White House Dismisses Contempt Charges Against Eric Holder, Calls Them ‘Politics’

Just hours after it was reported that the House Oversight Committee will hold a vote next week on whether contempt charges will be brought against U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney responded during a briefing, criticizing Republicans for playing “politics.”

Carney also said President Obama has “absolute confidence” in the attorney general. The press secretary then praised Holder’s department for giving “substantial cooperation” to investigators, including 7,600 documents and hours of testimony.

Asked by Fox News‘ Ed Henry for the White House’s “view” on the contempt charges, Carney started (seemingly sarcastically), “The White House view….”

The response got a good laugh from other reporters in attendance at the White House briefing.

Carney then hastily rattled off a pre-prepared answer:

“As you know Ed: Fighting criminal activity along the southwest border including the illegal trafficking of guns to Mexico remains a priority of this administration. The attorney general has also made clear that he takes the allegations that have been raised very seriously and that is why he asked the inspector general to investigate the matter.”

“I can only refer you to the Republican House Judiciary member who recently conceded, uh, that this investigation is quote, ‘politics,’” Carney said, not identifying the congressman he was referring to.

The latest round of rumored contempt charges against Holder are the result of the attorney general’s failure to provide documents relating to operation Fast and Furious requested under subpoena on Oct. 12, 2011, lawmakers say.

      & to be entirely honest, We don’t give a damn what you think!

      You have systematically denied the American Citizen their
      CONSTITUTIONALLY GUARANTEED right to petition the
      government for a redress of grievances against OUR
      Federal Government. (See first Amendment)
      through the representatives WE elect for this purpose.
      We are taking it back!

      Holder should pack his crap so he’s ready for his

      I cannot imagine ANY Administration as corrupt or as criminal as the current White House Administration. But then Congress for eight years ,at least , has been working to override the
      Constitution to allow the most anti-American President ever to be allowed in that Office.
      There is no surprise that the America Hater who has fundamentally changed America would call this
      mere politics. But the Beguiler in Chief has support of so many even bi-partisan support in Congress.The House and Nation are divided against themselves and cannot stand.

    This was all to give Hillary an easy “reason” for signing the treaty to stop the sales of guns internationally without UN approval. This is somehow supposed to lead to us losing our guns. More likely, ammunition for them after they regulate it out of business.

    The white house has to say it is politics and belittle Republicans that all he has. If the truth came out that this whole fast and furious thing was Obama and Holders idea to create an emergency so they could make AZ look bad and get his hands on our GUNS. This whole thing was a propoganda campain and was certainly no accident. Remimber Holder is on tape saying that they need a way to brain wash people into thinking that guns are bad. Make no mistake this intentional, also just before this came out even Hilary was saying in Mexico saying that its our fault that guns shows are causing the violence in mexico. O Brother give me a break, they need to change the way we think about guns so we won’t mind when they give our rights away to the UN. Bring all of these criminals up on charges of treason. Let the hangings begin after November.

He dismisses congress by calling them “ do nothing” and by appointing czars to work without their input. He disrespects the SCOTUS by insulting their Citizens United decision while they sat in front of him , the congress, and the nation on a televised State of the Union speech. This is just another example of the arrogance of the Obama administration. The leaks of ” classified information, ” as stated in the NYT articles , to the press are just the latest example of the media control and the arrogance of the Obama Administration.
