What? Reid Calls Robert Byrd and Ted Kennedy Greatest Living Americans

In response to a question asking Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid if he could name the “greatest living American,“ Reid responded with ”Ted Kennedy“ and ”Robert Byrd.” One problem (possibly among many), the interview was conducted after Kennedy‘s and Byrd’s deaths.*
David Brody [Interviewer]: Can you think of a greatest living American?
Reid: I’m glad I had the opportunity to know Ted Kennedy. Whether you agreed with him or not, what a life he lead with his two brothers being assassinated, his other brother being killed in World War II. And Robert Byrd who just died. What a– he was in the Congress of the United States for more than 25 percent of the time that we have been a country. That’s fairly remarkable.
Is America so bereft of great figures that Reid must reference two deceased Senators? And if he would have rather named a great American who has died, certainly history’s buffet offers many more choices than two recently passed liberal political figures.
The interview is part of CBN reporter David Brody’s series of upbeat, playful interviews with political figures. In an e-mail to The Blaze, Brody confirmed that the interview was done in late July (released today), but is willing to give Reid the benefit of the doubt on the timeline issue:
To be fair, I think he was simply saying that when he was alive he considered Kennedy the greatest living American so he didn’t qualify it.
*(The story has been updated to correctly reflect that Byrd is the Senator who passed along with Kennedy.)

It is tucked neatly away on page 107 to confuse its meaning and intent from the American people. Please look it up yourselves and check with Snopes. It is there. Here is a brief summary of its meaning and what it will do to the Constitution and our system of laws.
The Status of Non-Muslim Minorities Under Islamic Rule
Dhimmitude: the Islamic system of governing populations conquered by jihad wars, encompassing all of the demographic, ethnic, and religious aspects of the political system. The word “dhimmitude” as a historical concept, was coined by Bat Ye’or in 1983 to describe the legal and social conditions of Jews and Christians subjected to Islamic rule. The word “dhimmitude” comes from dhimmi, an Arabic word meaning “protected”. Dhimmi was the name applied by the Arab-Muslim conquerors to indigenous non-Muslim populations who surrendered by a treaty (dhimma) to Muslim domination. Islamic conquests expanded over vast territories in Africa, Europe and Asia, for over a millennium (638-1683). The Muslim empire incorporated numerous varied peoples which had their own religion, culture, language and civilization. For centuries, these indigenous, pre-Islamic peoples constituted the great majority of the population of the Islamic lands. Although these populations differed, they were ruled by the same type of laws, based on the shari’a.
This similarity, which includes also regional variations, has created a uniform civilization developed throughout the centuries by all non-Muslim indigenous people, who were vanquished by a jihad-war and governed by shari’a law. It is this civilization which is called dhimmitude. It is characterized by the different strategies developed by each dhimmi group to survive as non-Muslim entity in their Islamized countries. Dhimmitude is not exclusively concerned with Muslim history and civilization. Rather it investigates the history of those non-Muslim peoples conquered and colonized by jihad.
Dhimmitude encompasses the relationship of Muslims and non-Muslims at the theological, social, political and economical levels. It also incorporates the relationship between the numerous ethno-religious dhimmi groups and the type of mentality that they have developed out of their particular historical condition which lasted for centuries, even in some Muslim countries, till today.
Dhimmitude is an entire integrated system, based on Islamic theology. It cannot be judged from the circumstantial position of any one community, at a given time and in a given place. Dhimmitude must be appraised according to its laws and customs, irrespectively of circumstances and political contingencies.

It is now the Progressive party that is even left of socialism. All they want to do is dismantle our free market system and do away with capitalism. If you can live with that then vote democrat. He was a womanizer of the first order and treated women like sluts. He drowned one of them and tried to get others to take the blame. He was as far left as it is possible to go. He was great at spending other peoples money. He stopped the wind farm energy program because it would spoil the view from his mansion. He was a troubled child in a grown up body. Senator Byrd was another one that was a leader of the KKK until it seemed to block his political career. He was a student of the Constitution and fought for it when it didn’t conflict with his views on race. He was a fixture in the senate and stayed too long. A hypocrite but did a lot for his state at the expense of others. A number one procurer of earmarks. Their are many others we need to get rid of and we need term limits this time. We need new blood and not those who grew up in politics. Business men and women who know how to create jobs and run businesses. It is time for a clean sweep. God bless America
