Which Liberal Billionaire Has Ties To Over 30 News Outlets? George Soros

Fox News has just published part one of a two-part series on George Soros and his influence on the media. Part one, excerpted below, points out Soros’s ties to over 30 news outlets, including ABC, where Christine Amanpour sits on a board that “takes Soros cash:”

When liberal investor George Soros gave $1.8 million to National Public Radio, it became part of the firestorm of controversy that jeopardized NPR’s federal funding. But that gift only hints at the widespread influence the controversial billionaire has on the mainstream media. Soros, who spent $27 million trying to defeat President Bush in 2004, has ties to more than 30 mainstream news outlets – including The New York Times, Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC and ABC.

Prominent journalists like ABC’s Christiane Amanpour and former Washington Post editor and now Vice President Len Downie serve on boards of operations that take Soros cash. This despite the Society of Professional Journalists’ ethical code stating: “avoid all conflicts real or perceived.”

This information is part of an upcoming report by the Media Research Centers Business & Media Institute which has been looking into George Soros and his influence on the media.

The investigative reporting start-up ProPublica is a prime example. ProPublica, which recently won its second Pulitzer Prize, initially was given millions of dollars from the Sandler Foundation to “strengthen the progressive infrastructure” – “progressive” being the code word for very liberal. In 2010, it also received a two-year contribution of $125,000 each year from the Open Society Foundations. In case you wonder where that money comes from, the OSF website is www.soros.org. It is a network of more than 30 international foundations, mostly funded by Soros, who has contributed more than $8 billion to those efforts.

One more thing: a 14-person Journalism Advisory Board, stacked with CNN’s David Gergen and representatives from top newspapers, a former publisher of The Wall Street Journal and the editor-in-chief of Simon & Schuster. Several are working journalists, including:

• Jill Abramson, a managing editor of The New York Times;

• Kerry Smith, the senior vice president for editorial quality of ABC News;

• Cynthia A. Tucker, the editor of the editorial page of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

    Why are private news outlets (read corporations) like ABC taking any private money at all? If their news departments can’t make the cash in the free market, then maybe getting back to straight-up ethical journalism is in order. Nah–no conflicts of interest here…

    George Soros has made several statements in the last several months about his dissatisfaction with President Obama. I wonder if he could be involved in setting up the taking down of Osama Bin Laden, which is appearing to be a hoax according to foreign press (CNTV) and interviews with local residents of Abbottabad. The photos distributed by our Dept of Defense of Osama have already been debunked as hoaxes with the pic of the elderly man watching tv being identified as Akbar Khan. Was this man murdered by mistake in a botched up mistake of bad intel? Did our administration use our military in a mission to help get Obama re0elected? Will anyone in our administration be accountable for this?

    Expect a response from the left citing the Koch Brothers’ involvement in conservative politics. Interesting that the Koch Bros. popped up on the left’s radar when the spotlight was focused on Soros. Their reach and affect are minuscule by comparison to that of Soros’ and his many, many, many tentacles.

      I have had that conversation with people on fb. I cannot believe the ignorance of some people, they want the government hand outs. I wasn’t raised that way. My grandparents came here from Norway, worked hard, grandpa built their house, and raised 3 children plus 2 adopted. Never once did they take government hand outs. Shame on the fools who think it is right of the government to take over their lives.

    What I think needs to be exposed to the nation by Conservative talk show hosts or Conservative outlets of any kind is that they will live in the resulting world that they are creating in the name of Progress.     Soros was a Jew “adopted” to hide his background, by a German family who’s father went house-to-house seizing Jewish property…young Georgie recounts his childhood…doing this with his adoptive father “the happiest years in his life”. So…George Soros is “happiest” when he is financially ruining people and sending them to their deaths…I think that is a pretty good profile of a person that I would label “evil”.

      The real information gatekeepers are scattered on the Net, not these traditional sources. We should increase the Net sources with blogs and stories with reader responses like The Blaze. The linear format, however, should be changed to cloud with many dimensions of information available at the same time. This would make it possible to make unique and insightful connections of narratives and ideas.

      What are the rules for limiting what one can donate to any one candidate? And does it add up if you spread it around to different outlets? I know Obama got around this by bundling the money in $2000 increments and choosing a name to say they sent the donation. I wonder how much they paid the people for using their name?

      Folks need to hammer Congress for an official investigation into “the don” Soros. His actions make him a legitimate enemy of the state, since he is a US citizen under Article 3 Section 3 of the Constitution. Congress needs only to look at what he has done to other nations (England, Russia, Malaysia, Georgia) to see the map or blueprint for what he is doing here, to in fact collapse our financial system. He cannot hide financial transactions/ trades. It is all there right out in the open for our elected leaders to see.       There HAS to be some law that prevents a majority stockholder in news outlets.
      If not – there should be one.

      This is insane that we allow ONE person with an agenda to monopolize the media outlets.
      NOBODY should be able to buy power like that.

      If it IS legal – then we need to work towards making it ILLEGAL

      If it IS legal – then STOP BUYING THE STUFF THEY ADVERTISE on these stations.
      (There should be a list so we can collectively boycott the advertisers on these stations)

      Personally – I bought a washer the other day and I was given a choice between Amana and GE.
      I would never buy a GE product if my life depended on it. (because it just might)

      mr sorros needs to be on every americans hit list.. this man is useing his money(robbed from us most likely) to buy influence and sell his lies. this man must be brought down along with his henchmen. are we americans or are we not? i for one refuse to lay down for these criminals. its about time we started acting like americans and do what we gotta do to save this country from these skum…..as long as im alive i will never surrender to this and any of you who do are NOT americans your cowards!
