National Journal considered Perry’s “rambling” comments on China during the Saturday night GOP debate to be “long” and “convoluted.”
They have the transcript here.

Posted on November 13, 2011 at 12:49pmWell the way I see it it’s a crying shame that nobody votes on principle instead of whether they have a D or an R after their name… Personally I’d vote for Joe Blow of the XYZ party if they actually stood on principle instead of politics… My opinion, that is if I’m still allowed one…. The parties are the ones responsible for the mess we’re in…. George Washington’s admonitions on parties have come to fruition and now we are reaping our just rewards.. Get a grip try being and American first….

Posted on November 13, 2011 at 7:55amWith all due respect to Texas and Perry lovers, this guy needs to get off the stage. Being articulate and persuasive is an essential aspect of the job as President, especially for a conservative. Cringe inducing every time he opens his mouth is not a formular for Presidential success. Every debate this guy has “stepped in it”. As he fumbles and bumbles around, all he has is mud sliinging and drunken round houses that he can‘t land because he’s so inarticulate. I believe he is a decent man, but he is hurting himself, his state, his family, and his party.

Posted on November 13, 2011 at 8:16amI used to think it didn’t matter on who could debate better. Then I heard it put this way: Obama is a great orator (speaker, however you spell that), and if we want to win against him, it doesn’t matter whether the person is right (as in correct), a true conservative, or looks good on stage. We need someone who can debate toe to toe with Obama in order to win. That being said, even though I don’t support him yet, that would be Newt Gengrich. I personally think we won‘t win unless Herman Cain gets the nomination and the Left can’t use the race card. So, I’m torn between those two. Newt is a bit too establishment for me, but he is the smartest person in the room.

Posted on November 13, 2011 at 9:03amI do not get it when people call Obama a great speaker. he always comes off as a goof to me, and he is transparent in that you can hear him say one thing, and know he means something else.
It is kind of like back when people praised Slick Willy for his speaking ability. All I heard was lies.
It makes me think that much of America is stupid and can not see reality.

Posted on November 13, 2011 at 9:49amRangerP . . . i agree! Take Herb Cain for example. He’s a plain spoken every day kind of Joe. Straight shooter. On China, for example, while everybody else is struggling with policy and geo political details, Herb cuts straight to the solution . . . “To fix China, here’s what you do. You identify the problem. And that’s China. Then you fix it. It’s NOT THAT HARD.”
Thanks, Herb.

Posted on November 13, 2011 at 12:20pmLoriann12–With Newts past support of a healthcare mandate and continued belief in manmade global warming he is essentially the same candidate as Romney but without the family values, considering his serial adultery, As for voting for Cain so the Dems will not call you a racist; they will say the only reason you are voting for him is to mask your racism. You should not base your vote on trying to take away the race card. It will be played agianst you regardless of who the nominee is.

Posted on November 14, 2011 at 12:09amWhat a lie, what matters is not some american idol contest, ideas matter, record matters, experience matters. Rick Perry would be a better president that Romney any day. Cain cannot win, nor should he. He is ignorant of things that matters, and I am not saying he is dumb, just ignorant, he does not know. There is no way Perry should get off the stage, he is the only one who will withstand the liberal media, they already hit him with everything. The debates wont matter, because the main stream media will tell independent Obama told the truth while everyone else lies. But Perry has a record that will do two thing that beat Obama. First, the in-state helps us get the Latino vote, even if you do not like the policy, Democrats would not be better on it. Plus, the instate issue is overblown. There are 16,000 of those kids, they get a in-state break, the same as all others in-state, they have to be in the state for 3 years, on path way to being a citizen, and pay taxes. The supreme courts demands states take care of illegals, so it was cheaper for Texas to go that route.
Report Post »The second reason Perry beats Obama is because of Texas, job creation, and proof conservatism works. Romney will run with a liberal record, and a moderate plan. He is John Kerry. Perry can rightly claim he governed the state that created half of the country’s jobs since Obama came to office. The left and Obama will try to slam the record in Texas, but in doing so Perry just says, well then take half of his record

Posted on November 13, 2011 at 5:32amChina has been engaging in the largest espionage campaign in the world against our universities, corporations, military and government. What do our corrupt politicians do? They open the door wider for record numbers of Chinese foreign nationals to flood our universities displacing our own students, give record numbers of visa’s to foreigners to steal our jobs, allow foreign nationals to join our military and government and once they steal and copy what they need, they compete against us, make tons of money off our backs and turn right around when our economy is bad and buy our land, our businesses, our property and mass migrate to colonize our country. We must be the stupidest people on the face of the earth to let this happen. Donald Trump is right, we are the laughingstock of the world and the Chinese are laughing at us because we are so stupid to get used and taken advantage of in every way.

Posted on November 13, 2011 at 3:09pmI agree. I thought he was making a good and needed point, but doing it poorly. That seems to be the Perry debate style.
I wonder how valuable articulateness is for voters. I think it’s more important for Dems than Republicans. Dems like to think their guys are smarter, so appearances are important. As long as we think we can tgrust the guy and agree with him most Republicans and conservatives don’t put that much stock in eloquence. It would be nice to have it, like fudge on a sundae, but we can do without it. George W was a case in point.
I have a feeling that most Americans feel the same way. Only if inarticulateness gets connected to a feeling that the candidate doesn’t know much can it REALLY be decisive. Certain debate flubs can reveal a real doubt about the candidates stand our trustworthiness in an area. But if we feel that we know where he stands and are comfortable with that I doubt many will really be dissuaded just because he fumbles in debates. He won’t be doing these “debates” in office. No President goes through these kind of artificial media controled gymnastics as part of the job.
