Blake Griffin, the NBA all-star from the Los Angeles Clippers, has been rattling rims with his massive dunks ever since he entered the NBA a few years ago. On Monday, he showed why with a near earth-shattering throw-down over Kendrick Perkins. Some have even dubbed it an early leader for “dunk of the year.” But now the question is: where does it rank all time?
That’s the question the Washington Post is asking, and it’s not only giving you the ability to vote on it, it’s also offering you video of all the candidates.
The list includes Griffin, Dwayne Wade, Michael Jordan, and Dr. J. You can watch some of them below, then go to WaPo to vote.
First, this is Griffin’s monster:
Dwayne Wade also threw down over Perkins:
But what about Jordan’s slam over Patrick Ewing?
Or Dr. J and his “Rock the Baby?”
There are a few others over at WaPo, including Vince Carter’s jam during the Sydney Olympics. Take a look and then vote on your favorite (hint: the current leader might not be who you think).

How about my Sixers beating those Bulls tonight?

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 9:53amWhile I don’t personally care for Lebron James, his dunk a few nights ago was better than Blake’s (IMO). And did anyone even notice Dr. J’s traveling before his dunk?!?! While it was a phenomenal play, it still was technically wrong.
Report Post »Maybe it’s because my daughter plays basketball (and ESPN is ALWAYS on in my house), but I find women’s college basketball much more appealing to watch.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 11:44amThey call the rules more closely in women’s basketball for sure, but that’s only because the game is considerably slower and easier to call. Women’s ball is definately a more true representation of the game of basketball, but more appealing? No not really.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 2:23pmI totally agree Lebron’s dunk was better.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 9:32amThe Doctor had the best dunks. Everyone else were just want a bees after the Doc. That dunk by blake was good but to insinuate consideration of all time???? Really. But I will tell you one of the nastiest ever was AI’s one handed put back dunk off a missed shot against the raptors. The little guy rose over dudes and took the missed shot and slammed it down in traffic. Just nasty for a little guy.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 9:55amHard to say which is the very best, but this one was unique in that his body is so far away from the basket and so high that his arm is horizontal with the basket as the shot goes down. He did use Perkins as a ladder to get the last couple of inches, but still it was amazing.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 8:45amthe powers to be saw to it that the reffs no longer actually enforce the rules of basketball. Watch the clips of Jordan and other high flyers, and tell me that they did not travel. This guys take three and four steps prior to dunking, and never get called for traveling. They also saw fit to see that anyone near Jordan was called for a fowel, and how often did you ever see him get called for charging. They had to bend the rules to allow the antics. Basketball is a big thug showplace. If you want to see the sport played correctly, watch college womens ball

The BEST DUNK to date and you have to take into consideration of the DEFENDERS HEIGHT which makes it all the more impressive..
