WH Press Sec Jay Carney & Fox News‘ Gretchen Carlson Spar Over Obama’s Job Speech

This morning, Fox and Friends’ Gretchen Carlson and White House Press Secrety Jay Carney had what can only be described as an uncomfortably-heated exchange.
Carney, appearing on the show to discuss President Obama’s highly-anticipated jobs speech, was careful not to divulge too much information. Carlson, of course, pushed hard for explicit details about the president’s plan.
National Journal provides a snapshot of their debate:
Carlson: “Why go before the joint session of Congress if you’re going to say stuff that the American public has already heard time and time again in 10 to 12 speeches before? Why say, ‘I’m going to go on vacation for a month, and then I’m going to come back and give this grandiose speech—”
Carney: “Wait wait wait wait –”
Carlson: “– if it’s going to be the same exact speech that we’ve heard –”
Carney: “I’m not sure whose talking points you’re reading, Gretchen…The American public will hear a lot of new ideas. I want to correct you. The folks who went on a month-long vacation weren’t the president, it was the Congress. Secondly, the American people will hear a lot of new and innovative ideas that they haven’t heard before. They will also hear very common-sense, sensible ideas like a payroll tax cut for every working American.”
Carney wouldn’t share specific numbers, of course, as he didn’t want to step ahead of his “boss” on the matter. That said, he reassured Carlson that “everything will be paid for” and made it a point to say that “The American people are so not interested in the partisan bickering.”
At one point during the exchange, Carney said, “I‘m not sure if you’ve talked to any economists.” Carlson interrupted and said, ”Tons.” On Carney’s end, one could have interpreted this to be a bit condescending, while a hint of annoyance was detected in Carlson’s response.
Truly, an entertaining — and interesting — debate.

Feed people until you get re-elected, then you can do anything you want. The House should just say no. Too much of “our money” is tied up in this “stimulus spending” and does not leave any for creating tax paying jobs-going further into debt.

A lot of liberals disagree with Carney that tax cuts create jobs. Let’s say your right for argument sake. Are there any liberals on this site that could explain how increasing taxes on job creators will spur job growth? I have asked this numerous times with no takers. So if you were presented with the task promoting job creation and would choose tax increases over the current tax rates or tax cuts, I would like to hear your explanation. The Fox & Friends “journalists” are Polemical Journalists, meaning they flavor their news with personal or corporate messages. I think Sawyer, Walters and other opinion columnists would have ended up with the same or more information sooner with less friction.
Real objective journalists (reporters) would wait to hear or read the speech before describing it.
In real life, relentlessly agressive pit bulls sometimes need to be put down for the public’s safety.

Now Obama wants to give the states some money to bring back the fat for what? A year or 2 worth of funds? Then thell be back in the same boat. Whatagain .

Posted on September 8, 2011 at 1:21pmSo, we are going to BORROW 1/2 TRILLION or 1/3 TRILLION dollars, give it to people to build ‘stuff’, then, they will pay back into the system with taxes – 250 billion that will be used to pay people to build ‘stuff’ and pay taxes.Take out 80% for govt overhead, union ‘protection money’, etc. and you will have 50billion in payroll. Taxes paid will amount to 20billion. Repeat the cycle, and you will send out another 4billion in payroll, and get back 1billion in taxes.
Then, the WPA life cycle is OVER. Oops ! Did I say “WPA”? I didn’t mean “WPA,” that was the ‘jobs program’ that EXTENDED the Great Depression by 5 to 10 YEARS, instead of allowing us to recover!!
Now, what we REALLY NEED, is another SPEECH ! ! !

obama’s plan is to point fingers, make excuses, and try the exact same thing that has already failed him ??
His ACTUAL plan is, to propose something like this; something he KNOWS will not pass into law; then, point fingers at the Tea Party and at Republicans for not passing it into law. Blaming his ENTIRE #FAIL ed presidency on them. People have a VERY short memory, and many WANT to believe their anointed one.
THAT is his real plan.
On the outside chance it were to pass, he can band-aid the economy by STEALING FROM OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN, and giving handouts to his voters from now to election day.
What an ABSOLUTE SCAM ! ! !
If this were a COMPANY, he would be IN JAIL ! ! !
