I understand what Juan is saying, but…………..I once heard Walid Shoebat (and EX-PLO terrorist) say “just look at people when you get on the airplane or whatever; and if you see anyone with the callus mark on their forehead (like the Christmas Day bomber) from praying on their prayer rug and they are also clean shaven–get off the plane or out of where you are, because they are only allowed to be clean shaven when they are involved in jihad.

Come on people..it is not about..squeezing a trigger. It is about the responsibility of the voters, it is about honest representation, it is about doing your personal responsibility in doing research, in giving a nod when the dreaded “other side” actually makes a point. To be dangerous and fail with what we, as conservatives are accused of (ie..being illogical, being emotional, being threatening, etc) will never make salient points in a poltical debate. Rise above and make a better argument and get involved and stop being so simple minded. People should not be too partisan to care or too stupid to notice. Be honest. Demand real accountability in your representation and also demand accountability in yourself.

hey, when i‘m on a plane and i see someone get up and walk to the bathroom i usually try to suss ’em out real fast and see what they’re up to no matter what they look like.

    that is the new reality.

it is now impossible to hijack a plane, or act like an idiot on a plane, w/out a bunch of guys kicking your @ss..

    that warms my heart.

BookHound nailed it. However, if they put themselves in a position to get suspicious looks, then they’ve earned them. We need to take it upon ourselves to get educated on exactly who and what we’re dealing with. We’ve had too many jokers go over the deep end with they see a Sikh for instance. Mohammedans are a special case. We don’t owe them anything. Self preservation should be our goal. If you hurt their feelings they’ll get over it. Williams, as wrong headed as he normally is is correct on this one. Though nervous is not the word I’d use. I think aware is a better word.

With regards to his comments about the garb, I’m certain he is not the only one to ever have such thoughts. I’ve found Mr. Williams to be fair while debating issues, unlike Mr. Beckel or Dr. Hill from Columbia University. Even Ms. Powers has lightened up some (methinks she sees issues in a different bit of light now)

I haven’t flown since 9/11 – about 6 months before 9/11 I was on a business trip and there were several foreign looking young men setting together. They were pointing out areas of the plane during the whole trip and timing something with a stop watch writing everything down and something about them make me very nervous. Then 9/11 happened and I am sure these guys were checking out the flight for that day. I believe there were other planes that were suppose to be hijacked that day but the terrorists chickened out. http://wp.me/pYLB7-gd

I love that Juan Williams is both a PBS long timer and a FoxNews contributor. To contend that FN should get rid of him, or Beckel, or Kirsten Powers or Dr. Hill..is just bobbleheading and not opening your mind to other opinions. FN is always accused of being biased, yet they are not. They do give both sides and allow for honest debate. I like that. I admire Juan Willams. He gives his view point and he is honest. Beckel is just a spin miester insider hack who will tap dance until the song is over..but, it is obvious and he takes his hits. I dig that FN has all points of view. It is up to the watcher to be responsible, research and make up their own mind. That is cool with me.

Wise action, White Fang. Call it racial profiling if you want to, but the people flying planes into our buildings, packing their underpants with bombs, stuffing explosives in their shoes and leaving SUV’s in New York loaded with bombs are middle-eastern, so excuuuuuuuuuse me if I exit a constricted area when someone who looks middle-eastern enters. I’d rather be considered a live bigot than die trying to show how tolerant I am.

      Posted on October 18, 2010 at 9:52pm

Lets get real here. Everyone racially profiles others. It is human nature to distrust someone you do not know. It has been that way for over 6,000 years of man’s history. Caution is called for if a certain race or culture has proved themselves to be suspect. On the other hand individuals in that culture can and many times do prove themselves to be regular folks, and to them we have friendly considerations. If I get on a plane and someone indicates he is a muslim, I initially do not trust that person DUE TO THEIR ISLAMIC BAD RECORD IN OUR SOCIETY. Remember 9-11-01?

      Posted on October 19, 2010 at 4:42am

The danger of profiling is that you might not see the threat if the profile is subverted. They didn‘t look middle eastern or they didn’t have a middle eastern accent, or a towel on their head and a beard. Although i would consider all of those a pretty good indicater for concern.

P.S. I’m not getting on that plane, better safe than sorry.

Profiling is what keeps a man from being bit by a snake. I don’t alert on a bunny rabbit, but a copperhead gets my attention real quick. Any snake I run into is considered poisonous, automatically, until I get a good look at it and can determine otherwise. That is profiling, and it’s very prudent. I don‘t give a flip if it’s politically correct or not!

Wise……..Yours is a manly, mature outlook on this matter. Many say “Oh..lets not hurt someones feelings” by considering them a possible threat to our safety. I once heard a illustration comparing babies and how lovable they are, bunnies, kittens, puppies, etc. Then they pick up a baby rattlesnake saying oh how cute…….You learn real quick that all creatures are guilty until proven innocent.

It’s dangerous to walk around the world with a clouded head of where threats could be. The more prudent people will analyze quicker and react faster if they expect the threat to come, instead of thinking hmmmm I HAVE NO CLUE WHY THEY ARE DOING THIS? Keep you friends close and your enemies closer without a blind eye to the way they live ^^

This is to NEVRFORGET: I went to the website and yes there are Muslims out there that denounce terrorism. But I would think that at least one of these leaders could get the rest of the Muslims to gather together and all denounce terrorism as one body. Then the media couldn’t cover it up as you put it. But until they take up arms in the countries around the world and fight as we do. Then its going to be the same ol same ol. I really do hope for their sakes and ours that they do denounce terrorism. But its going to take more than a few websites to prove it. Action speaks louder than words.

Come on guys? I would love to believe that there are moderate muslims. But you have to remember that these radicals are their holy warriors. the so called moderates are the subjecated refugees running from the devout religeon, But, they don’t know anything else, out of fear, they believe will be punished for leaving the faith. I have a few freinds that were raised muslim but no longer practice islam (converted to chritianity) and they fear for their lives, that they will one day run into a relative that will attempt to carry out an honor killing to gain favor with allah, yea, its a holy ordained and mandated action in islam. They are considered worse or lower than infedels. That is why most “moderate” muslims will not speak out against them. They would paint a huge bulleye on thier heads. SICK religion.

Sharia law is completely out of sinc with our law. Our prisons are full of people that would be considered good citizens under sharia law. Child molesters, rapists, murderers, wife and child beaters. It doesn’t get more digusting than that.

I understand where you’re coming from, and I certainly believe that they are afraid. They still have to stand for what is right. We as Christians also have some crazies running around doing things that nobody agrees with. There are plenty of things in scripture that can be twisted for nefarious purposes. I personally don’t believe in Islam, but that’s my choice.

What I was really getting at, was if they really want people to stop talking about Muslims and Terrorists and linking the two together, they have to do something to prove it incorrect, otherwise it will continue.

Sometimes he plays the conservative when he is standing in for a conservative. So sometimes it’s confusing just what the man really thinks. But he’s probably a moderate liberal. He’s one of the less offensive ones. The lady that teaches in California at Occsodental (spelled wrong) I can’t take her at all. I would sure hate to have a child of mine sitting under that lady. Agree. Juan is probably my favorite liberal on fox news for all the reasons mentioned above.

Agree with you there. While Juan Williams is not someone I would agree with very often, he’s one of the few HONEST liberals out there..one of the reasons he does so well on Fox News. I understand that he has a real problem with liberals and progressives who consider him to be a “sell out” and turncoat because he works at Fox.
These people need to consider that being on Fox gives Williams a MUCH bigger audience for his liberal viewpoint than anywhere else…..His honest counterpoint is actually HEARD, not IGNORED like it is at MSNBC, CNN, etc.
Finally, it’s refreshing to know that not all liberals reject the reality of the danger of islam. Thank you Juan!

My reaction also. There are no moderate Muslims period. There are only Muslims that haven’t become extremists yet. They all believe the same Koran. So unless there is two different Koran’s then they all have one belief. So I am with Jaun on this one.

Juan is a man of integrity, and yes… what Democrats used to be like. If Obama wasn’t black, Juan would not be so captivated by his occupation of the White House. I can never understand how proud Juan was on election night, because I am white. His sincere appreciation for Obama’s accomplishment and what it represents is one thing, but Juan….Don’t be a racist. Look past the skin color at the agenda of the man. Isn‘t that what we are asking all American’s to do…look past the skin color?

Its the same thing with the black community. They don’t trust “whitey” or the government because of all the crap that they had to go through.

I have seen him be blatantly wrong for all the wrong reasons, but agree he is far more balanced than Colms and Beckle and other lib talking heads. I would break bread with him to pick his mind on topics, knowing he would be reasonable on most issues.

Agree – Juan is an honest guy. Regarding the comment, I have spent a lot of time overseas and I do not get nervous when I see the garb. I am more concerned when they try to blend in to avoid scrutiny. Just my opinion.

The bigger problem with this story is America‘s perception of ’moderate’ Muslims. As Americans, we tend to try and frame everything from our own point of view, and Islam is no exception. We like to think that the ‘moderate’ Muslim is one that wants to live in peace and freedom, peacefully coexisting with Christians, Jews and everyone else. But is that really true?

Estimates are that 10-15% of Muslims worldwide actively participate in terrorism and are willing to kill and/or die in the advancement of their ‘religion.’ Although estimates vary widely, as much as 85% of the Muslims worldwide agree with and support the terrorist activities in some way (economically, politically, etc.) or agree it is justified to reach a desired end: a world ruled by an Islamic Caliphate. That does not leave many to support peaceful coexistence.

I contend that, when viewed through the eyes of the worldwide Muslim community, the proponents of peaceful coexistence, those we call ‘moderate,’ are the radicals. Given that they would be subject to death for supporting this point of view, not many will speak out. In this world view, the ‘moderate’ Muslim is one that believes in the destruction of Israel and the conversion of America (and the world) to Islam through peaceful means (the Stealth Jihad), as well as violent ones.

But decide for yourself. Do not rely on US News sources on this, even Fox News…Read what is going on around the world, read the Arabic and Muslim news. You will be shocked at how blind Americans are on this issue.

It‘s not the one’s in muslim garb I worry about. It‘s the one’s not in muslim garb….remember the airport camera photo’s prior to 911. No muslim garb was being worn.

Absolutely Jaun seems to truly believe the positions he takes and has at least a little common sense. He is certainly a civil and respectful gentleman. The only problem is that the left is wrong. It fails everywhere. Just look across the country, anywhere the left is in charge you have a complete disaster both economically and socially. It really just comes down to the proverb … Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Liberals either just don’t get it or they want to keep people dependant on them.

Williams typically chaps my hide with his illogical leftist rhetoric. However, I have to give him credit on this one. Anyone who doesn’t get nervous when muslims get on their plan is either lying, a muslim themselves, or in denial/insane.

I‘ve got more respect for Juan I believe than any Liberal I’ve ever seen or heard. He hasn’t sold out his soul for an ideology against all facts. He doesn’t just follow the Lemmings at every command. I was more impressed with his agreement to the fact that it’s not just a tiny fraction, but there is a problem across the entire globe wherever Muslims have established a footing and needs to be addressed.
Islam is not really a religion as much it is a Cult. It demands and dictates it’s followers to hold particular views and to participate in certain actions contrary to civilized societies. They cannot live peacefully side by side with ‘Infidels’. Creeping Sharia is the goal. Jihad is fought on two fronts. Active terrorism and the infiltration of political and judicial systems within a nation. No such thing as ‘Moderate Muslims’. Observe what’s happening in Europe or Canada.

Sometimes bigotry and truth walk hand in hand. It is what it is. Its like trying to address illegal immagration and not mention hispanics. Cant be done. Is it racist? Well, it sure is about a race of people. Is it incorrect? No. Does it make me racist? If you say so, but the facts are what they are. To look away and say nothing so as not to hurt someones feeling makes you are a fool.

You guys are all wrong. People who would dress in that attire would not hijack a plane. They would try to look as normal as possible. Over 5,000 of you are worrying about the wrong man/woman on the plane… such a pity.

I like Juan and most of the time He makes sense. He is like Colin Powell when it comes to Obama. He defendes Him more because of the Black thing. I wish He could see it. I know He will when Obama is gone. It might take 2 or 3 year, but He will see it no matter who wins.
