What Was the Strange ‘Fireball’ That Lit Up the Texas Sky Last Night?

Texas to Kansas Saw Meteor Streak Across Night Sky

Sky watchers from Waco, Texas, all the way to Oklahoma City saw an unexpected meteor streak across last night’s sky.

Watch the ABC News report with footage of the meteor making its way slowly across the screen:

KIII TV reports that the Federal Aviation Commission has confirmed it was in fact a meteor.

The footage was captured from a camera on a police vehicle but here’s the question of the day: Was the minivan in front of the cop car pulled over and did they still get a ticket?

What was that strange fireball streaking across the night sky?…. uh. a fireball. happens about 10,000 times a year. You guys who saw it, go get your metal detector and track er down, worth more than gold; even more so since China is buying all of it.

Man I’m think that guy in the pulled over jeep or whatever… He’s the one to watch. How the heck did he make a star fall from the sky to throw the officer off his game? I heard the officer let him go, called the Fastrunner guys and well, you know where I’m going. Blah Blah, just like the story. Shouldn‘t this be linked to Michelle’s underwaer purchases? It could have happened at the same EXACT TIME?!?!?! Conspiracy?? You betcha!!

JB Kibs — they are when they’re moving away from you. Or more accurately, they appear to be. And that meteorite (the proper term) is definately moving away from the camera, not just traveling left to right.

Wiener – a meteor is anything that enters the Earth’s atmospher, a meteorite is anything that has landed.

Meteors have tails as thier substance burns off from frictional heat. This one didn’t.

My husband and I both saw it and it was clearly a large meteor which glowed bright green in the front and had an orange tail. I have never seen a “shooting star” inside the well-lit San Antonio city limits before, much less one this bright.

Everyone in the outfield at my ballgame saw it, they were kind of freaked out by it. I thought they all drank too much before the game.

at this exact time around 8:25 at tinker air base there was 4 C4′s that took off.I live aprox 1.5 miles away from the air base. All of them took off in a row. In fact is was so strange i called my friend. So he could here them. Not long after that is when i seen the streak and then a con trail after it. They may say its a meteor But i am not buying it.
Why is it they seen the comet coming weeks in advanced. seen the huge meteor a few months ago in advanced. Yet no one seen this one hmm interesting. and i as well herd a sonic boom.

hmm. moving that slow it might have been a close graze. A sonic boom sounds like it must have been a big one. most shooting stars simply streak by but this one was big, heavy and still far enough away to seem to be moving slow. Guess they can’t detect them all huh?

I saw one in broad daylight. Huge, seemingly slow and left a huge trail of black and gray smoke behind it until it skipped back into space. Took my breath away. That was in 1974 and I can still remember evey detail. Awesome.

It was swamp gas let off by a lighthouse in Florida. Then a flock of birds in Texas got startled by the lighthouse in Florida and flew over the road in what appeared to be a meteor. Those are the kinds of explanations they usually give.
