White House: Jerusalem Is Not the Capital of Israel

One of the more loudly trumpeted developments from former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s international trip has been his open embrace of the idea that the city of Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, a statement that marks him as one of the more pro-Israeli candidates in recent history.
So of course, no one should be surprised that the White House has immediately gone on record saying he’s wrong, and that they do not believe Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, but that Jerusalem’s status should be resolved via “negotiations.” This is a far more honest approach than the equivocation that has been standard from White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. CNSNews reports:
In what marks a decisive difference in the presidential campaign, one day after Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney called Jerusalem the capital of Israel, the White House asserted that Romney’s position was different from that of the Obama administration.
“Our view is that that is a different position than this administration holds. It’s the view of this administration that the capital should be determined in final status negotiations between parties,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters Monday.
“I would remind you that that is the position that has been held by previous administrations both Democratic and Republican. So, if Mr. Romney disagrees with that position, he is also disagreeing with positions taken by previous presidents like Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan,” Earnest added.
Strong words. Also, clearly a strong about switch from the President, seeing as there is clear evidence that this was President Obama’s position when he last ran for President:
It’s quite a shift to go from “Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided” to “the capital should be determined in final status negotiations between parties.” One must wonder what changed – that is, aside from the President’s need to motivate his base.

Christ is actually not a name at all, but a title. It is the greek word that is the equivalent of the hebrew word which transliterates as “Messiah” in english.
So basically, his real name is Joshua, and his title is The Messiah.
Joshua the Messiah, not Jesus Christ, unless you are Greek. So you get a clue, and stop telling other people what to do while you are at it. :)

How can someone who attended 3 different universities NOT know that Jerusalem has always been the capitol of Isreal up until the Romans destroyed it in 70 AD. Furthermore, the international campaign to Boycott, Divest and Sanction Israel is very popular in the American Jewish Community where there is a strong tradition of standing up for the human rights of the oppressed and abused, including Palestinians. American Jews have always been active in efforts to improve conditions for ALL people. Jews were active in the campaigns to abolish slavery, secure womens suffrage, build strong trade unions, defend civil rights, end war, AND support the right of Palestinians to self-determination. When Israel violates human rights that country must be criticized and punished like ALL countries should be criticized and punished. No double standards!

It was passed for the purposes of initiating and funding the relocation of the Embassy of the United States in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, no later than May 31, 1999, and attempted to withhold 50 percent of the funds appropriated to the StateDepartment specifically for ‘‘Acquisition and Maintenance of Buildings Abroad’’ as allocated in fiscal year 1999 until the United States Embassy in Jerusalem had officially opened. The act also called for Jerusalem to remain an undivided city and for it to be recognized as the capital of the State of Israel. Israel’s declared capital is Jerusalem, but this is not internationally recognized, pending final status talks in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Posted on July 30, 2012 at 8:32pmthey are already priming the pump in the propaganda machine that used to be called the press, claiming disenfranchisement of minorities, and that the koch brothers are going to buy the election – which will of course mandate our hero holder riding in to see if those bad repubs rigged the vote. yeah. what a bunch of class this guy exudes. we have to be ready to be brave in the face of some scary stuff that could happen here.
