‘When Women Got the Right to Vote…’: Rush Limbaugh Sets Trap for Outraged Liberals

Ever since the controversy surrounding his comments comparing Georgetown University Law Student Sandra Fluke to a lady of questionable virtue, Leftists have been trying to make Rush Limbaugh the poster child of enduring sexism in American public life. So far, it hasn’t worked, and much to the despair of his detractors at Media Matters, Limbaugh has recovered from that particular bit of controversy.

In fact, so great has Limbaugh’s recovery been that he is now openly taunting his former critics on his show by making obviously joking, but still highly controversial statements about gender politics, with the express intent of seeing which liberal critics will take the bait. Limbaugh fired an opening salvo in this regard today when one caller called in to complain about the problem of 18 year olds having the right to vote. Limbaugh, without missing a beat, fired back:

“I can do one better than that. When women got the right to vote’s when it all went downhill,” Limbaugh said. “Because that’s when votes started being cast with emotion and maternal instincts that government ought to reflect.”

Limbaugh later clarified that this was purely a joke, but that those who found this line of reasoning persuasive could read Ann Coulter’s arguments on the subject (For those in Rio Linda, as Limbaugh might say, Coulter is herself a woman). So why did Limbaugh make this remark if he doesn’t believe it? Simple – to see which liberals would pick it up and run with it. The Daily Rushbo, which cut the clip, makes this explicit:

Limbaugh said this while responding to a caller about Obamacare. Rush was clearly joking about this and also credited Ann Coulter with actually having written it. But let’s just sit back and see if the Libs heads start spinning over this joke.

      I usually have either Marl Levine or Glenn Beck on my radio real loud when I get gas. I have had a number of occasions when someone came up to me and asked who that was on the radio cause they sure were making a whole lot of sense.That’s when I give them the station and times to listen, normally if I get the chance to meet them again they thank me and we discuss the current events and how we can change them. Most have passed on the radio stations and times to their friends. Good stuff if you want to listen and make a change.

      I do the same thing, I always blare Rush, Glenn or Schnitt (the local AM personality). I’ve never actually gotten more than an annoyed look, I‘m 6’4″ 240 but wouldn’t hurt a fly, I just think my size is intimidating.

      As for the comment by exrepublisheep, I see that you say someone should kill GB because that kind of language has already been proven to be protected. Let‘s see you actually say you’ll do the killing, I dare say you don’t have the testicular fortitude to utter such a dumb statement.

      I actually enjoy listening to some of Rush’s zingers. He’s clever, that is for certain, and he has a way with words. No surprise at his popularity. He has a gift for appealing to the ignorant who take his words at face value. And, yes, he makes money by making controversial statements, outrageous statements, such as saying President Obama loved Osama Bin Laden and loves all terrorists. Whatever. Palin and Allen West among others have adopted that strategy.

      But this idea that he can make misogynistic or racist statements and then claim he’s “baiting” the left is really old. That’s always been his claim, for years now whenever he gets called out. Have you every felt really insulted by someone and when you didn’t laugh they said, “I was just joking” when you know they weren’t “just joking?” Seriously think about it. When someone make you feel bad with a comment, and then they say “I’m just joking” did you buy it? Of course not. Because you know they weren’t “just joking.”

      That’s what all abusive people who hate you or hate women or hate minorities or hate poor people or hate whomever say when they make hurtful remarks: “I was joking.” Yeah, sure your were. And so were all your “jokes” about blacks and Mexicans and retarded people. It’s a joke, get it? I’m just poking the left, get it?

      Sure, we “get it” Rush.

      JZS is a Limbaugh wanna be. Rush is a master of rhetorical devices and JZS’s pure rhetorical posts fall short of his master. Although, he could definitely give Sean Hannity a run for his money. But that’s not setting the bar very high. Sean has trouble making sound arguments even when the producers tee it up for him. And he generally uses the same rhetoric over and over kinda like JZS. Sean appeals to the lowest common denominator and his ratings stay high because many liberals listen. They like to yell at the radio and feel smart because Hannity can’t make a good argument. Some of the rhetoric on Hannity and Limbaugh‘s show target people like JZS because it’s a business and more listeners mean more revenue. I suspect JZS is a faithful listener to both.

      What is interesting is how JZS whines about those who label the Muslim population negatively based off a tiny fraction of Muslim extremist then does the same with global warming.

      The thermometer is 288 years old and the earth age according to science is roughly 4.54 Billion. So despite having record of .00000634% or less of the earth’s temperatures, he wants us to believe that microscopic sliver of a fraction serves as a representative picture of the earth’s temperature cycles.

      As always, anyone who expresses concern with the validity of the GW debate, despite being over before it began, is uneducated.

      For example, when you hear that we just broke temp records that have been in place for over 100 years and ask, “What made it so hot over 100 years ago, it certainly wasn’t man,” you are uneducated.

      If you wonder why Al Gore has a house on the beach, an electric bill that runs 30k a year, flies on private jets, keeps a limo running with A/C on for hours during speaking engagements while expressing concerns of rising seas and mans carbon emissions destroying the planet, you are uneducated.

      If you wonder why we were told our children wouldn’t know what snow was only to be told that extreme snowstorms were cause by global warming, you are uneducated.

      The good news about the GW debate is we will know if JZS and Al Gore are right in a few years. The bad news is, if there right, the earth will be destroyed.

      If Rush’s opinion was as important as he thinks it is, our nation would not be on the verge of socialism.
      How many years has he been on the air preaching conservatism?…and where are we today?
      Liberals need not fear Rush because his bobble-head, couch potato listeners will never get off their back-side, elect conservative politicians, and hold their feet to the fire so they don’t become RINOs when they get to Washington.
      Rush may upset liberals, but they know he has no real influence in Washington.

      In my early years I was given a little bit of advice. “Listen to everyone even if you know, or think, they are wrong you learn more and make better decisions”! That little bit of advice came to me from a guy that didn’t finish high school, luckly I took that advice which made me a very good living. Even Ron Paul has his good points.

      Soy, you really don’t listen to him much do you. He was all over G.W., Rush never gave him any sort of free pass. He has never been a shill for the party, but rather an ardent supporter of- dare I say it- the Constitution, Freedom and Liberty. I started listening to him the summer I was 17 and my car with f.m. radio broke down and two my younger siblings had to drive an old beater to work everyday. (Manual farm labor, it builds character.) The only thing worth listening to on our way home was Rush. No, I am not a “Rushbot” but I do give him a lot of credit for my education. He articulated so well what I already knew to be true. 21-years ago this summer I am thankful that there is no graduation, only continuing education from the EIB network.

Rush isn‘t funny and he isn’t joking. He really doesn’t like women or the company of women. But that’s okay, women don’t much like Rush, either. We’re only a third of his audience. The average Dittohead is a 50 year old White guy with an income between $50,000-100,000 and some college. I happen to enjoy being barefoot indoors, but I didn’t raise a hand to cook dinner tonight.

      I would say that Rush often quips “tongue in cheek”. Which I find entertaining. I love his intelligent, honest, and truthful remarks. My husband loves his message, but hates his style. I just ignore the style…and listen to the message.

      A lot of women do operate in the emotional, dreamy realm. And so do many men. They can deny this fact if they want…but it’s true. I’ll never forget my mother not voting for Reagan…because he was an actor…she said he was just acting. I was surprised that my mother could be that stupid.

      Ann Coulter is awesome…she’s one of the few women who actually thinks, and has the courage to speak out truthfully about serious issues.

      Some women do appear to be slaves to emotion. Certainly not all women. How can anyone possibly think that Obama is good looking? I think he’s a skinny, spoiled, ugly dumbo. His wife does remind me of an ape. Not because she is black…but because of her unusually long arms, and just something about her face. Call it like you see it. If that is racist…then I’m racist.     The absolute vast majority of ‘single’ women vote emotionally and not intellectually.
    Hence the elections of Kennedy (72%) Carter (65%) Clinton (69%) and Obama (71%).

      Well if none of the Lib commentators went after him on this woman remark as slanderous… then they all took the bait by not responding. They proved themselves to be selective on when they choose to defend a subject matter. They enflame fantasies about Rush hating women one week, ignoring the facts and pretend he’s not married (gasp) to a woman.

    Rush is right it is a historical fact and can be proven if you simply study history and those who have know it … those who don’t deny it and cry sexism like the idiotic fools they are.

    In general, and their are magnificent exceptions to the rule.
    Women always lead the decline of a nation whenever they seek to control it.
    Women always make a nation great when they focus on they focus on their families.
