‘We’re Gonna Die!’ Two Guys Purposefully Drive Through Terrifying Tornado (Language Warning)

It’s hard to find the words to sum this one up. Two guys decided that it would be a good idea to purposefully drive their car into the path of a tornado (the YouTube post says it’s the recent storm in Springfield, MA).
Their journey starts out with some light-hearted laughter, but the exploit quickly turns dangerous when the storm sends leaves, branches — even trees — hurling about outside of the vehicle. Watch the madness for yourself:

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 7:39amReminds me of the couple that didn’t believe the book description of never sail into a waterspout. They decided to do it mid ocean and we heard what happened to them after they made it to port weeks later. They concured never sail into a waterspout–DUH! Lost lots of valuable gear and equipment that one needs when long-distance sailing to survive! They were lucky to survive themselves! I will never understand people and why they can’t take the words/history of others as warnings. Makes life easier. That is why they wrote it down in the first place, is it not?

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 7:54amHey, I’m from Alabama and there are several videos of young people chasing the monster storm that hit Tuscaloosa, so I would blame the age of these guys rather than their geography. I wouldn’t want my grandsons to do this but I can understand the curiosity that makes people do it. Future storm chasers, perhaps? It was surreal to hear the very same language coming from these Massachusetts guys that you hear coming from the Alabama guys when they are confronted with the power of the storm. Glad they were not hurt.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 10:12amIt’s one thing to be a “Stormchaser”, and another thing altogether to say “Let drive into the tornado! Weeeee …”

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 10:28pmactually, this tornado was rated as an EF-3. not a monster, but pretty substantial. there was some pretty substantial damage throughout the city and outlying suburbs.
