White House Adviser Defends Class Warfare by Citing Karl MarxBetween things like Anita Dunn’s professed love for Mao Tse-Tung and the not-controversy surrounding the president’s new campaign slogan (“Forward!”), we suspect White House staffers are getting awfully tired of responding to questions about whether the Obama administration employs at least a few communist-sympathizing officials.

Rick Bookstaber, who currently serves on President Obama’s Financial Stability Oversight Council, may have just kicked off another round of these questions.

Writing on his personal blog Monday, Boosktaber posted a refutation of conservative author Tucker Carlson’s claim that, by repeatedly singling out the “wealthy,” Democrats are waging “class warfare.”

“There is little that matches the artfulness of the rich in waving off criticism of the widening income gap as ‘class warfare,’” Bookstaber writes. “And there is little that matches the gullibility of the rest in following along.”

“I am not picking sides in this war,” he added, “but I believe such a war is justifiable, and indeed ultimately inevitable.”

Bookstaber continued:

During the industrial revolution class warfare centered on the length of the working day. A tightly defined working day only appeared with the advent of the industrial revolution. Before then laborers worked when they needed money, and then quit for a time once they fulfilled their needs. But regimentation and a dependable workforce became necessary once there was machinery to run and capital invested, and so with industrialization came the an enforced workday. So it is not surprising that Marx stated the central battle of class warfare at the time in terms of the working day:

The capitalist maintains his rights as a purchaser when he tries to make the working-day as long as possible, and to make, whenever possible, two working-days out of one. On the other hand, the peculiar nature of the commodity sold implies a limit to its consumption by the purchaser, and the laborer maintains his right as seller when he wishes to reduce the working-day to one of definite normal duration. There is here, therefore, an antinomy, right against right, both equally bearing the seal of the law of exchanges. Between equal rights force decides. Hence is it that in the history of capitalist production, the determination of what is a working-day, presents itself as the result of a struggle, a struggle between collective capital, i.e., the class of capitalists, and collective labour, i.e., the working-class. – Marx, Das Kapital

Karl Marx, of course, is most famously known as the father of communism. His political philosophy was adopted and implemented by infamous dictators — including Vladimir Lenin, Mao Tse-Tung, Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Min, Fidel Castro, and Che Gueverra — whose search for the perfect collectivist society led to the deaths of approximately 100 million people, according to the historian Stéphane Courtois.

    If this is their base thought process, then civil war is unavoidable. Its unfortunate a country founded on freedom, has slipped into this abyss. The two base core ideologies can not coexist. We can not be a country founded on natural human rights under a constitution, and simultaneously a country which employs theft as a solution to all problems. Make no mistake about it, taxes steal your money, which is your labor, which is directly proportional to time. THEY ARE STEALING YOUR TIME! Its core essence is nothing less than slavery.

      This country survived before the sixteenth amendment was improperly ratified and we can survive without it.There’s some interesting reading here,http://thelawthatneverwas.com It‘s the authors contention that the sixteenth amendment wasn’t properly ratified thus there is no law to allow for collection of federal income tax.

      Income taxes steal both time and money directly.

      At least with retail sales taxes, people have the option of not buying certain taxed items; and, no government agency will ask them to justify their choice to the best of their ability, by a set of complex rules that even the bureaucrats don’t fully understand, and signed under penalty of law.

      The Fair tax remains constitutionally valid even after the 16th Amendment get repealed.

      As far as yet another government official quoting, or otherwise touting, a famous communist: and what else is new?

      Divide & conquer has been a tactic for ever and will be the method of choice for this administration in this election. We are headed into a socialist style crony friend gov. if we get side tracked with this class divisiveness argument. The basis of Economics is Supply & Demand… where Capitalism is an Automated, Self Correcting, Market System, which uses Capital collected in Stocks & Banks to provide Financing to Businesses… whereas, Marx-attempts Dictate, via Leaders, what is to be Produced and at what Price, so the Government replaces Stock/Bank Functions.

      If you take Wealth away from the Rich, Stocks/Banks do not function, Businesses do not start nor expand, and Capitalism fails. On the other hand, Genius Leaders have never been found, and Marx-attempts always fail… but the Dream of Intellectuals being smarter than everyone else lives on… promising to take from the Rich and give to the Poor so that everyone can equally have every thing!

      But if everyone has Everything… there is no Rarity; there is no Value; and, there is no reason to Work and Produce… so there is no more Supply… and everyone Dies!

      Great post, Texas! I’ve been thinking about taxes in terms of slavery for some time, now.
      For the dope who thinks that this is about abolishing taxes, you couldn’t be further from the truth. It is about what is done with those taxes. The government takes our money under threat of prison. Because of this power that they have, they have a duty to take as little as possible, and to use it as judiciously as possible. When they take my taxes to provide a good or service that benifits an individual, rather than society at large, they make me a slave to that person.
      Think about Pell grants. I saved for the education of my children. They also got scholarships. When I am forced to help pay for the education of the children of others through my taxes, I am essentially placed in indentured servitude to that person.

      Pell grants weren’t originally created for normal students.It was created for those who were transitioning into other employment.It was created to allow people to get the skills an training to work at a job that actually pays them enough to survive.This prevents the welfare rolls[both personal and corporate]from swelling in compensation.It also was in response to diminished apprenticeships.What you once could do with a little training and many more years experience isn’t appreciated anymore.It now requires a degree.Don’t lambast the citizens lambast those who turned the system into this nightmare.Anything else and you run the risk of alienation those who would produce.Constantly telling them that they are welfare leeches simply because they have gotten a pell grant will backfire.They wouldn’t be going to school in order to get a job or a better one if they were leeches.
      Eventually those who are in this camp will begin to feel there rath.Its the type of wrath that may have some of you pinned to a tree with a knife.You see many of those will be those who have worked most of there lives and are stuck.Through no fault of their own.They don’t need you or any of the rest of the class warfare whores riding there backs.

      It is one thing to tax me to pay for my share of the benefits we receive from government — defense, infrastructure, reasonable regulation for my safety. It is quite another to steal from me to support someone else. That is putting the productive class in permanent bondage to the parasitic class. Why do some people think they are entitled to a “system” that provides work for them? They are lucky if some capitalist has set up an enterprise that provides them work, but they have no innate right to it.

I visited a communist country where we had talk in whisper, because the owner of his house was afraid that some “spy” would be suvailing his house with foreign visitors.     Kind of–it would be more accurate to say they were inspired by his writings. Marx left no specific political instructions, just made general socioeconomic observations. That‘s not to say he didn’t sympathize with the working class and aspired to a communist society, just to say that he never claimed to know HOW we would get from “here” (then) to “there.”

    There IS a class war–it was declared LONG ago by capitalists on the rest of society.

      I agree SNOWLEOPARD, I hope enough people understand the importance of this election and vote them out. Do you think it is possible that the election will go untainted or that we have a chance? Sometimes I worry that even if we have enough votes the election results will not show it or if there will be an election at all. These are dangerous times that lie ahead. I do not want violence but I do not think that we can stop it from occurring.And if there is a civil war in this country we will be sitting ducks for our enemies.

      That name caught my attention too. At first I thought that it may have been some Ellis Island high jinx, but I briefly looked it’s genealogy. Could not narrow down a single nation of origin but it does not mean what it sounds to us. Could come from the Quaran or even the Bible. As far as the United States goes, the name is found in all of New England, NY, NJ, DE, and MD.

      IF Obama wins reelection, I suspect it will go like this: In his acceptance speech, he will pull out the original constitution and bill of rights and urinate on them right on the capitol steps. If he wins reelection, he will have no speed limits, and 4 years to get rid of term limitations, personal rights, freedoms, and anyone who speaks against the gov’t.

      He will build an SS-style militia and we‘ll be hiding in attics like German Jews in the 30’s and 40′s.He’ll outlaw dissention and questions and guns etc.

      And most people will be too busy watching the Kardashians to notice the foot soldiers marching up to their front doors.

      As for me… I plan on taking as many of them with me as I can before the get me. (both the foot soldiers and the Kardashians…)
