Where Is the IAEA? We Know They Are Not on the Ground in Japan

The International Atomic Energy Agency or IAEA was often mentioned in news stories about nuclear problems around the world.  The UN controlled agency has been strangely invisible. Oh sure, they have a web site with updates, but so does The Blaze.

MIT’s Jim Walsh, an International Security Analyst has been a frequent guest on CNN lately. This morning he wondered aloud about the lack of IAEA involvement in what is now a very global concern.

    Maybe the IAEA ought to be thinking about the wisdom of locating Bushehr at the juncture of 3 tectonic plates!!! Now, there is a compelling reason NOT to place this Iranian reactor in service!!! By the way, every time google-map Bushehr, I cannot find the transmission lines, which leads me to belive that all the power generated is being used on-site–go figure!!!

    Looks to me like the folks who run the place are HEROICALLY being RESPONSIBLE for dealing with this! Unless someone from IAEA wants to suit up and crawl into a dark place that has already blown up and is HOT with radiation to aim a little trickle of water from a fire hose onto a pool four stories up, in the dark, they best ‘help’ by staying in their offices and maintaining their web site. Once this gets under control, the post-mortem studies will be worth their weight in gold for the population of the World! Meanwhile, those closest to the problem have stayed on station and continue to exhibit the courage and tenacity the Japanese are known for at great peril to themselves–this WILL have a positive outcome!!!

    @Chuck – Love it!

    You would think we could just send someone to help measure and verify results and applaud them for how well they’ve handled this so far?

    I am a bit stunned at the ‘no matter how bad things are, we can always find a way it MIGHT GET WORSE Never mind supporting the incredible effort to manage this tragedy, BE AFRAID.’ A sad mindset, indeed!

      Complete agreement there, just another monstrosity forced upon the world and now seeking to rob all the wealthy countries of their fortunes to “spread the wealth’ to the poorer countries; while, of course, the UN will control the money they get ahold of, straight into their own pockets.

      Ironically, the head of the IAEA is Japanese.

      The UN is a JOKE! It’s past time to cut ties with that “organization”, three-quarters of the “nations” in it HATE THE USA anyways!!! We don’t need “excess baggage”, we have got enough of our own problems to last for tens of years to come.
