White House: Obama Still Trying to Kick the Habit

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is still trying to kick the habit.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters Thursday that he hasn’t seen Obama smoke or seen evidence that the president has smoked a cigarette in about nine months. Gibbs says Obama has been working “extremely hard” to quit for good.
Gibbs says he thinks Obama is still chewing nicotine gum.
A new report this week from the U.S. surgeon general says tobacco smoke begins poisoning the body immediately. The report estimates that about 46 million adults, or one in five, still smoke.
Gibbs says Obama understands smoking’s dangers and has done a lot of “extraordinary work to wrestle with that habit,” as have millions of Americans.

I think Obama shows great courage in smoking, his hair is trimmed short but still, that nappy hair has got to catch fire really easy should an ash float in it.

Report Post »College kids smoke, and so do inner city kids.. They smoke a lot more than those of us who used to own tabacco farms.Wouldnt the logical choice be to lower the taxes, make it acceptable by society and then there would hopefully be less smokers, at least in sociological theory anyway.

Like where he was born, whether or not he still bends over 5 times a day for Allah, so on and so on.
The people who voted for this person need their heads examined. The ones STILL defending him need to be rubber roomed.

Posted on December 9, 2010 at 3:45pmI smoked for almost 35 years. I made up my mind to stop. One day I said this is it and started smoking one less cigarrette a day. Finally, two weeks later I had one cigarrette left. I smoked that last one and haven’t smoked for 12 years now. Just don’t think you are going to fail. You enjoy breathing and the good fresh air. You have to believe you are stronger.

I surrendered to Christ and never looked back. Never even had an urge to smoke again.

I don’t care if the Prez smokes or not. I would like to know he is smoking back in IL and not in Washington. Remember God is not against smoke, He told the Jews to make burn offerings. Something to think about.

There’s a world of difference between a burnt offering and smoking. The burnt offering was a sacrifice to attone for sin. Unless you’re a Rastafarian or Voo Doo / Hoo Doo devotee, there’s nothing religious about smoking. In fact, I’ve heard pastors make the case that the chemicals & addiction involved in smoking would fall under defiling your body.
Nevermind the latter, focus on the first point. God instituted the burnt offering as a religious practice, as attonement for sin. It’s in the attitude, not the action.

I do believe that the sin of smoking is covered under the blood of Jesus. As with all other sins, if one chooses to accept the sacrifice that God’s only Son made of Himself!!……..Thank You Jesus!!!

If we profess Christ and confess the sin but don’t repent of it, are we really sorry for committing it in the first place?

What I DO care about is that he govern within the limits of the Constitution and on behalf of the American people as a whole, not just his “Progressive base”. If he wants to destroy his lungs and his own body, then more power to him…..if he wants to destroy America by “fundamentally transforming” it with his policies, then I do indeed have a very big problem with that.
