White House Continues Cheering for Al Jazeera: ‘A Really Important Media Entity’

Hillary Clinton loves it. It seems to love the Muslim Brotherhood. And now Barack Obama seems to be a fan of it, too. What is “it?” The Middle Eastern cable news channel Al Jazeera.
In a lengthy article, Politico reveals that the once-demonized outlet during the Bush administration has become a favorite in the Obama White House. In fact, its programing is plastered all over Pennsylvania Avenue and Obama is singing its praises:
Seven years after then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld called the broadcaster’s reporting “vicious, inaccurate and inexcusable” and President George W. Bush joked about bombing it, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praised it as “real news” in her recent Senate testimony.
Not only that, her staffers, as well as those of the CIA and the Obama White House, were attending the Congressional Correspondents’ Dinner as Al-Jazeera’s guests.
“They are a really important media entity, and we have a really great relationship with them,” said Dana Shell Smith, the State Department’s deputy assistant secretary for international media engagement, who speaks Arabic and has frequently appeared on the channel. “This administration has empowered those of us who actually do the communicating to be in a close relationship with Al-Jazeera. They understand that the relationship can’t consist of complaining to each other about the differences we have.”
The differences also have shrunk as the big story in the Middle East has shifted from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the democratic movements sweeping the region. In the recent uprisings, U.S. interests tended to line up with Al-Jazeera’s, and President Barack Obama alluded to both the network’s influence and its pro-democracy bent in remarks caught on an open mic during a closed-door fundraiser last week.
“The emir of Qatar come by the Oval Office today, and he owns Al-Jazeera basically,” Obama said in remarks recorded by CBS News’s Mark Knoller. “Pretty influential guy. He is a big booster, big promoter of democracy all throughout the Middle East. Reform, reform, reform. You’re seeing it on Al-Jazeera.”

Today, when he visits the White House, officials tell him they watch AJE to monitor the protests, and at the State Department, “when you go down the hallway, you see it on virtually every TV and computer.”
That’s bad news, says Cliff Kincaid, director of the Accuracy in Media Center for Investigative Reporting and president of America’s Survival. He told Politico that Al Jazeera’s programming could put Americans at risk:
“To Comcast, and other cable and satellite providers, we say, do not expand Al-Jazeera throughout the U.S. Otherwise you will increase the chances of Americans being killed by those manipulated by ‘Jihad TV,’ the terrorist network, and you, Comcast, will have blood on your hands,” Kincaid told an audience of about 30 at the press club.

NOT reporting it would be. American soldiers kill civilians. Not every soldier, not all the time, but it happens quite often. American airstrikes miss their targets. Again, not every one, but it happens. American politicians lie and go back on their promises or are simply corrupt. Would you rather have someone who reports only the corrupt Democrats? Watch Fox. Would you rather have someone who reports only the corrupt Republicans? Watch MSNBC or what have you. Or would you actually like to be informed about the whole story?
A good indicator of a good news network is both sides calling it slanted. An even better indicator would be the news network reporting both sides calling it slanted.
Al-J did just that when both Israel and Palestine accused them of being for the other side.

Look into the past for answers in part to Obama’s hatered for Israel; the area formerly known as the Palestinian protectorate was dominated by the English empire after WW1, and suppressed many of the arab’s seeking their own liberation; That is one part of his hatred of Israel, who he blames for being in existence due to both england and American recognition.

Why in the hell would we want to vote democrat??? The president is a pathological liar, hell bent on the destruction of the United States. The majority of the democrat party falls in line with this philosophy and is very open about race and class warfare, the enemies within the gates. They demonize oil companies and corporations which have brought modern industrialization and a higher standard of living than most of the world enjoys. Our retirement plans and 401k’s are invested in these same oil companies and corporations. They say they are working for the middle class and the poor but do everything possible to destroy them. They are either stupid or doing it deliberately. I have seen enough video of them, in their own words, to know it is deliberate. The dems embrace our enemies and shun our allies. The dems support the satanic religion of Islam and attack Jews and Christians. The dems have acted to destroy the US military through repeal of DADT over a immoral minority of 1.7% (gays in American society according to the demographer working for the US Census). This administration openly supports the racial discrimination of whitey, yet supports, defends, and encourages illegal immigration and reparations (social justice). This administration is acting outside of the constitution, outside the law, and in direct defiance of a federal judgment of the unconstitutionality of nobamacare, which was rammed down our throats in defiance of the will of the American people, 100% by the dems. If you like the boot of the federal government on your neck while they steal your wallet from your back pocket, vote democrat… thieves, thugs, and liars. What we need is a Calvin Coolidge to cut the government and taxes by 50%. What we need is a president with enough balls to protect America and build an Israeli-like wall along our border with Mexico which is currently in a narco war spilling over into the US, and allowing terrorists to just walk in. What we need is to reset the country under GOD and within the confines of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. What we need is to eliminate the influence of the socialists and environmentalists in defense of the United States. Drill here, Drill now. If you dont like the US as it was founded, leave. France and the UK already have all the pitfalls the dems are trying to secure here. We used to kill commies on foreign battlefields. Now they serve in our government. Vote democrat??? I have configured my flag pole with the Christian flag on top saying we are one nation UNDER GOD and the USA flag upside down indicating our country is in critical distress. You would not believe the backlash I’m getting from people, but the again I’m getting lots of support. I would like opinions please.

Seriously, none here have actually watched Al-Jazeera. It’s like any other news channel in the USA only that it covers global events more thoroughly.

If I want to learn about an event I go to the local news outlets. It would be unconscionable for the White House staff charged with monitoring and gathering intelligence about the Middle East not to watch the local media. A fascist in New York like Mr. Beck is not a better source of news about what is happening in the Middle East than is Al Jazeera.
By vilifying Arabs, Mr. Beck is promoting continued war in the Middle East. The blood of hundreds of thousands is on his hands as well as the hands of Mr. Beck’s supporters.

It’s kind of a slick station (lots of gloss and you can tell it is well funded). However, it has very little domestic penetration. In fact, you can pick it up off of KU-band satellite as a free station (no encryption). You can also stream it free. This indicates that no one is really watching it in the US except, apparently in the White House.
So why would the Administration be so infatuated with AJ? It’s really just another CNN with funny graphics and a lot of translated Farsi. The only thing I can figure is that they are trying desperately to ingratiate themselves the the Mullahs. Anyone else have a clue as to what the motivation might be?
