Westboro Protester: We Should ‘Spit and Crap’ on ‘F*g Flag’

On Thursday, the Westboro Baptist Church showed up in St. Louis to protest legislation that would limit picketing at funerals. While the protest was short-lived (10 minutes before 300 counter protesters ran them out of town), it didn’t take long for one church member to broadcast her views on the flag. She believes people should “spit and crap” on the “f*g flag”:
As a side note, the ACLU is representing the church in its fight against the legislation.

Posted on January 7, 2011 at 11:01amWho are these people, really? They are surely not Christians and they are surely not patriots or conservatives… The WBC is not affiliated with any known Baptist conventions or associations. The church describes itself as following Primitive and Calvinist principles, though mainstream Primitive Baptists reject the WBC and Phelps? The preacher has only been there since 2002? FUNNY how the ACLU is DEFENDING them. Pardon me if I am a bit suspicious of this so called “right wing, Christian” group. The medai uses this as a great way to discredit religion and they give them world exposure as HATERS. Anyone else think this is a bit “fishy?”

Posted on January 7, 2011 at 11:16amI think it would be priceless beyond words if someone found evidence of leftist leanings in WBC. Unfortunatley that kind of irony is likely to elude us. If it quaks and waddles, it is a duck after all. These people are just an example of group-think bias and extremism. What is sad is that for this tiny minority of the Christian community no one in the media recognizes their equal/opposite in all the public employee unions, ACORN, and enviromentalists.

Posted on January 7, 2011 at 11:12amYou’ve hit the nail on the head – they’re NOT real Christians. They are a family (I suspect inbred) of lawyers who are gaming the system. That’s how they make their money; winning lawsuits against people that they have successfully provoked into taking action against them.
I’ve often wondered how they would react if a group of Christians showed up on a Sunday morning before their “church” services started, and quietly and calmly started picketing their “church” as members were arriving. Maybe hold signs calling on Fred Phelps and his followers to repent of their hatred, their lies, their scripture twisting, and calling on them to exhibit true Christian love toward their fellow man, just as Jesus instructed His followers to do.
Probably nothing would change, since they’re not true followers of Jesus and are therefore not likely to practice His teachings.

Report Post »America, the Great, protected and exported liberty and properity to the world. America‘ the depraved’, exports sexual deviance, weapons, murder, Hedonism, idolatry, and arrogance. Mystery Babylon…the great whore of the great book of Revelation…Does look like the United States. I have no doubt that She is being judged right now. She is also home to a GREAT number of God’s elect.
We allowed legalized abortion, We sanctioned extreme usery. We let the progressives take our children away from us. We allowed the pursuit of wealth to become our pursuit of happiness. We became hyper-sexualized. We became indifferent to Satanic images in our media and entertainment. We put our future in the hands of men with children’s minds.
I understand Patriotism, and I do love what our country has been, and what we stood for a mere 30-40 years ago. I do not love or respect what she has become….The great whore…Mystery Babylon. This may be westboros’ focus.
It is people that must become the focus. Politics, national or global, is not going to be enough this time. We have to put our efforts into righteousness, and that does not include folks that purposely hurt grieving parents, and denigrate our noble military.

Posted on January 7, 2011 at 1:14pmExactly. They have every right to protest so long as they aren’t doing in on private property of those that do not want that message. On public property, as tax paying Americans, they have the right to protest. Local Government has more leeway here in restricting them from protest. It depends on if their State has a Constitution that grants similar first amendment rights.

Posted on January 7, 2011 at 11:21amsnowleopard, these people are not Christians. I watched a documentary on the Phelps clan and their leader/father, Fred, mocked the idea that Jesus is anyone’s personal savior. These people do not know Jesus and they have perverted the beautiful gospel of Christ into something hateful. Also, I don’t go to a Baptist church, but I do know that none of the Baptist conventions will have anything to do with these hate-mongers.
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?” (Jesus speaking in Mt 7:15-16).
“Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” (Jesus speaking in Mt 7:20-23).
“Then they said to Him, ‘What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.’” (Jn 6:28-29).
“Then the Lord spoke to him. ‘You Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish,’ he said. ‘But inside you are full of greed and evil.’” (Jesus speaking in Lk 11:39).

Posted on January 7, 2011 at 11:46amI believe that Chrstians have the obligation to judge our sysems and intentions in the world arena, but we also must remember that each and every individual on the planet is a child of GOD, whether he/she recognizes it or not. The westboro people have forgotten this and are hurting their spiritual brothers in Christ. In this they are actually supporting the inception of CHAOS-the devil’s own modus operandi.

Posted on January 7, 2011 at 3:42pm@Max Jones, your theology is entirely misguided and unequivocally false. All men and women are NOT children of God by mere virtue of their physical birth. Adam, as the first man directly created by God, was a child of God. We, as offspring of the flesh of Adam however, are children of man or children of sin. It is only by the rebirth through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord that we gain the RIGHT to be called children of God. To believe anything else places one’s faith dangerously close to the slippery slope of an “all roads lead to Heaven” theology which is itself little better than disbelief itself.
John 1:12 – Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God…

They were so violent that no one could pass that way. ‘What do you want with us, Son of God?’ they shouted. ‘Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?’ Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. The demons begged Jesus, ‘If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.’ He said to them, ‘Go!’ So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.” (Mt 8:28 – 32).

Report Post »I hope you understand just how far they go in there so called protests ,and never ever are the victom of such horrific assaults on the heart & mind in a time of sorrow as others have suffered as the WBBChurch hurled there nastyness & waved there signs (I stated my belife in the right to protest & free speech BUT also stated there is a boundry of respect & deacency they constantly cross.. its not a protest when it becomes such a vulgar & hatefilled assault on a person or groupe of people at such a time ,it becomes anything but. & should be a crime ~theres the real “offensive” thing~…thank God the courts are considering such legislation to squelch ehere crime …it might save there pathetic lives!!)
As far as you considering my thoughts “dangerous” ,I am not promoting such actions ~AND STATED THAT~ ,but I live in the real world & am aware that sooner or later they will strike a chord in the already wounded heart &/or mind of someone that will take violent action(s) ,call me sick if you wish, but I do not want to simply read an artical about any such reprisals I wanna see the video footage.
…will it be the wrong Soldiers funeral that willingly put his/her life in harms way for all of our freedoms or the trash they spew about homosexuals? could they truly offend someone that takes respect for The Flag to the limit? …who knows! ,but by lighting bigg fires under pots sooner or later ones gonna boil over.
~~ Its like the car wreck I saw a few weeks ago , I do not want to see such things happen but that day I and many others just had to watch…
the only crime comitted is that they (The WBBChurch) keeps pumpin there twisted crap on INDIVIDUALS & yet abuse the Freedom Of Speech Right to call it a protest of the Governments Military actions , pepoles right to sexual preferance or respect or lack thereof for The Grand Ole’Flag
do and belive what you desire but me , if I notice the ineveitable happens & video footage is out there, I’m gonna sling a bag of popcorn in my microwave , watch & laugh.

Posted on January 8, 2011 at 8:03amSERGIO–OK…very gracious. I don’t like suffering in man or dog or bird. I’m not so concerned with the westboro mob. Every thought that a man has, lives with him for a long time. Fantasizing violence can not be a good thing for you. It is poison that will lie in the stomach of your soul. I said a prayer, hoping that you would not be upset with my actions, yesterday. As far as the westboro nuts, they are not condemned. what they do is not ‘the unforgivable sin’. We should hope that they repent their downright meanness. Wishing for violence and murder to befall them is no more Christian than what they are doing.
Report Post »I will admit that I feel like whuppin’ some a$$, too, sometimes, but then right thought comes pouring in, and I get a prayer instead. Leave the punishing and judging to the Father, Ok. He’s got the whole picture, we do not.

I love it! This is what should happen in every town .. I would gladly counter protest if they come anywhere near where I live! Bring it on!

Posted on January 7, 2011 at 11:35pmI think these people should go down and spit and crap on Obama’s buddies flag. Go spit on Hugo Chavez’s flag and see what happens. Only in America can people be so stupid and not be locked up. But if being stupid was a crime I know a few million people who voted for Obama who would need locked up.

Posted on January 8, 2011 at 2:53pmWell, I’m a Marine that fought under the American Flag and if someone spits on it or desecrates it in any way in my presence, I don’t believe I could control my anger enough to not hit the person in their big fat lip.
How can any AMERCAN feel that way about the American Flag and how can a CHRISTIAN have so much hate in their heart ? Answer, they’re not Americans or Christians.
