Which Band Did Beck Say Called for ‘Revolution’ at Last Night’s Grammys?

Glenn Beck has been an admitted fan of the British band Muse for the last year. In fact, the group’s song “Uprising” was the inspiration for Beck’s 2010 radio show theme song. So it might come as a surprise that Beck opened his radio show on Monday warning that the group’s performance of “Uprising” at last night’s Grammy Awards was “a call for revolution” — and not a good one.
“The lyrics of this song are so unbelievably powerful and they are ‑‑ they are not going to degrade us anymore, they’re not going to ‑‑ they’re not going to shape us or anything else. It’s us,” Beck gushed initially. “We have the power.”
But while the group opened up their performance using one the Tea Party’s favorite images — the Gadsden flag — that didn’t last long. The flag was eventually replaced by a picture of British rioters attacking Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, a sign Beck said shows what the group is really advocating.
“At the end of this it shows Camilla and Prince Charles in the back of their Rolls Royce where they are trying to beat them and kill them in the streets. And it shows flames coming up in the video screens,” Beck said, before concluding, “you have basically a call for revolution by this group.”
In the end, he said, the Tea Party’s call for change is much different than calls for revolution across the world:
There are those that are calling for revolution and they are everywhere, and they are the Muslim extremists, they are the communist revolutionaries, they are the anarchists, and then you have the Tea Party movement. The Tea Party movement is not calling for revolution. The Tea Party movement is calling for a restoration.

I feel that we have been more than patient with our politicians, and just last week, a big number of Republicans, including at least one newly-elected war hero, voted to maintain the status quo of the Patriot Act. Did we vote in the wrong people? Beck himself has said that it isn’t the Democrats or the Republicans, that both parties are corrupt. So the Tea Party movement pushed new faces into the crowd. Did it help? Doesn’t look that way.
If things continue the way they are right now, the only option left may very well be a revolt by the Tea Party patriots. Look to MArch 19th for some signals.

Take a look at who is responsible for racism in America. Look at which party has been the party of civil rights. Here is a hint: NOT THE FREAKIN’ DEMOCRAPS.
Every civil rights act passed in America from the last 1880s was written by Republicans, and passed by Republicans. Democraps stood in the way every time. The Democraps are the ones who founded the KKK.
Until you learn your history, you can never be taken seriously. Those who know and understand US history are usually Republicans. Those who think they know history, got it from progressives and liberals. Two different sets of “history.” There is the actual truth, with documents, photos, etc. and then there is liberal/progressive history.
People who believe the liberal/progressive history say things like the Tea Party movement wants to bring back Jim Crowe laws. You jackwagon.

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 4:37pmYes, except the Republican Party of the 19th and early 20th century was the liberal party, and the Democratic Party of that time was the conservative party. I love facts too. No one is denying that the Democratic Party of that era was the party of Jim Crow. The entire south was a Democratic stronghold (Solid South); however, that area is now decidedly Republican. Read about the Southern Strategy. You’ll learn how around the mid-century, as the Democratic Party began to support the civil rights movement, the Republican Party moved in to pick up the anti-civil rights, white-conservative vote. The Republican Party, hence, became populated with conservatives while the Democratic Party became populated with liberals. The Republican and Democratic Parties of yesteryear are not the same entities that exist today.

At no point did I deny that the Republican Party of the 1860′s was against slavery. In fact, pretty much stated exactly that it was the Democatic Party of that era that was pro-Jim Crow and slavery. Yes, the Republican Party is the party of Lincoln. I can see; however, that you didn’t even bother to read or understand my point about the the shift in the political parties around the mid-20th century. You an ignore history all you want, but the South, which was once predomoinantly Democratic, is now predominatly Republican; the reason being that the Republican Party sought to capitalize on the Democratic Party’s shift in favor of the civil rights movement, by appealing to the white, conservative voters who were formerly Democratic but felt disenfranchised by their party’s shift. Any historian worth their salt would overwhelmingly support the fact that the two parties identities changed at that period of American history. You simply ignore history.

A fabrication developed to excuse the racism inherent on the left. As long as you keep the minorities on a short leash, begging for the crumbs that fall from your table, you feel justified in your whitewashing of history. I will reiterate, facts are facts. Is there any difference in your mind between an uprising against progressive facism, and the
American Consitution?
If there is – that explains Becks reaction – and yours as well.

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 4:01pmHave most of you gone mad? I‘m reading all these post’s and I cringe at all the hatred. We are supposed to be adults but I would venture a guess that it’s been decades since adults were a majority in this country. I can’t wait until the lefties wake up, grow up and be honest with themselves. Start using the science that you claim to worship and follow the facts to their conclusion without trying to bend it to your beliefs. And while you at it perhaps you should stop throwing temper tantrum‘s when you don’t get your way. That goes for all those on the right who keep screaming for revolution. When you got opposite sides screaming for a war- a war you will have! Why don’t you all take a look at you children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and think real hard about the nightmare that you are bringing there way.
Report Post »To all you on the right side of the issues I have a suggestion. In truth the left is the minority, they always have been, but for the last 4 decades they have had the loudest microphones. Glenn is right when he says we need to keep peaceful. The left like to claim the peace mantel but the are easily the most violent, so let them be. Let them throw their fits and their firebombs, let the world see it, let your kids see it, use it as a learning experience. Tell your kids that this is what happens when adults have let the children rule, it always turns to chaos. Let’s make the choice to be adults and treat them as children DON”T stoop to there level and name call, just shame them, and tell them you feel sorry for them. I know we have a nightmare, economically, socially, spiritually as do most other nations on earth but we can‘t fix anyone else’s problems but our own. Let’s start by acting like adults shall we?

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 4:14pm“Uprising” does not mean “revolution”. Sorry!
…and I wonder how much the band had to do with the imagery used. The Grammy’s after all, are a product of Hollywood. I think Glenn needs to take a closer look before passing judgment.
If one watches the official music video for this song, you see a fuse burning, but nothing comes of it. Destruction comes int he form of soft, cuddly teddy bears. Amongst confusing imagery of the band playing in the back of a pickup truck continuously swapped with the band playing in a burning trailer, there is a scene where the group walks past a windowfront filled with televisions, each showing the “talking heads” of teddy bears and one band member loses his temper and breaks the window with a guitar. The other members, rather than join in the destruction or shake their fists in rage instead reach out to him reassuringly to calm and comfort him. Obviously NOT the same message as the Grammy performance!

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 4:48pmUprising was celebrating revolution in general. Muse isn’t in on some international conspiracy, if that were true, YOU BETTER WATCH OUT FOR EVERY LIBERAL OR DEMOCRAT, because they‘re commin’ ta getcha!

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 5:43pmI don‘t think Glenn ’just’ got it middleclassprofit I believe it was just a matter of short-sightedness on Muse‘s part like so many of my friends who think it’s over now in Egypt or that revolution is the answer when you have nothing concrete to establish or re-establish like the Tea Party is calling for, a restoration, a return to the Constitution as it was written (in plain english I’ve heard…cough. cough!).

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 5:43pmI used to love the Alice Cooper song Dead Babies, because of the beat and the ease of singing along. I realized the lyrics I was singing and was revolted. I am ashamed to even say it now. I was only 17-18 yrs old at the time.

Alex Jones regularly uses the instrumental from this song on his radio show segments…

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 9:22pmI hate it when actors and singers use their platform to spread messages of hate and violence. I mean isn’t it somewhat hypocritical to sing a song that puts down rich people when their main goal in life is to get rich. I am so sick of the progressive know-it-alls who don’t have a clue of what is really going on because they have NO common sense!

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 3:53amRestoration YES, Revolution NO. All Americans who believe in our Constitution have no desire to tear down anything. We simply want to restore our nation to it’s former glory when right was right and wrong was wrong. We oppose Barack Obama’s idea of a fundamental transformation of America that has Marxist/ Communist overtones or ideology. If we wanted to live in a utopian/communist society there are plenty to choose from already, but none have risen to the expectations of their founders and followers and none ever will.

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 7:07amSorry, 15th. I can’t ignore the bad behavior of my children. I have to correct them. Period. We’re supposed to point at the liberals as bad behavior but not correct them because they are in the minority? So bad behavior is okay as long as not enough of you believe it? Wow! Bad behavior is not subjective. What if 20% of the population thought we should kill all the males in their area? I think this is a very bad idea, BUT, should we simply point out to our kids what a learning experience it is, or should we stop it? What if the 20% decided dogs were an abomination to God? In the spirit of let them do their thing, I guess all dogs would be erased. AT WHAT POINT DO YOU CORRECT YOUR CHILDREN? Either make a stand or fade to the background.

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 9:34amThe song is too mainstream, sounds like Billy Idol with the edge taken off. But I’m not into pop… I like “progressive” rock! LOL, isn’t that ironic, I can’t stand “progressive” politics. But anyway I seriously doubt that anyone is going to start a revolution because they listened to this song. You have to be motivated by something more powerful. If a rock/pop band wants to sing about current events, that’s fine. Most of the music/musicians I like, I can’t stand their politics. Take Les Claypool, I get sick of his politics but he’s still a great artist IMO. Oh well, hey middleclass, I hope you have one of those old IBM keyboards that weigh 25 lbs. I’d hate for you to break it and not be able to type, we need you trolls on here to get us angry tea partiers riled up.
