‘Whatever’: Greta Confronts Santorum Over ‘Crazy’ Supporter & His Sex Joke

Santorum Responds to Foster Friesss Aspirin Joke to Greta Van SusterenThe political news yesterday was dominated by Santorum supporter Foster Friess and his awkward sex joke on MSNBC involving aspirin. You can watch it here. And now, Rick Santorum is being forced to answer for it. Fox’s Greta Van Susteren was the first to take the GOP frontrunner to task last night. And in a sense, he wasn’t having it.

“Alright, now I know you certainly didn’t say that– okay, you shake your head,” she said as Santorum started doing just that after Van Susteren played the audio. “Alright, you want to say something about it.”

“Look,” said Santorum, “I‘m not going to be responsible for everybody who’s– any supporter of mine and what they say. I’m not going to play that game.”

After a disgusted Van Susteren went on to call Friess “creepy” and asked if Santorum would correct Friess, Santorum elaborated.

“Foster is known in political circles as telling a lot of jokes and some of them are not particularly funny, this one was not,” he said. “He is not creepy. he is a good man, a great philanthropist, a very successful businessman. Told a bad off-color joke and he shouldn’t have done it. That is his business. It doesn’t, in my opinion, reflect on the campaign or me because he wasn’t doing it as part of our campaign.”

“Whatever,” responded Van Susteren, after correcting herself that the joke was creepy and not Friess himself. “I don’t know, the only thing I know is what he said. Right now, he is 0 and 1 with me.”

Santorum concluded: “It was a stupid joke.”

In the purpose of vetting everyone needs to know that Santorum:

      1990 –
      1. wasn’t always a stop opponent of abortion, he use to be fine with abortions up to the last 3 months of a pregnancy.
      2. he called himself a ‘progressive conservative and not a ’Reagan Conservative’
      3. Raised the minimum wage 6 times and debt ceiling 5 times.
      4. Has pushed big government legislation, especially during the Bush administration.
      5. He wasn’t for an individual mandate but he was for an employer mandate to provide health care for workers even though they layoff.
      6. In his Congressional run, Santorum used the tactics that he whines about, negative campaigning, winning him his first campaign.

Does this disqualify him, no. These are things people need to know about as part of vetting and yet this is only after a few days after becoming frontrunner. There is probably more to come out soon.

      VET ALL OF OUR CANDIDATES….

      MS-GLENNBC,

What is worse, our current law where we, the taxpayers, pay for freeloaders. That is a European Social Nanny state. Romney had a problem of this current socialistic plan and yes had a mandate that you either ‘Pay your own insurance, or pay your own bill’ but he asked them to by Private, Deregulate, health insurance in a free-market controlled exchange. That is in line with the Tea Party. Personal Responsibility and Free-Market solutions. Sadly the legislature changed the mandate to buy insurance or get a fine. They also put in an employer mandate, which Santorum supported, and Romney vetoed.

      MS-GLENNBC,

Yes and Romney was talking the truth when he said he had some progressive views, remember he wanted government out of our choice of abortions, that is a libertarian view. Then he changed it when he had a bill put in front of him, much like Reagan, except Reagan signed it and automatically regretted it. Romney made the choice not to allow further pro-choice decisions before throwing the bill away.

He never called himself a Progressive, but that just shows that Gingrich, Santorum, and Romney are all in the same boat on that topic.

      TRUTHBELIEVER2,

Why don‘t you and I’ll set you straight.

RomneyCare and TARP are the only ones I can think of.
      1. RomneyCare, Romney was trying to create a free-market exchange deregulating the industry. Sadly he put in a mandate, but his mandate edged on Libertarianism “Pay for your own insurance, or pay your own bill.” The govt is not going to bail you out anymore. Sadly the medicaid office won’t allow someone to go untreated so then you leave it how it is or make everyone responsible for yourself. What would you rather have a European Nanny state like we have right now where everyone else pays for those who don’t want to, or a mandate that everyone buys private insurance, not government insurance. I personally would like another way, such as pay or take care of yourself, but no one has come up with a better option. FYI: HSA Health Savings Accounts were a crucial part of Romney’s plan, but don’t solve the problem.

TARP: The funds were not to bailout the banks, they were to keep the dollar affloat. Remember ‘It’s a wonderful life” If everyone made a run on the banks, they would go down destroying the dollar, a tactic George Soros would have loved and made billions off of. Bailouts were wrong, agreed, they were different under Bush though than Obama and that is where Romney has spoken out against. Romney was the most outspoken against all other bailouts. Gingrich said he would have voted for it, Santorum endorses Specter who voted for all bailouts and Oba

Ok here goes. I found one video on youtube that covers tons of Romney’s liberal stances. Signed off with Planned Parenthood on Roe v. Wade. TARP which you mentioned. The Stimulus Package. Romney Care you mentioned, which also paid for abortions with tax payer dollars. He believes in man made climate change, just like Obama. He does not believe in the American’s right to keep and bear arms in the defense of an over powerful government: “that’s silly in the world we live in today” He wants amnesty for illegals.

Just by watching this one video I can see that if Romney would have been elected in Obama’s place, he would have made many of the same moves Obama has. And now that Obama‘s and Romney’s ways have fallen out of touch with America he can flip flop around on his ideals to gain popularity with Republicans who have no idea what a Rhino is…

I used to like Greta, but this is nothing for her to make a deal about. This is a saying I’ve heard most of my memory. You know Greta, back in the days when most young people had morals because their parents reminded them not to get too frisky and keep their knees together. Now days, the parents don‘t bother to teach morals because it’s easier for kids to take pills and just let them get it on. Then comes all the diseases and cancer. Some of us do put morals first, not the illicit sex, which really isn‘t that wonderful with a person you don’t intend to marry.

Greta has the smarts and the age to know that the joke in question is a hoary old chestnut. Her “creepy” remark betrays political bias. Assuming she is not for Obama, she probably is a Romney rooter, thus trying to do her part to advance the cause of Mitt by tripping up Rick. Her reporting has always been a bit creepy in itself, as she obsesses for weeks at a time over the details of the latest sensational crime. To be charitable, she may have been unable to help herself as the botox has a way of letting words slip out with no muscles left to stop them. Maybe she and Pelosi had the same doctor.

Disagree. The “creepy” refers to creepy old guys (or young for that matter!) that have primitive attitudes toward women that relegate women to cave life. The “pill between their knees” comment also relegates all birth control to the women’s responsibility alone, while men have no responsibility.

Not to mention rape. Gues Foster Friess never heard of men who FORCE their wives, girlfriends and strangers to have sex.

I love my Dad but he tells the same “joke” (“the best birth control pill is the one the woman holds between her knees”), which makes my skin crawl. It is insulting to ALL WOMEN and shows complete sexual ignorance.

Foster Friess is a huge donor to Santorum and should conduct himself as someone in the public light, not like a codger in a backroom bar.

I heard this “joke” probably 30-40 years ago. It really wasn’t that funny then either. I do respect Santorum for NOT throwing this guy under bus nor did he attempt to race to the supposed high ground and try to get some mileage out of it. Normally political high ground is really just sand and often just quick sand resulting in a later collapse.
I also don’t think that Van Susteren really did that bad of job on the interview as it was really not that confrontational nor were they all softballs either.Often the other reporters and at times the Fox reporters, appear to allow their colors to show more when interviewing the candidate. Honest and hard questions help the candidate look good in the eyes of an honest voter if the candidates are on the right side of the issue.
Those voters who are looking for someone to agree with them are seldom influenced by the facts. They want their guy to look good or they are going to bash the interviewer.

I predict if Santorum is nominee, he will not get more than 30% in the general election, unless he picks a seriously good running mate, then he may break the 40% mark.

Who Cares !!! For the “educated” liberals that missed the point. What the man was saying is that in his day, women waited. Women weren’t as promiscuous as they are today.
Liberals always make a big deal about things like this because they want to redirect from the real issues that Obama has failed at. Therefore they use these as “gotcha” moments to cosume the news.
Santorum doesn’t need to apologize for this guy. Liberals all of a sudden become prudes, yet they can be the most vile creatures on the Planet. Maxine Waters called Republicans, “Demons” and the Left Wing Media doesn’t care.

Wow, unflattering things about women? Like what? We need to all wake up and stop being so damn PC on everything and be freaking adults. Abortion causes a number of negative side effects. The pill causes side effects. The Bayer aspirin, no side effects. Too off color for you? Hows this, keep your legs closed until you get married. Now concentrate on the real issues of the day. And yea, lets get Ron Paul in, and watch the middle east burn down then come for us while he drools all over himself. LOL. Rick is the best choice on our side folks.

Amen Brother!!! Why in the heck does the Catholic church need to pay for something that the liberals have fought so hard to make affordable through Planned Parenthood. Can’t have your cake and eat too on this one folks. This has absolutely nothing to do with Women’s rights and I frankly am appauled and insulted that they are using my health to attach freedom so blatantly. Don’t you hide behind me!!!! Anyway, Santorum is the only one out there talking about things like freedom and what it means and the differences between what they want and what we believe in. Romney wants to sugar coat everything and just make small tweeks to “fix” them, Gingrich can’t be trusted and Paul wants to bury ourselves in bunkers here and cut ourselves off from the rest of the world. If we want to be a part of the world economy and benefit from world markets we can’t just ignore the human responsilbities that sometimes arise to protect not only ourselves but our friends and partners as well. There needs to be BALANCE not extremes in either direction. BTW. I am a working woman, I totally agree with what Santorum and his wife said in their book about feminism and how they treat stay at home moms. They even pit us against each other to prevent us from being a force for good. Hmmmm where have I heard that tactic before? Isolate and demonize. Ahhh the Liberal and Democrat Saul Alinsky playbook. God please erradicate this evil from our great nation, PLEASE!!!!

He should be. It’s all subterfuge by the progressives. It keeps attention away from Obama’s failed policies and an unmanageble national debt.

Why arent we having hearings on the Constitutionality of the Welfare State too??

We all know Greta is her man & detest Mitt so I don’t mind her chastising Santorum as he has made not very flattering remarks about women. Obama would probably get 80% of the women’s vote with this guy.

The question is not about a joke Gonzo.
      It is not about contraceptives.
It is about the Constitutionality of giving people free things…

Oh wait…It’s in the Good and Plenty clause of the Constitution…my bad…Gee why didnt I see that before? I must be a racist homophobe woman hater…

It’s about religious freedom guaranteed by the Constitution! I‘m sick of conservatives letting them frame the conversation like it’s anything other than that! The joke was not even that “off color”!

I always knew Greta was a dim by the way she always fawns over the RINOs – her ideological bretheren. And whenever she interviews Kissinger… yuck! She practically makes googoo eyes at him. Anyone Big Gov/globalist Greta greatly admires. She’s also quite smitten with Lindsey Graham.
