hope they catch and castrate them!

      Anyone check where Michael Vick was? I will never forget what that scumbag did. A couple of years in jail? Now a starter for the NFL. Why isn’t he still locked up? Pais his debt to society you say? Then as far as I am concerned you are a scumbag too. The man should have gotten 20 years, but the NFL needed him I suppose…

      How about some rusty nails, tongs, and hot coals in addition to castrating them and removal of their own ears. Do not forget the branding iron as well for the ‘I did this to the dogs’ mark.

      Aeriously people you are talking about killing people because of what they did to animals..ANIMALS, the same beings God gave us dominion over. I have never and would never fight dogs, nor do I condone it, but I have known people who do and they were good people, besides what you may think. DUSTYLUV- Mike Vick did pay his debt to society, and like most people who are involved in animal fighting they dont realize it is wrong, it’s the culture in which they grow up. Most people who fight animals have been around it their whole lives and see it the same way as hunting for sport. Dont turn in to PETA on me. These people can be reformed, as Mike Vick was, and not killed with a “rusty nail” or “shot in the head”. Like I said, this is wrong, but to varying degrees. If you hunt for sport but disavow animal fighting, please tell me your rationale….

      I sincerely doubt those resposible for this dispicable torture would have BALLS!! Therefore it would be impossible to cut them off. It is there lack of ‘balls’ that makes them crazy. They lack in all other aspects of human morals also.
      Any real person with balls, is usually heroic and does noble things! Even the female species, have more balls, than these thugs!!
