NEW YORK (AP) — Sonia Sotomayor traded benches for a day, joining the New York Yankees’ Bleacher Creatures.
The Supreme Court justice and Bronx native attended the Yankees’ game against Baltimore on Wednesday and sat in Section 203 of the right-field stands for the first-inning “Roll Call” of New York’s starting lineup.
Usually seen on the Supreme Court bench next to Stephen Breyer, she sat next to “Bald Vinny” Milano in a section where tickets cost $20 and $23.
“The first thing I said to her was, ‘I’m probably going to be the loudest guy you meet today, but I’m absolutely speechless,’” Milano said. “I don’t think she knew before she got here what she was in for.”
The Yankees said Sotomayor moved to better seats after Roll Call. She also attended the Yankees’ game at the Washington Nationals on June 15. Before that, she threw out the ceremonial first pitch for a game against Boston at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 26, 2009.
In 1995 as a U.S. District Judge, she issued an injunction that led to the end of a 7 1-2 month strike by the baseball players’ union.
Milano, who lives in Bellmore, N.Y., gave her a Creatures lapel pin membership badge, which she said she will pass along to a nephew who collects her mementos in a scrap book.
“You never know,” Milano said, with a laugh. “She’s not a bad friend to have.”

Posted on August 2, 2012 at 2:53pmCome on Blazers, ease up a bit. At least the good Justice was doing something truly American for a change. Better her fanny be parked at Yankee Stadium than on the bench of the SCOTUS.
By the way did the Yanks win? I hope not. Peace.

Posted on August 2, 2012 at 6:36amYep…Some of the most obscure sports trivia questions .
Will only live in the most diehard of sports-fans head…
Just like the origin of this term ‘bleacher creature’ …
But a Supreme Court Justice attached to that nickname…
Has the potential of forever being….synonymous..!
Justice Sotomayor….
Or should I address you by your new ‘term of endearment’….
You walked right into that one ….And you only have yourself to blame.

Posted on August 2, 2012 at 1:40amHe implied handcuffs as in arrested. It was Robert’s not Thomas. Then it was implied that it might as well have been Thomas too but that would be incorrect because Thomas is strict conservative. Now I can go to bed.

Posted on August 2, 2012 at 1:01amIs there any means we can have her tossed out of the SCOTUS?
She is an activist justice, along with Justice Thomas who needs to go with both of the Obamamite justices. Get us three conservatives who will actually follow the law and the Constititution, instead of making the law up, as Thomas did when he caved into the pressure.

Because the way you say it, it sound as if you’re accusing him of having a smoking jacket, cognac and a fine cigar, while she’s being raped and brutally beaten in front of children in his foyer.
I do believe some of them that have thrown the liberty of this country under the bus, deserve to be in cuffs. The setting of which I could careless. And yes, I find their actions treasonous. They were elected to protect the people of this country, not to subvert the people to their own will.
